It's a great idea for those (like me) who have crappy weather (although, unbelievably, I'm on a 5 night clear night streak) and don't want to ship their own gear across the world and then worry about who will fix things when they go wrong. I think there are only two setups not in use at present at Ikarus observatory.
What a fantastic inaugural image for your new northern adventure, Logan! A lovely Soul!! So glad to hear it’s working out for you and cheers for the shout out, buddy! Have fun…it’s looking great this next few days…just picked up a new 14TB drive for data…lol!
Thanks Steve. And thanks for bringing this option for remote imaging to my attention. Yes the skies are looking good in Spain and the moon is not about for a lot of it so I'm making the most of it. I'm not surprised you bought a 14 TB drive - I'm going to have to do the same shortly. Clear skies.
Hey Logan your video was Grrrrrrrrrrreat!!! (see what I did there lol) Grant is usually pretty quick to get stuff sorted although I haven't seen him for a while at star parties, think the last time we spoke was when we were at the IAS in 2022. Great image as always clear skies from the land of the grey clouds!!!
Haha yep I saw what you did there 😂. The support from Grant has been fantastic for sure. Sorry to hear your weather sounds a bit grey and to be honest, it’s not too different from here by the sounds of things. At least Spain is allowing me to get my fix. Hopefully you see clear skies soon.
Brilliant video Logan! Loved all the animation😀 Great idea with the remote observatory! That Spanish data looks awesome! Beautiful image of the Soul Nebula, 19hrs is a fair amount and it’s came out well! Looking forward to seeing more from this👍 Clear skies!
Thanks Simon. It was a fun video to make. The Spanish data coming is fantastic from those lovely dark skies. I'm going to have to get more storage now to keep all the data. Clear skies
haha thanks James. Yep, it's a southern invasion without travelling. I do like the way this setup is still very hands on as far as the imaging process is concerned and not really much different to me remoting into my obsy at home except that the one in Spain is not walking distance away.
Awesome image of the Soul and great idea renting a rig in the northern hemisphere. Opens up some great opportunities for some great images. Would be interesting to see if there is a similar kinda setup down your side of the world for us northern imagers. CS!
Thanks Dave. Yes a whole new half of the universe has suddenly opened up to me. There are places for the southern hemisphere like Chile, Australia and Namibia but I think most provide a space for you to setup your own gear. There was one place just out of Adelaide in Oz which had setups for rent but when I enquired, there was nothing available at the tie although they thought something might have been coming free soon. It was called Swan Reach Imaging. CS
@@LogansAstro Thanks, I'll check them out. There are a lot of objects in the sky that I'd love to be able to capture, so definitely looking for a situation like you found but in the Southern hemisphere.
Yes I imaging there are a lot of astrophotographers moving to Spain 😅. I’m like a kid in a brand new candy store trying to choose what to image next 😅.
Wow, there is definitely an ongoing invasion of astrophotographers coming to Spain! The south of Spain is very tempting, a big difference from the north, where I live... Much greener but rainier. I'm also going down the road to a remote observatory... in my backyard 😅
I’ve been eyeing this website for a while as a business idea, and it’s good to see that they’re in use!

Your video looks great dad. 👍
Thanks William, that means alot. ❤

Nice to have that other option Logan and all those new targets. 👍
Yep there is a whole new world.... I mean universe to image.

Great video and final image Logan. You have a whole new hemisphere to image in and during the daytime too. Clear skies bud
Thanks Rob. Yes a whole new part of the universe just opened up for me to image which is very exciting. Clear skies.
great video Logan! Glad to see you have been imaging and some norther targets no less! CS
Thanks Jason. Yes you could call it a Southern invasion 🤣

Fantastic image Logan 👏👏🌌🔭
Thanks very much.
This is awesome Logan. It's like you moved up north.. without having to move. Great shot of the soul!

May have to get on board if the good old UK weather doesn't pick up. Realy enjoyed the video and what a Beauty image mate, love the colours.
Thanks Ben. It's a great setup situation for remote imaging. I know Steve from Scotia Astro UA-cam channel uses one of the remote rigs as well.

Haha yes the invasion has begun. I've only been to Spain briefly many many years ago but would love to go back some day. Clear skies
