Yeah no poly last more than 2 weeks. Some people don’t mind playing with dead strings, I know people who been playing with the same set of poly strings for almost a year. But yeah I either break or cut out my strings every 2 weeks. I do my own stringing so I just look for good deals on strings .
I had the same question. Would love to know how stringing the Wasabi X crosses 2lbs tighter impacts the setup. For those who don't know, Toroline recommends stringing the crosses 2lbs tighter, but this note isn't on their hybrid sets, only on the individual sets.
I play with a co poly co poly hybrid, Diadem Solstice Black and Yonex Poly Tour Drive and love it. I came from Babolat Vs Touch and Alu power rough, and yes tension isn’t kept as long in the co poly hybrid but touch/feel is. I miss gut, not Alu though, and don’t miss what it costs to string my 4 Yonex Ezone 98 racquets.
If you are stringing with gut, why do you string 4 racquets? What level are you? How hard do you hit? I see you go budget with your Diadem/Yonex setup ($15+$9=$24 is $12 each string job) and it seems well-thought-out, but these strings lose tension fairly quickly, requiring more frequent re-stringing. So if you miss gut, go VS ($52) and Restring Zero ($14-look at Restring Zero, and you'll see why it's a great cross for gut mains). This setup strings 2 racquets for $33 each, but this should give you the excellent playability and feel you love and last way, way longer in the racquet. So buy a set of each VS and Restring Zero. String one racquet and save the other half set for when the gut poly hybrid finally starts wearing out. Do not string a 2nd racquet unless you are a string breaker. If the VS/Restring Zero last 2x as long as the Diadem/Yonex combo (you need to restring 2x with Diadem/Yonex to every 1x you need to restring with VS/Restring Zero) you're talking $24 vs $33, so is $9 saving worth the difference in playability? Plus, think about selling 2 of your 4 racquets and buy a stringing machine. String your own and save that way, too.
I’d like to start with thank you for your reply. I have not tried Restring Zero and would be happy to. Also your math is correct for demonstrating purposes but I work with Diadem rep and do not pay retail so my saving are higher, plus I purchased both in reels. To answer why I have 4 racquets is because not all 4 are strung at the same time or exactly the same. It’s usually 2 the same and 2 with different tension or weight to help adjust how my body, mind are feeling as well weather, more so in the fall, winter, and spring. As well as their various states of needing attention. I put on new over grip as needed. I popped strings as often as 1 a week to 1 a month. I have considered buying my own stringing machine on several occasions and will if both my children retain an interest in tennis as well. Thank you again for the reply and recommendation. I will genuinely try the combination, as I like to try to find anything to help my game. Happy Holidays
Tru Pro Firewire Boost (Firewire x Ghost Wire) is a poly-poly combo in one package, I can think of right now.
How does it last? I usually get 3 months on gut/alu hybrid. I don't break strings
Then keep using it. No way will a poly keep tension as well as guy no matter what they say
😂 a poly will last 2 weeks my friend.. keep using what you are using…
