    Triumph looks to me like THE manufacturer of a bike for everyone. Their lineup is just incredible.

    I just purchased a 2024 T120 and it's just as you describe it. Having traded in my Versys 650 LT, this bike feels like going from a sports car to a pick up. It is sluggish in the corners and I find the braking rather less than stellar especially all the great reviews on Brembos. But, it feels so stable and comfortable. Plenty of low end torque. The low centre of gravity makes the extra weight from the Versys feel like it's not really there. Much more controllable at stops and slow maneuvers. Like someone already said, I'm getting to like it more and more each ride.

    I have the 2022 version and love it. Easy to ride, plenty of power and old school styling that gets a lot of looks. Cool motorcycle!!

    There's a simple hack for the sluggish handling of the T120: increase the tire pressure by a few PSI. I know that sounds stupid, but it has become a well-known phenomenon with this bike. The recommended pressures from Triumph are some of the lowest I have seen for any street motorcycle. Why Triumph did it this way, only they could answer, but I was decidedly unhappy with my T120's reluctance to turn until I found a post on the TriumphRat forums talking about this exact subject. I went from 32/36 PSI to 35/39 and it was like a different bike. It still weighs 520 lbs, so it is never going to be an Aprilia Tuono, but now it is acceptably nimble for a sporty cruiser.

    Nice video! The 2022 I ride is a lot of fun! Back to motorcycling after a 15 year absence and I cannot get enough of riding this bike!

    As an owner of the T120, I can say it is a joy to ride! For touring, bear in mind the tubed tyres and mufflers on the sides hampering almost any form of easy maintenance or tyre repairs on the road. Make sure you are covered by road assistance!

      Good to know! I've been riding longer distances more often lately, so I keep thinking the T120 is better suited to my riding than the Speed Twin 1200 is. Not better enough to justify trading anytime soon, but definitely better.

    Watched a bunch of your videos last year when deciding between a Speed Twin and T120 as my first bike. Ultimately chose the do it all T120 and 5k miles later, I’ve enjoyed every mile of the journey. Your evaluation is spot on, although my 2022 120 has excellent braking.
    While happy with stock, with panniers, rider backrest, progressive front springs, X Pipe (quite the work around to accomplish that), and BC Sleeper Pros, the riding experience is even better. It truly is the do it all bike I wanted. I’ll add an Adventure Bike for serious road tripping, but my 300-400 mile days are no problem at all, even with my daughter chilling out as the passenger.
    Love the whole Triumph line, but definitely bought the right first bike for me. No wasted tax dollars to the state buying a starter bike, and with on going practice and daily use, it gets better with age.
    Great review and keep up the great work!

    I have a '16 T120. 10k miles on it. Just switched out the factory Pirelli Phantoms for Avon Spirit ST's. Totally changed the way the bike transitions side to side. So easy to lean the bike now.

    I own a T120 and a Scrambler XE. The XC may have been a more logical choice but the XE is one fine bike. My all time favorite is my 2020 T120 Diamond edition. Good videos!

    On the T120, a 39 tooth rear sprocket, decat and tune changes everything.

    • @VanBlamm
      @VanBlamm  2 роки тому

      It's funny, I keep thinking about going up a tooth in the front on my Speed Twin, but if I had a T120 I'd probably be doing the opposite

    • @greysea4841
      @greysea4841 2 роки тому

      @@VanBlamm The T120 is geared to keep the revs down which in turn helps the bike meet sound emission standards. The 6th gear basically being an overdrive. The 39T sprocket basically ticks up the revs a notch improving throttle response and making 6th gear actually usable. It's not night and day but definitely more lively. Really makes you think it should have just come that way from the factory. Unfortunately Euro5 regulations made it otherwise.

    As a 2022 T120 Black Gold Line owner I only have two issues: The seat is a tad firm and the pegs are a shade narrow. But stepping up to this bike from a naked sport bike the ride, comfort, ergonomics, and overall power are excellent. (The video looks like the mountains of NC/TN. Dare I ask where you're based?)

    What do you know about the apparent shifter assembly problem with the gear box? Issue can be loss of downshift ability after failure. There are some UA-cam videos about it.

    Thanks for the vid! Do you believe the price will drop for the 22 year models once the 23 models hit the floor in a couple of weeks? Thats the only thing holding me back

    • @VanBlamm
      @VanBlamm  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching!
      Hmmm, you might be able to negotiate a slightly better deal, but with supply being the way it is right now, dealers don't really need to lower prices to move bikes. If you see a 22 and a 23 next to each other on the showroom floor, the 22 will probably be listed for only 100 or 200 bucks less than the 23. That's just my guess though, I'm no expert at buying new bikes.

    I sat on one a couple days ago. It seemed way too heavy, like the tank was full of lead. Also, too bad about those fake "carbs". Those look cartoon-ish to me. Nah, I guess I'll stick with my '72.

      On paper the
      T120: 105 Nm @ 3.500 rpm
      R9T: 116 Nm @ 6000 rpm
      So i thought i would feel more and earlier pull from the T120. But it wasn't.

      About 120 to 125 if I had to guess (mph). That's what my Speed Twin 1200 does. It's not much fun above 100 though.
