- How to make an asymmetrical floral pedestal design
Ingredients - flowers - gerbera, gladiolia, solidago, white Naomi roses, limonium, cymbidium orchid
Foliage - French or Italian ruskus, eucalyptus, aspidistra, palm, and forsythia foliage
Pedestals - they are great to make and have a big impact, but they don’t always have to be triangular or round in overall shape. How about an asymmetrical version - and then make two, one for each side?
It’s a bit different but it catches the eye. Hope you enjoy a different style in this weeks video

Thankyou John, pure artistry again! Seeing you demonstrate an assymetrical pedestal’s given me the confidence to try one with my church flower arranging. Might copy it a bit though…..😉👌
Thank you and yes, try it! Depending on the materials you can get a really nice line - I have ivy that would be perfect for the drop 🌼🙋🏼♂️
Amazing work, just a lovely arrangement. I see you stepping back and I know that helps with the flow.
Thank you 😊 yes, step back and check regularly so you can see the wood from the trees as they say
Spectacular and BOLD
I love the fifty shades of green plus just a some of colours
Great design, thank John 👏💚
Thank you 😊 🌼
BEAUTIFUL !!! Hope you had a wonderful Easter Weekend !!!!
😀 thank you! I did - hope you had a great Easter weekend 🐣
Hi John, another wonderful, design! Foliage is lovely, the different textures you've used enhances the design. The use of the orchid is beautiful, flows so naturally. Thank you for sharing and encouraging us all! As I've said many times before, I love to watch you work-away! You make it look so easy! Thank you for sharing!
Very beautiful. Learning a lot. Continued blessings
Thank you so much 😊
John .. you never disappoint! Beautiful as always!!
Thank you 😊
Lovely & bold John - a lovely pedestal design 😊
Thank you 😊
Asymmetrical or symmetrical - big is what makes it for me, John. This is beautiful, and it's easy to picture a pair like this. The yellow and white combination is a favorite - as you said, "fresh". This is a grand design! I see you in shorts. Things must be warming up in Hungary! Good for you! Have a wonderful holiday weekend!🐇🌷💐☀
Thank you ! Yes, to make a pair is even better I think! 😀
We do have really good weather just now - the shorts are out 🙂🙋🏼♂️
Hope you are well And ready for Easter 🥚🐣🐥
I m following u since december when I was preparing my florist exam. U doing very good job thanks a lot for your explanation I passed my practical exam with 93%. God bless u
Congratulations 😀good work 🌼🙋🏼♂️
Really lovely, a pair would look fab too.
Wishing I had a bigger hallway and could try this out for Easter.
Will be making a mini version though.
Have a great Easter 🐇
And to you 🥚🐣🐥 thank you 😀
The arrangement is going to be even more beautiful when the gladiolia opens up. Another great job. :-)
Thank you 😊 gladiola are a great flower for larger designs as well 🌼
I am there every time, very impressed with your talent and beautiful arrangement. Amazing work 🍀
Thank you so much 😊
So sweeping and lovely
Beautiful. I’m always looking for new designs to use at our church and this would be lovely. You always amaze me at how much material you can get in a block of floral foam!!
Thank you 😊 it is amazing how much it can hold, you are right 😀🌼
I love the curviness. I think this design makes a great spring arrangement---a similar one with evergreens, and splashes of red instead of yellow might make a Christmas design. I was thinking how a funeral could use pastels or maybe a wedding. So in the end, it's versatile as well as beautiful. Thanks John!
Thank you 😊 glad I’ve got your mind ticking - and it could be used in many ways you are right 🌼🙋🏼♂️😀
Very beautiful arrangement
Thank you 😊 🌼
Great job as usual - always look forward to Tuesday to see what you are going to do - thanks
Thank you very much - we really appreciate that 😀🙋🏼♂️🌼
Stunning arrangement. I was taught the same thing although my professor said to make sure the eyes of the flowers weren't all looking at you.
Thank you 😊 and it works to make it more natural
Stunning you make it look so easy ❤
😀 🙋🏼♂️🌼
Thank you Jo’s. This is what I need. My busy week for Easter church flower arrangement. Variety of greens and foliage. This Easter Sunday for Christians the arrangements are green and white flowers.
Thank you! Church flowers are a joy to do - and green and white is beautiful at any time I think. Happy Easter to you 🥚🐣🐥
Gorgeous shape, thank you so much for all your help and guidance. It's so lovely to watch you work and I just want to try it now 💐
Thank you 😊 that’s the best feedback 🌼
Love the design the shape is lovely 🌿
Thank you 😊
Absolutely beautiful John. The different variety of greens and foilage just create such a wonderful base to design with. Thank you so much for posting. Take care.
Thank you - and you are right, the foliage is the base or backdrop to the flowers 😀🙋🏼♂️
Yes I like this very much
Thank you 😀

Heel erg mooi
bedankt 😀🙋🏼♂️
Beautiful arrangement, John! Thanks for sharing your talents! With all those stems, would you suggest using chicken wire to stabilize the foam?
Thank you! To be honest if the foam is well taped in then you don’t need chicken wire, not even with much bigger arrangements. I like to tape around the foam horizontally in big designs - like a belt, and go around a couple of times . This is the best security for the structure.
Another important aspect is the place the flowers and leave them - not keep readjusting as this will weaken the foam.
😀🙋🏼♂️🌼
Wie cool!!!💙
Thank you 😊
Stunning! The shape is amazing. How are you able to place the longer gerbera’s without bending their stems? That’s a struggle for me. 😩
Thank you 🌼 these gerbera were nice and strong stemmed 🙂🌼
What a beautiful design. One problem I find is that I cannot buy different types of foliage because you need to be in the trade to buy from the flower markets. Can you offer any advice?
Thank you!
There are a few solutions -
Buy key foliage from a florist
Use garden foliage for bulk - or from a friends garden if you don’t have one yourself
Houseplants! These can be a good source of highlight material
Forage - but with permission!
Just keep an eye out to the possibilities 🌼🙋🏼♂️
@@FlowerJoos Thank you for your suggestions, that’s very helpful.
Such a beautiful arrangement. I appreciate you sharing your talent, I'm going to try my hand at something similar.🌺
Thank you - enjoy creating your design! It’s the making I enjoy most 🌼🙋🏼♂️
