Dude! The algorithm really doesn’t like you! I don’t understand why your channel is as massive as your tone is!!! One of the best guitar channels I watch. Keep em coming!!
Thanks Surf! I appreciate that. I wish I could crank out 3+ vids a week, but my work / life schedule doesn't permit it. So, I get stuff out when I can.
@@BigHairyGuitars honestly it's better this way. Some UA-camrs have a regular schedule but it seems they struggle to deliver something really interesting or useful 100% fo the time.... It's not your case :)
I have had both the Friedman and the LPD, and many other Marshall-in-a-Box pedals. The Friedman sounds like mud. The LPD Eighty7 is in another class, and one of my all time favorites. Another amazing MIAB pedal, which I highly recommend, is the MI Audio Super Crunch Box V2. However, good look in finding one of those. While technically not a MIAB pedal, I would give another shout out to the XTS Winford Drive, which is a modified RAT circuit with a dedicated midrange control...very hot rodded Marshall-esque.
Lawrence Petross (LPD87), REALLY nailed the JCM800 in his box. I wish it was a different color/ graphics, but, it made my pedal board make sense, now, before & after it!
As a dude stuck in the 80’s still / I love the Friedman stuff but I will be pulling the trigger for the deluxe 2 channel Eighty 7 it will look nice next to my ADA MP 1 / nice awesome demo BTW !!
Man, that Eighty7 sounds really good. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve heard coming from LPD. Of course the Friedmans sound good, too, as expected always.😎
I A/B'ed them and ended up going with the regular BE-OD! The Tight knob was what made that pedal for me, the control it has over the sound is crazy. Fine-tuning the internal gain pot (fairly low) and it sounds absolutely killer.
I bought the BE-OD a few weeks ago and I've had one show and one rehearsal with it as my main tone. I REALLY like it. I'm always ready to try something new and all of these pedals are phenomenal (especially in Mike's hands) but I'm not hearing anything that's making me *need* to buy one of the other two pedals.... yet.
Umm, Mr. Nielsen, you've got tone dripping all over the floor. That's gonna seep into the carpet. ;) Seriously, thanks for the demonstration. They all sound so good.
They all are worthy.. but ill stick with my od dlx.. love that pedal as my high gainer. Just got myself a hot mod Evo v2. Putting it in my budda superdrive.. soon as I get a socket saver sent.. unfortunately it wouldn't reach the pcb mounted socket under the chassis .. can't wait to see how well they all work together
they all sound great. would love to hear them into a CabM though. i think a metal zone or the ol "grunge" pedal would sound great into the power section of a 100 watt dirty Shirley
Giving Yourself Away caught my ear! Just need a little 80s grease on it - good sounds as usual! I went from being an "amp distortion only" guy, to now using Bogner pedals (La Grange or Ecstasy Blue depending on what I'm going for) for most of my drive tones, in a pretty short amount of time. Made me feel dumb for being so stubborn.
Do you find the Vol on the Friedman pedals acts like a blend control? The few I've tried seem to mix in a bit of dry, unaffected signal (in an unpleasant way) unless I crank that knob all the way up, making them hard to balance with other pedals. Same thing with Rockett.
The small box (and the BE to a lesser extent) has that annoying tube screamer thing going on where you have a clean signal and a super fuzzed signal at the same time. An OK..even good thing for over driving an a,ready dirty amp, but into a clean amp, no bueno. I think into a clean amp thr 87 would be better. But thanks for actually testing like this, most others only demo into a crunch amp, which is good for demoing overdrives not standalone distortions
Micheal Fugggin Nielson! Love your channel man. I bought your IRs on BHG and Two notes site just to make sure I wasn't missing out on anything lol. Totally converted me to preferring IRs over the OX. Love the content on all your vids but you should flick yourself in the ear for not showcasing the bassman by now.
It’s great. It’s a little softer and sweeter than the Friedman pedals. Sometimes the Friedman’s can be a bit edgy. But then again someone might want that.
Every time I think I want another amp I hook up the BE-OD into my '52 Flot A Tone into my Mesa 4x12 and I say to myself "What the h*ll was I thinking!" :))
you view it the wrong way...the Shabat is a Strat, which means maple neck, swamp ash (or alder) body and a set of decent single coils. Buy a second hand 80's made in Japan strat for $400 - $500 and you're covered.
I feel like Friedmans are "evolved" Marshalls.. they have tighter low end and not so harsh high end, and that applies to the pedals.. the LPD sounds more like a Marshall, it's more raw, frequencies are harsher idk.. the Friedmans already sound good no matter how you dial them in, they sound polished.

Eighty7: Close to the other but too buzzy
BE-OD: good overall
Smallpox: sounds real af. Air in it like a speaker . Crazy
For me, I've been using the BE-OD to record with. I think it's extremely versatile. Tons of flexibility for tweaking the sound.
