This is the first time that I heard this Puccini masterpiece. I confess that I was impressed by the work magnificent, not only for the harmony but also for the force it transmits in the context of the religious environment. The soloists, choir, orchestration and maestro are amazing. Once more, gloria to Puccini and his fantastic music.

It's a joy to see veteran Inbal in top form, in reunion with his former orchestra. Inbal is a superb conductor, always finding the right dynamics in everything he conducts. I strongly recommend his recent performances with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia, available on you tube.
Puccini is one of the best composer. His music is very sweet and dramatic.🎉

Me trae recuerdos del director Werner Paf en Lima dirigiendo un grupo de 120 coreautas de diferentes países en el Teatro Segura con la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional organizado por el APCH y su coro, fue una experiencia hermosa y única.
Magnificent masterpiece!
I am grateful that Maestro Inbal kept to the score as written. The first time I heard this magnificent work was when our university chorus performed it. I loved it. I was in a performance of it in a community chorus some years later. There were some unnecessary rough spots. I tried to get the conductor to focus the singers to sing the score as it was written. No one wanted to take the time. This performance comes closer to the way we did in college.

Man merkt, dass Puccini aus einer Musikerfamilie stammte. Wunderbar komponiert, wahrscheinlich haben ihm seinen Erfahrungen als Organist in der Jugend sehr inspiriert.

I do the same:
I learned the complete text and (I think) I have good musical ears. I sang this in a chorus when I was 11 years old and I sing to myself this Mass as frequently as possible. I still do this, now at my 82 years old.

Beautiful, but to separate deprecatio-nem is not right. I sang this Messa in two different venues: once with my college's performance and one with a community choir's performance. Both kept to the way the score was written. I think it's better if the conductor plays it the way it is written.
In the score it's written to seperate "deprecatio-" from "-nem". I sung the mass few months ago and had a look into the score, Inbal does It correctly.
More after listening a few times: I stand by my praise but the Kyrie is too staccato- I think that section should have been performed with more legato. Otherwise bravissimo.

Bonita obra de puccini, cuando fui estudiante de música en la Escuela Nacional de Música el Maestro de Coros de apellido Ávila montó esa obra con sus alumnos incluyendome y nos presentamos en varias Escuelas. Sólo estábamos acompañados por el Piano. El tenor no recuerdo su nombre pero sólo se que era profesional y el Bajo a falta de un profesional un alumno hizo esa parte. Saludos

Respekt vor der Komposition. Aber doch recht opernhaft. Dadurch recht langatmig in der Ausführung. Dennoch sind Solisten, Chor und Orchester gut aufeinander eingespielt.
Bei einer Oper wird durch die Handlung das Stück voran getrieben. Kann also nicht langatmig sein. Bei Puccini trifft das schon garnicht zu.

Forse non un capolavoro ma una bella prova d’Autore si ,c’è’ tutto Puccini dentro .Mi e’ sembrata molto curata ed equilibrata l’esecuzione di Coro e Orchestra e i solisti ,sicuramente una direzione di esperienza .Ma il pubblico è’ quello che mi ha stupito di più’ ,dire tiepido e’un eufemismo ……

Perche‘ se la confronti con la produzione di Puccini e‘evidente che e‘ un‘opera giovanile ,poco considerata dallo stesso Autore ,se invece nell’ambito della musica Sacra la confronti con la Messa da Requiem di Mozart o con il Requiem di Verdi non ha certo la stessa forza espressiva .

Gran Dio mio, das soll Puccini sein? Das war aber ein Ausrutscher!
A parte le prime battute, veramente ispirate, che fanno rimembrare le ultime due Messe di Schubert, l'intera Messa è opera acerba, ovviamente giovanile e poco ispirata, dove il connubio tra testo e musica dovrebbe essere come quello di un guanto con la mano. Non la ho ascoltata tutta, mi sono arrestato al Sanctus, perché non ne potevo proprio più.
Le prime battute mi ricordano peraltro il tema portante della Prima Sinfonia di Elgar, lavoro del 1907, quindi nettamente successivo a questo.. Anche la tonalità ( Lab magg. ) e' la stessa. Sicuramente una curiosa casualità...
pensi questo dell'orchestra o di Puccini?
