    Cool video Zach. I had both the BE-OD and the Dirty Shirley pedals on my board and both were OUTSTANDING. Dave Friedman knocked it out of the park with both of those pedals. After about a year I found the Dirty Shirley suited my needs the best. I put the BE-OD for sale on reverb and it sold in 11 minutes. My tone is the best it’s ever been. I use a Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 with the Dirty Shirley run through the clean channel of the amp. The 4 10 inch speakers on the Deville give me that “thump” I like. Thanks for posting.

      I had the same amp and i tried to run a Wampler Pinnacle through it for skate punk stuff but they didn't work well together, I ended up selling it and getting a Blackstar HT 60 that sounds pretty good but I'm thinking of running a Friedman Buxom Boost to take it a few notches higher. I play it through a 4x12 vintage 30's loaded cab and my guitar's are a Korean Epiphone Les Paul Standard with Gibson pick ups (i think 490/498 if I'm not mistaken), a Korean Epiphone SG with a DiMarzio Super Distortion in the bridge (no neck, i don't need no stinking neck pick ups), and then a G&L Legacy Strat with their USA pick ups.

      Hey! Thanks for the kind words. I'm actually not using the Reactive Load in this clip. I recorded both a RL signal and the mic'd signal but just ended up using the mic. It's just a 57 on the cap edge of a Creamback H75. I was using the Reactive Load a bit in the beginning of my channel, but I pretty much mic everything up these days. The Reactive Load is amazing, I just prefer messing with mics. Checked out your video and you're sounding great man! That first chord is 0 - 5 - 4 - 6 - 0 - 0 Take care!

    • @ZachWish
      @ZachWish  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much Erik! I love a Rat as well. Yeah, the BE-OD is pretty killer as far as high gain pedals are concerned. Some great high gain pedals I'd check out are the BE-OD, BE-OD Deluxe, Bogner Uberschall, Revv G3, Abasi Pathos. They're all great though, so tough to go wrong. Thanks so much for watching.

    • @fleshrevolt
      @fleshrevolt 2 роки тому

      @@ZachWish ya the Rat rules, truly a classic and nailed my tone for a while now, but I'm still craving that specific modern high gain chuggy goodness! I think after watching a bunch of stuff, I'm torn between the G4 and G4, but leaning towards the G4 to get a little of that Recto tone I hear inside it. The BE OD is still something I'd love to try too, though.

    Love this video! Thanks for making it.
    Question: Does playing through the pedal feel similar to playing the amp?
    I have a Suhr PT100, SL68, and a Friedman BE100. The Suhrs sound and feel like classic Marshalls, but the BE100 has this really pleasing, easy to play kind of greasy/slippery feel under the fingers. Sorry for the horrible adjectives, but I don't know how else to describe it. I would love to replace the BE100 with the BE-OD and play it through my Suhrs, but I'm more concerned about the difference in feel than in sound between amp and pedal.

    • @ZachWish
      @ZachWish  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the kind words! Nice amps you got there. I know exactly what you're talking about when you're describing the greasy feel of the Friedman. It think the amp has got a lot of natural compression which makes it feel awesome to play. The feel of the pedal will get you close, but I think the feel of the amp that you're playing it through still ultimately shines through. On a recording, it'll be hard to tell the difference, but for instance, playing the BE-OD through the 800 still feels like playing an 800. That tighter/stiffer feel vs the easy feel of the actual Friedman. On your PT100, you can dial back the negative feedback a bit which will get you a bit closer, but maybe try to find the pedal used so you can give it a shot and not take a big hit on the price if you end up wanting to sell it again. Thanks for checking out the video!

    • @scriptphase
      @scriptphase 4 роки тому

      @@ZachWish I appreciate the response, Zach! Subbed!
      I'll try out your feedback suggestion on the PT100. Right now it's at 12:00 and I haven't touched it. I can more or less dial in the PT100 and BE100 to sound similar, but the feel of the Friedman is so pleasing to play.

Would love to hear your thoughts. Also your channel is fantastic, I've been looking for your Les Paul Classic Custom for a while now. Cheers man. Keep it up!

    • @ZachWish
      @ZachWish  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks so much Kelly! I have owned a few iterations of the regular BE-100 over the years and I spend probably 95% of my time on the standard BE channel of the amp. Rarely go into HBE territory or even flip on any switches on the back of the amp. The unaltered BE channel is pretty versatile unto itself. I don't hear a huge difference between the standard & deluxe on the BE channel. I think the appeal of the Deluxe is the added versatility of the Plexi channel as a clean channel, the gain structure switch (which I personally leave on the highest setting which is what the standard amp is), the Thump control for some added low end, and the voicing switches. If you're really into versatility and tons of different tones, the Deluxe is probably the way to go. If you're looking for a great, straight up distortion sound, they'll both get you there.
