Today i was in a concert and heard Messa di Gloria from Puccini for the first time in my life. I was paralyzed and blown away. What a wonderful experience. And the Romanian Radio Chamber Orchestra gave a perfect rendition to this great piece of music.
I sang in the chorus of our college's performance of this heartbreakingly gorgeous work. I had never sung anything like this, mostly opera. But hearing it now gives me such joy. Since then I have sung Cherubini's requiem, Saint Saens's Christmas Oratorio, Rossini's incredible Stabat Mater, Handel's Messiah and Brahms's A German Requiem. I go to see performance of them when I can. Nothing, however, quite compares with being in the midst of this music with the other musicians. Can you imagine?
Non c'è male, gli archi un po' stonati. Bravo il coro, meraviglioso il tenore, nell'insieme c'è un certo squilibrio tra coro è orchestra. In un certo senso è una rivelazione per una filarmonica rumena.
Much sacred music is composed by artists who also composed operas. Also, the characters of the mass are as worthy of being treated as compelling as are characters about whom operas are written
