I just looked it up for us. These are not considered lightfast, more of a designer's gouache. The artist primarily scans and prints all of her work. I would say they are more like Winsor and Newton designers gouache in that regard. And the maker adds PW6 to most of the colors, which is fine. These are gorgeous paints similar to Winsor and Newton in how they paint and lightfastness. If you are a studio artist that puts paintings on walls and in galleries, I would look for a lightfast gouache. If you just paint, scan and print, this is great gouache for you. If you want to make the choice about whether to have PW6 (which is added for opacity), this is NOT the paint for you. If you UV protect, it works. Super creamy, luscious gouache. A little on the expensive side.
That's a bummer :( What are some lightfast gouache brands you'd recommend? All of my gouache are W&N and I didnt even know that!
@@flatgrilledcheese8363 winsor and newton are designers gouache and some are lightfast, but you need to look at the pigments and how many stars rating on the side of the paint tube on the blue wool scale. Schmincke horadam and m graham are lightfast, but m graham uses a lot of honey, so they can mold unless you keep them in the fridge (if you store them in a gouache container for en plein air work. I put a couple drops clove oil in mine to keep them fresh. Some of holbein are lightfast, but they use a different system to rate lightfastness, not blue wool 1-8 scale.
Thank you so muchfor this ,Jessica! The artist and I do similar work in that I don't really display much of my paintings but I do sell some of them so this is really helpful!!
@@flatgrilledcheese8363 Sarah Burns studio did an amazing video on lightfastness in brands. My favorite is Holbein and from er tests they look really lightfast. However, some colors will always stay longer than others
more traditional formulas are not lightfast. They never were. And I worry about the chemicals added to create lightfastness-partly because no medium that is water soluble can be truly lightfast.
Cool choice of colors especially the controlled values of the face and the neck! Your gouache paintings are such an inspiration 💗💗
Thank youo ,Prex! The original photo was so inspiring so i took a lot from that
You do a great job with your color placement. Reminds me of painting class in college
those colours are so beautiful, I love how muted and pastel like they are 😊 you did an amazing job with the painting, I really like how you managed to capture the shadow in the persons face, it's so pretty ❤
Thank you, Chantelle! I usually don't like pastel colors when they look too bright. These ones are just right for me
Love the summer vibes on this one, it’s like she’s at the beach.
So stunning!! You have such an amazing way with color. Initially I thought the blue is too muddy, but somehow you manage to complement it with the skin tone and turn it into an amazingly vibrant piece!!
This was the first thing I noticed about the photo! The muddy background blue with the bright blues of her dress and the briight skintones! I did go over some parts of the background with highlights so it's not too one dimensional
I love your way to color hair
These paints look absolutely gorgeous, the colour selection is so unique!! Your painting is incredible as always 💗🙌
your work has been so inspiring to me so this is such a huge compliment to me!
Very nice painting! Colors are beautiful. I have the whole line of SUI Gouache and agree with everything you said in your review. Need to look at pigment makeup to gauge if these would be lightfast. Am looking forward to when they come out with new colors. I will be buying them as well.
Nice! I've actually been looking at those Sui gouaches for a few years now. But I had no idea on the quality and Amazon doesn't have many reviews on this particular brand. Now I can go buy them and not be all disappointed!
Those colors are gorgeous! I'm still new to gouache but I want all lol
Hope to buy some soon :)
arent they?? The great thing about most professional brands is you can get individual tubes so You can really build up from there
Excited because you also live in the same region as me if my guess is correct. I probably have a chance to get this paints which I've been eyeing for years now!
Well I watched this video because I want to learn more about gauche and this particular gouache. However as soon as you started painting your portrait I I kept feeling to hear your words because it was so captivated by how you paint. Amazing!!! Immediately subscribed because I can't wait to watch you paint more
Gosh i love watching you paint. So relaxing and with such ease. I haven't been getting notifications for a while, but hopefully i will again now x Nell
Loved the artwork in this video, would love to see more of your swatch book and learn about you’re favourite/ essential gouache colours that you own. ❤
Yes it's a video that I've always wanted to do but didnt think people would want to see, I might just do it soon!
It's such a beautiful review. Thank you.
I’ve been eyeing these and so excited to see your review!
Wow. I love your painting style. Great art video 😊😊😊
Beautiful painting, and I love the colours of the gouache too❤
Love the realness of it!❤❤
😍😍 Loved the painting, it’s a treat to watch you paint, your videos make gouache paintings look so easy, but I tried it’s not.. need to practice a lot😄
I'm always amazed on how you blend the colors and how cool you are when you paint such a masterpiece art. I wish I could paint like you and can also afford all the good arts materials.
I've been watching all your videos. Thank you for inspiring us. I hope to meet you and ask for your advice about my artworks. More Arts and Blessings to come you.
Thank You so much! I want to say you don't actually need very high quality paints but it does improve the experience of the process. The great thing about these is you can get individual tubesdo you can build up your collection
if you look at the site there are multiple price options. I watch cost too!
Very sweet 😍
Your art and technique are amazing. I struggle with color. Do you have any videos on how to choose color in a reference? Also where did you get that palette? Thank you!
Awesome❤
Awesome paintings! What kind of paper do you use?
Wow❤👏
❤
Does the paper you use warp and buckle much when you paint?
Not that much for gouache usually because i use thick pait but it did warp a lot with watercolors. It helped when I taped the page down though
Beautiful is it watercolor?
Is gouache
@@dulcebenezra8326 yes I see awesome thx
I can see from you working that they are creamy. I went straight to the site to register. It is hard to find a good gouache-it is different to watercolour even if it is water soluble.
I'm Iranian and I can't understand what you're saying and you don't have Persian subtitles.
