Bottling up some of the legendary Friedman BE-100 amplifier tone into a tightly compact dual-channel overdrive pedal - the BE-OD is the perfect addition to any guitarist's pedalboard who is serious about tone.
Famed for its flexibility and stunning tonal characteristics, the original BE-100 amplifier, along with Dave Friedman's 'BE' circuit, has often been hailed as the epitome of British tone, gracing the stage of world-class musicians for decades now.
Thanks to innovative technological advancements, Friedman are now able to offer the same authentic tube-amplifier sound from a compact, pedalboard-friendly pedal unit. Building on the wildly successful single-channel variant, this updated sibling offers second channel and dual midrange controls to allow for increased flexibility and tonal options.
Featuring identical controls for both channels, Dave Friedman voiced channel 2 with a slightly lower gain to allow for a separation of both 'lead' and 'rhythm' signal paths if desired. Complete with a 3 position tight switch, volume, gain, bass, middle, treble and presence knobs, you've got everything you need to dial in your favourite settings and overdrive the hell out of your rig.

The internal trim pots. And really, that's all that needs to be said. When i first plugged in and activated the lower gain channel, gain was all the way down and holy smokes. Thing ripped!!! So much gain on tap. Took both trim pots down to around 50%. Made the pedal much easier to manage and still have plenty of gain on tap! Wow. Love it!!!!
My favorite pedal!! It's got such a versatile pallette of attainable gain stages and tone shifting abilities. Works perfectly into my Marshall Origin 50 to give me 3 channels of increasing gain. Excellent demo, Dagan!
I'm a big battery guy So 9 volt PS ?? I could use PS connector to battery little thing the make now Thanks
Awesome job as always! I bought this pedal today because of your demo ,,it sounds incredible! I've seen a few other demos and I know Friedman is a genius with this stuff but your style of playing is my style and it sold me! great job keep up the great work 🤘🤘🤘
Could really tell you love that pedal . Cool to see you having fun .
Great vid! Have this pedal on my wish list for awhile now 😁
this is a great demonstration.... great sound.... solid playing... SOLD 🤘😎
Just bought this pedal again realized how badass this pedal was won't be trading it off again !!!!
I just ordered one of myself my brother! Can't wait. Freedman was off my radar for a long time but obviously the man is a genius when it comes to designing amps and now pedals 🤘
Wow! I’m sold!❤
Fan bloody tastic brother!!
I just bought one 😜
That Tonemaster takes pedals really well
Love how you broke into “love bites” - halestorm that was tasty
Awesome playing and review! So with this pedal can we also add more VOLUME for solos?
I have that pedal plus the Friedman small box love them both.
Me too but I traded up to the smallbox limited from Wildwood Guitars. Extra extra gain. It’s literally perfect. But the regular smallbox is great too. I can get the same distortion if I put an overdrive etc. in the distortion channel. Great amps. Quiet and well made. No radio station from this brand and great customer service from the man himself.
I just got mine. I'm still getting used to it. LOVE the lead sound, still hashing out a crunch tone, a little intimated to go in and tweak the trim pots though.
Yes! Yes! Yes!
It’s all about lowering the internal trim pot on the blue channel. Then you have a legit overdrive that you boost with the green channel. Insanely versatile pedal
It's not boosted by the green channel - two independent channels
Let there be ROCK
Do any of his pedals have the battery option instead of PS only?? Thanks
Can anyone tell me whether this pedal is symmetrical or asymmetrical? Trying to determine what style of gain I prefer but can’t find any info online.
Great video. Would you recommend this pedal or the MXR EVH 5150 overdrive? I’m trying to that the 80’s hair metal tone with my Vox (I know, not the best amp to do it). Another quick question, does this give the 3D feeling of a tube amp cranked up (I’m not sure how else to describe the tube amp sound)?
late reply here Parker, but i think this pedal trumps the 5150 for that kind of stuff for sure.
I would say the BE-OD behaves more like an overdrive and the MXR is more like a distortion pedal.
I use and enjoy both, but the MXR definitely has more compression and a thumpy quality that doesn’t always jive with, say, an AC-30. I also find the BE-OD leaves a lot of the amp’s power amp sag/feel intact, which is what I think of when you say 3D.
@@trashteeth thanks for responding. I have figured out that the OCD is the overdrive pedal for me tho
@@parkerkenney6113 great choice!
shoot out between the BE and Soldano pedals?
Can I get slash tones with this pedal ?
Should try it next to the Freedman
Hey guys, is this pedal can make fuzz effects too ?
Thank you for this video!
Was wondering if this pedal would fit to Whitesnake 87 album and Van Halen guitar sound?
Thanks in advance for your answer
Absolutely!
@@PMTVUK thanks!
Gain for kilometers on the red channel.
You understand playing the amp as much as the guitar.
Proper playing!
Yes!yes!yeeeeeesss!,
Better than that Blackstar 10?
Can you have 2 different volume settings? One for rhythm and one for leads?
Yea, I would even say designed for that purpose
Sounds like the only difference between the two channels is the mid scoop.
Just like a Marshall Tone shift button which makes the sound worse if used.
Need the mids, don't take them away.
It's two separate set of controls to the same circuitry- you can dial each channel in however you want
I have this pedal an the evh 5150 overdrive all I need with any amp
Hey bro wich pedal do you prefer? I just brought the Friedman and I should have it by monday. But I've been going back and forth between those two pedals that you have? Just looking for an opinion thanks pal appreciate it
@@jimmyjames7946 I had both. Sent the 5150 packing!
Casually throws in Unholy Confessions.🤘
