Hope you enjoy coming along with us for a more uncut, extended episode of van life in California! Loved filming this and sharing more intimate moments that usually don’t make the final edit. How about that shack in the woods?! 😳
Always a delight to watch your wonderful exploration content. California is usually quite sunny. I think you hit this year's late unusual summer coastal overcast. The famous highway 1 drive is internationally famous and over the years they've had to restricted parking more. Like during the flowerchild ✌️ period... give Peace a chance era.. whole psychedelic painted buses had colonies living off the coast - transcending space and time with LSD infused lunches 😁 😵💫🌞🌻🤩 That real crab was expensive. It should at least include mind expanding mushroom microdosing sauce 🤪😅
Yeah, as a native Californian, I apologize. lol The coast is where the rich and famous live, they can afford those exorbitant prices. We typically have higher than average gas prices but this past summer has been ridiculous. It's finally coming down again but this is what oil companies do to test whether they can raise prices. Don't worry about our coyotes, they are usually not as big or aggressive as Canadian ones. When I worked on the Malibu coast I would see them every morning and just walk past them as they ran away from humans. Dogs may be a different story. lol The occasional rattle snake too. Hope California ends well for yall at least. 🙏
To be fair, you guys were traveling though some of the most expensive areas of California. It's also, of course, incredibly beautiful with all sorts of great sights, hiking, great food, wine, etc. I guess it's comparable to other expensive destinations anywhere in the world, including parts of the UK and Europe.
@@OverlandingSophia I'm familiar with that land in pt Reyes but I think I'd call it a meadow. the word "moor" is something I only know from English literature
I have no qualms with you guys long lining scout, it’s called being responsible. My street dog has similar guarding instincts as well as prey drive and noise phobia. I’d never use adverse tools on him he’s to sensitive and anxious and they are not something you’d use on humans so no way on dogs. I want to build his trust up not take it away
This!! 🙏 We do get comments both here and on IG, mostly curious and thinking it's because his recall is bad. But as you'll know, it's so much more than that. Street dogs come with so many unknowns too and we're still learning with him every day 💛 Sending belly rubs to your fur baby 🐾 xx
@@OverlandingSophia newts noise phobia means he won’t walk from home incase he hears a loud boy racer exhausts, he also scared of gun shots. Thankfully he loves people so my housemate came with us today this was a distraction. I also know the days there’s no local shoots so can to some rural walks at work (I’m a pet sitter) he’s anxious in open areas thanks to bird scarer cannons, so he’s leashed or long lined. If he’s feeling anxious there’s no point in putting lying line on as he won’t leave my side but will bolt if he gets spooked
This has to be one of your absolute best episodes. Just incredible. From the rawness of the day to day, the realities of travel and vanlife, and of course, the scenery! Stay safe, happy travels, and see you next time!! ❤😊
I love that you keep it real, this is what travelling should be about, not just all the highs. But you still make it look like a wonderful experience. Your dad is always with you Ches, finding that little hut full of love was to remind you he's watching over. Big love xx

I absolutely loved this. In a world of filters and edits, this was so refreshing. In regards to why you have Scout on a long-leash = responsible dog owners. All the credit to you for making his experiences safe, as well as the wildlife :)
My wife Erin and I are from New Zealand, We've been following your adventures and they've been a huge inspiration - we Bought an old Ford F250 and Truck camper in Utah back in June and drove it to our friends in Quebec to do some repairs and upgrades - we're currently in Halifax and heading south next week, ultimately heading to Ushuaia as well - we're probably going to be to far behind you but you never know, we may see you on the road one day ! Ah thanks so much my loves 🥰 Wasn't sure how this was going to turn out, thought it could be a giant snooze fest but people seem to have enjoyed it! xx 💛
Excellent music selection! Love the Avett Brothers. Crab sandwich wasn't cheap, but when you consider how little meat you get per crab, you can understand why. I'm sorry to hear about your husband's medical condition involving his flat feet... I'll pray for arches.
Aw thank you! Beta Radio are one of my faves and I’ve used a couple of their songs too. Haha thank you, although I don’t think any amount of divine intervention will save Ben’s feet 😂🫶 xx
Not gonna show half a seal ? Is that 21st century "man" sensibilities, on Y'/Tube ? It's ALL part of the point of ya vids, surely, mister. Warts and all, i say !! PS. No matter how tasty that sarny was, at that price, i would'nt have enjoyed it. T'was a nibble, "would'nt feed a mouse" . ( slightly altered/robbed quote, i know ! ) Sure they heard ya "limey" accent, and put a bit 'o bounce on it. Great vids for prospective vanners, watching. PS. "He's a 100% part Akbash ! Shiver mi timbers .
It was just pretty grim. Sure you can Google half eaten seal if that’s your cup of tea 😜 Haha the crab sandwich was amazing, I’d pay it again, much to Bens dismay 😂💛
California is so expensive right now. Especially food and gas. I live in Silicon Valley and it’s constantly rising💵💵 I love following your trip. I’m currently saving for my own van life adventure. Please watch out for foxtails, lots in California and highly dangerous to dogs!
Ee thank you so much for the heads up on foxtails! Read about them after reading this and saw them for the first time today, and made sure the dogs avoided them. Of course they wanted to go and sniff right into them 😆 💛
Wow, loved this behind the scenes stuff guys, thanks for sharing such candid moments. Hope you're not bailing out of route 1 between San Francisco and LA, the Big Sur, Bixby Creek Bridge, Monterey, Carmel, they are unmissable bucket list stuff. Although in a van, maybe hard, especially these days, although I managed to stealth camp near Big Sur!! Loved the Golden Gate bridge visit too, it never gets old for me, I had to keep going back and walking across it, stood in the same point you were at about 4 years ago. Always leave Sophia in gear, that will hold her just a well as the hand brake and is a good backup anyway just in case.
Awesome, so pleased you enjoyed the more candid moments on this one! I drove highway 1 and Big Sur in a camper about 8 years ago. If I was to do it again, I’d hire a car and stay at Air BnBs or cute hotels on the way. I think the reality is that it isn’t wonderful or very free for van life. But we have a pretty epic alternative. Ssh! 🤫💛 xx
Loved this uncut episode guys..I cried when u got emotional as I lost my dad this year..& I shared your joy as you’s crossed the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge, brings back so many memories…safe onward travels … YOU GUYS ROCK 👏
I live in Northern California....it was so much fun to see my stomping grounds in your video! Tip: the line you drew over the Golden Gate is actually the San Rafael Bridge. The Golden Gate is that very short stubby connection between the two bluffs below the line you drew. 😉 The map is congested so it's hard to tell. The San Rafael Bridge has views of San Francisco too but not as stunning as the views from the Golden Gate. 💕
Thanks for the extended view of your adventures in this video. I always wondered why Scout usually had the long leash. I just thought it was because he would run away and might not respond to being called back. But thank you for the in depth info about his breeding and the breeding characteristics of both dogs and was a good lesson to us, your viewers, on getting to know our pets and what to expect from them...allowing for individual personalities, of course. Also, to extend it further, I suppose that the geography you will cover in your trip and the various wildlife species you may encounter could be another opportunity to educate us viewers on the behavioral characteristics of those species (especially the dangerous ones!).
Ha, We've lived in the Bay Area for 30+ years and the discussion on cost of fuel and crab sando's is one my wife and i have often. We may be the center of the universe but, it is soooo pricey.
Haha the crab I’m happy to pay for - it was SO good! But the fuel prices here are crazy!! Saw $8 the other day which was more expensive than the Dalton Highway 🤯
For some reason the hut with the remembrance stones reminded me of the WWII American Cemetery in Luxemburg. I walked all the way to the back of the cemetery where most visitors don't go. I walked along the line of stones saying their names out loud and saying thank you. I guess I just wanted to let them know they were appreciated and thought of by someone. I imagine it was years since their names were said aloud.❤. Great video, I hope you’re doing well. xxx/ooo
That uncut episode was very nice to watch. I have to agree with Ben about the prices of that sandwich! And seiing him walk like an old lady barefoot on the rocks was so funny cuz i'm pretty sure i look the same in this case!!! ;) Also i just enjoy a lot seeing your dogs being dogs 💙
Lovely video Both. How life really is. Yes it's not all sunny beautiful days. Yeah it's full of ups and downs. But it's Real. Always fabulous to follow. Keep Loving That Adventure. That memorial (spelling) was special. Total respect 🙏 Beautiful video Both. Love and Big Hugs. Safe Travels ❤
Thanks dear Asa 💛 Absolutely this. Days like this are what make the good times so good. Hope you're doing well, whereabouts are you now? Still enjoying an autumnal Scotland? Sending love and hugs from us xx 💕
Guys, so sorry that vanlife in NorCal is so hard, I hear you. CA has a special place in my heart, but it has gotten so ridiculously expensive with everything, and just a mess, that it’s totally disheartening, because the nature there is so incredibly beautiful. Glad that you got to experience it anyway. Safe travels! ❤
It's a shame as there is so much to explore here! Definitely not the one for van life - maybe a fun vacation in the car, staying at AirBnBs, hotels etc would be the nicer (and more expensive 😂 ) way to do it!
Hi ya Chesca, Ben River and Scout, dear fuel and food , I am allergic to crab 🦀, fuel is $8.00 normally now, probably get dearer with the Middle East problem. Love the uncut video take care and stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🌟🥂🦀🌺🩷😊
What a beautiful film!!! Loved the everyday vibe. Was moved so much by that little hut of love... reminders of what binds us is stronger than that which divides us - thankyou for sharing that xxxx Ps The bridge looks like Brunel's on steroids!!!!!
GR8 VID ~ LOVED ❤ it !!! Whenever I'm heading up or down the coast and cross over the GG Bridge, I usually stop and spend the night at that vista view spot on the north end of the bridge !!!
I love your vlogs as I forget they are "you tubes" Superb photography, love the detail of the attractions, sights, maps, van maintenance, etc i can't stand "hype" and you tube acting, that's never you two. Then you go "raw" and I Ioved that style too. A combination of the two styles, the dream and unfiltered would be fabulous. Either in same video or an occasional uncut/unfiltered one. The washing bit made me laugh, flannel washing is what we do too, home and van. Just don't stop your vlogs.
Really enjoyed you’re vlog… it was rather raw … and great to see … although … the vibes between you were rather strained.. .but then I guess you’re aware of that and not afraid to share 🙏 Hope you guys are okay😎 And thanks for sharing … and I’m not surprised you were emotional in the ‘hut’ of memories…. You are empathetic & sensitive … loss is never easy but .. memories are magic … as you know 🌞 Stay safe 🩵
Bodega Bay always brings back memories of the Hitchcock movie The Birds. Looked like a pretty good crab sandwich, glad you were able to enjoy. It is "really" hard to find camping spots in N. Calif. I've got to where I plot out the casinos and park in their lots. Hearing you talk about Scout made me think of a channel I watch of a family north of San Diego who garden and homestead on their land, they just acquired a Maremma dog, an Italian herding breed. This dog is all white and just as sweet as can be, she is 7 mo. and is learning to gaurd their property of coyotes, mountain lions and such. San Francisco Bay is where I was stationed in the Navy, on Treasure Is. I was so cold when I got there because I'd just spent a year on Cuba at a base. I bet you will be glad to get back into Mexico where it's easier to park-up for the night. Hope all is going well at the present and things are falling into place to get Sophia down to S. America. Happy Travels🤞😊
Ah didn’t know you were in the Navy! Haha can imagine the cold fog of SF took some getting used to after Cuba 😅 Yep van life on the coast was a lot of hassle, made even worse by having dogs. So excited to show you what we got up to instead 🥳 Hope you’re having a lovely weekend xx 💖
I have an akbash cross pyrenees. Someone said he looks like a lab on steroids. He's big and white so polar bear😂. He is the best dog ever. When a predator came for our chickens he chased them down and took his chickens back home. Unfortunately they didn't live but he's so loyal and sweet. ❤enjoying your adventures 😊I don't think I'd be very good at vanlife but you both make it look easy.🥰
The inflation is crazy right now! I used to eat out twice a day (lunch and dinner) because I don't like to cook but I could no longer justify the cost so the last 6 weeks I've been cooking all my meals and only eating out 1 meal/week. Turns out my own food tastes a lot better most of the time so I'm so glad I started cooking my own meals. Eating out is just ridiculously expensive these days!
I love that you got so emotional at the shed. Your humanity shines through on all your videos. Your excitement at crossing the Golden Gate, your playfulness with other, your enjoyment of life in general, all point out what wonderful people you are. I do so enjoy you two and your pups. Thank you so very much for sharing yourselves with us all. Walk in peace and continue being you.
Yes gas in California is a bit ridiculous. Is usually higher, gas, in California due to stricter standards in the refinement of gasoline for less pollutants. At this moment they also say that refineries are conducting their annual upkeep and this adds to the price plus higher international prices due to Russia and Saudi Arabia cutting oil production. However in the rest of the US gas prices are lower by about 3 dollars on average. Great scene in that little shack by the road, a lot of emotions etched on stones.
These breeds of Kangal, Malaklı and Akbaş dogs are tied up by their owners in Anatolia during the winter months. Especially in the east, in winter, the mountains are covered with snow and hungry wolves haunt the villages. If you don't tie up the dogs, they will instinctively follow the wolves. and it ends badly.
Yeah, Scout wouldn't hesitate to follow something he doesn't trust. He goes into a different zone and it's very difficult to snap him out of it. We don't blame him though, it's what he's been bred to do!
Our handbrake does exactly the same thing! So frustrating, we've had new shoes fitted, checked all the cables etc and it just seems to stretch or something? Scary when you are parking a 3.5T vehicle on a hill 😂 Really enjoyed the more relaxed, uncut format! Felt real!
So weird! There must be 3 other sprinter owners who have commented to say the same thing. Someone told us to just leave it in gear but on hill starts and steep park ups we need a bit more than just the gear brake 😂 Apparently most vans need their handbrake tightening after having new shoes fitted, so we asked Mercedes in San Diego to do it and it's nice and tight again. Will see how long it lasts but might just be something we have to keep on top of!
WHEEEEE NO GUARDRAILS! Great episode. You found the abandoned love shack and experienced the iconic Golden Gate Bridge where it's foggy damn near every day. Happy west coast trails.
If you had it done at the mercedes dealership just take it to the nearest one and show them the repair work order, safe travels guys ,I wish I was with you given the absolute sh*t show the world has become lately, stay safe ❤
Welcome to Northern California, unfortunately you got caught in Tourist Central. The coastal road is much more expensive than inland. If you would have just drove inland for 10 minutes prices change dramatically. It is stunning beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful video. I loved every second of it. The cabin is called a Spirit House or Dwelling. It was lovely. Every second of this video was lovely. Thank you ❤
From what I've seen and heard, California is a terrible place to visit for mobile travelers because of the lack of free camping, and every is beyond expensive. ... Being flat footed is technically a medical condition, I'm also flat footed. My wife and I have a 2 Karakachan mix dogs that are very much like Scout. Hera, my dog, would have tried to break the glass to get to the coyote, my wifes' dog Odin would have waited for us to open the door before trying to attack it..
An extended Special, just what I need whilst getting over a cold 🥶.. "stay in bed for another 4 and half days" 😂😂.. ah River and Scout are so funny.. I always find that if I don't do something for one day, it turns into a problem.. like making the bed.. oh the laptops, hope the upgrade is better. Yeah I agree with Ben slow bendy roads are a little bit annoying 😂. Wow that road on the edge of a cliff face.. 😲 oh the Goonies shot! Definitely a good place!! $40 for a couple little meals is quite a lot but if its nice then that's all that matters! Yeah waiting for people isn't great especially with no signal.. nothing more irritating than spending loads on a brake job to find later on that it's still broke. I always leave it in gear ⚙️ too! Very sensible with scout. He does have such a lovable face 👀.. breakfast looks eggselent! 🍳 🥚 And that's no yolk! The rememberance shack is interesting 🤔 and very nice! I've always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉.. It's stunning! Love the drone shot through the cloud ☁️. Loving the map view.. enjoy and good luck going forward can't wait for the new plans! Love from us in a rather strange 22degree Devon!! X
Oh hope you feel better soon Mark! We think the handbrake might just need tightening as they had to replace it completely. Thankfully after the fiasco crossing the mountain pass last week with the smoking brakes, they're going in for a full check up at the Mercedes garage in San Diego. Keep your fingers crossed it's a quick fix! 😬 Sending love to Devon! Enjoy the sun while it lasts! xx 🌞
We both had pretty standard corporate jobs back home. I (Chesca) was a content editor for a big retail company and Ben worked as a business analyst/project manager. We both worked together, then after 1.5 years decided we kind of liked each other a lot, quit our jobs, started a little design business, sold the flat and here we are 😃
The Chroma level or Saturation level of colour is low as I am watching your video. Lots of jokes could be inserted here! Bordering on a sepia tone effect ….maybe you are going for that? Carry on always enjoyable!
Ah no I actually tried to increase the saturation on this video! For most of it we’re in a grey haze from the wildfires and sea fog, and the landscape is brown and yellow. So that definitely doesn’t help 😅
We loved this uncut video (we love all of your videos though) and your visits to the beaches. 🌊 Hope you get the handbrake sorted out so you can have safety and peace of mind. Love that little hut even though it did give me horror movie vibes at first when you were opening the door.😅 Oh my what a place with so much love and grief shared by beautiful souls for beautiful souls. I figured you had a very good reason to keep Scout on the leash and it all makes sense especially when he took off that one time. I always have a sigh of relief to see him on the leash after that. I have 2 rescue cats and they are far different compared to our other furry family members since they were both feral for the 1st year of their lives. You know your adorable pups best. 🐾🐾 💞 A quote that I read recently which I found very touching and I thought of my Dad right away: May we be the things loved most about the people who are gone - Author unknown
Cheska, where is the “sweet chilli sauce” recipe you said you were going to put in the description? Want to make it! By the way, I have to say your drone footage is amazing.
You probably know that coast road is shut below Monterey, we detoured via Paso Roblas, there is a lovely dispersed camping area between the two, see iOverlander.
We can park it in gear… but as a manual the handbrake really needs to be working and is needed for steep hill starts etc. Plus if the van is parked on a steep slope, gears alone won’t stop it rolling. We really need a working handbrake with a 3.5tn van 😔
Great show Ben & Chesca. A more raw content showing vanlife. Interesting to hear about Scout and his long line. I have two Lurchers, sighthounds, and when they are in eyes on, ears off mode there is no getting them back until they decide. One observation from the beach though. Please do not not throw sticks for the dogs. I have seen and heard of so many horrible injuries when they get it wrong and the stick goes down their throat. Hope that doesn’t sound too preachy.
Thanks Ian, so happy to hear you enjoyed this one. Did you find a drink in the end? 🤪 Thanks for watching out for the pups too. We don’t make a habit of throwing sticks but most of the wood on beaches here is smooth and soft driftwood. We wouldn’t throw it if we thought there was any danger to her. She has a bad habit of chewing them and eating the bark and having the 💩 so that’s another reason not to do it 😂 xx
Awesome video this week guys. Glad to see you got your computing issues straightened out. Fixed or replaced?? :) That little cabin, simply amazing; a place for love, caring and remembrance. The golden gate bridge, phenomenal. :) Be well. :)
It was a replacement 😔 Managed to get a 2nd hand laptop delivered to a repair shop! The cabin was so special. Never thought in a million years it would be something like that. Can’t describe how peaceful and safe it felt in there. The emotions hit me sideways xx
I'm not sure who looks sadder when you bit into that crab sandwich - Ben or River. You know what they say about owner's looking like their dogs?!😄 And THEN ... "You sound like such a Dad!" Wow - close call girl! I thought you said, "You sound just like your Dad!" Poor, sweet Ben - looks like his Dog, sounds like his Dad all in the same moment - that's RUFF! 🐶 Sending you 2 of the same Dog Toys so Jess can sleep in! 🌺🌻🌴 Lotta Love!!
Love your video's but this one was amazing. What a love you have for both dogs. ❤❤ Amazing beaches and how rough the sea looked. What a lovely hut with the rememberal stones. I understand how that hits home. Keep going you guys. Safe trafels bay Ingrid, Joey and Ben my BorderCollies ❤❤
We do! But we don’t find it useful for us. Many hosts are booked up far in advance, you mostly have to book at least 24 hours beforehand and many don’t allow dogs. So it hasn’t been much of an option for us unfortunately 😔
Eating out or take outs or even fast food has become very expensive in the US to the point that it is just not worth it. With $40.00 you could have done the grocery shopping and made yourself several decent meals. A lot of people in the US are doing just that and not paying the extremely high prices for basic simple meals.
Love this video. Highway 1 on the California coast is epic. I did it at age 13 (many moons ago) with my family. Got a good chuckle out of Ben saying he didn’t like driving on slow winding roads before you got to the main winding parts of the 101. 😂 The pups are so cute and clearing having a great adventure: Stay safe! ❤

P.s cried with you at that wee shack 💓💓💓
❤️ ❤️
Ssh! 🤫💛 xx
Probably been 5+ years since I did it! Agreed, it was expensive and difficult then, I'll be much worse now. All the tourist traps are crazy this year!
Best to avoid taking the van into Carmel. Plus, the arrogance of the people there is hard to take. It is beautiful though.
What a great episode , some amazing scenery and stunning beaches.
Thanks so much guys 💛✨
Lovely video, your empathy in the memorial shack brought tears to my eyes too some places just speak to the heart.
Thanks Sally, I lost my dad last year and seeing other messages to lost parents in there just broke my heart open all over again 🖤
Thank-you for not showing the seal.
I could never do what you guys do with 2 dogs. Don’t have the patience and would feel so claustrophobic. California has a huge population of coyotes.
The adventures and experiences we have make up for the small space. But it does take some getting used to 😅
Loved this uncut episode guys..I cried when u got emotional as I lost my dad this year..& I shared your joy as you’s crossed the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge, brings back so many memories…safe onward travels … YOU GUYS ROCK 👏
So sorry to hear about your Dad Billy 😔 Thank you for sharing the journey and emotions with us, so glad you enjoyed the uncut episode. Sending love 💕
Your camera work & editing is unique..good.
🙏💛
I live in Northern California....it was so much fun to see my stomping grounds in your video! Tip: the line you drew over the Golden Gate is actually the San Rafael Bridge. The Golden Gate is that very short stubby connection between the two bluffs below the line you drew. 😉 The map is congested so it's hard to tell. The San Rafael Bridge has views of San Francisco too but not as stunning as the views from the Golden Gate. 💕
Also has views of San Quentin prison! 😊
We will try our best! We aren’t wildlife experts but of course will share some of the weird and wonderful creatures we find on our journey south 💛🫶
Great video, I hope you’re doing well. xxx/ooo
And this is why we love you Bill 💕 Those names would have been sons, brothers and friends to someone, somewhere. Big hug to you and the family xx
What a raw experience into van life, really enjoyed this deeper look, much love xx
Thanks Jenny, so pleased you enjoyed this one 🥹 Hope you’re enjoying the new house?! Xx
Love the uncut video take care and stay safe cheers from Australia 🇦🇺🌟🥂🦀🌺🩷😊
wow very nice experience friend
What a beautiful film!!! Loved the everyday vibe. Was moved so much by that little hut of love... reminders of what binds us is stronger than that which divides us - thankyou for sharing that xxxx Ps The bridge looks like Brunel's on steroids!!!!!
GR8 VID ~ LOVED ❤ it !!! Whenever I'm heading up or down the coast and cross over the GG Bridge, I usually stop and spend the night at that vista view spot on the north end of the bridge !!!
Frugal Ben making Chesca feel guilty about her 40$ food, tut tut!
😂😂 Gotta live a little right?
Yep 😂😂
I love your vlogs as I forget they are "you tubes" Superb photography, love the detail of the attractions, sights, maps, van maintenance, etc i can't stand "hype" and you tube acting, that's never you two. Then you go "raw" and I Ioved that style too. A combination of the two styles, the dream and unfiltered would be fabulous. Either in same video or an occasional uncut/unfiltered one. The washing bit made me laugh, flannel washing is what we do too, home and van. Just don't stop your vlogs.
Really enjoyed you’re vlog… it was rather raw … and great to see … although … the vibes between you were rather strained.. .but then I guess you’re aware of that and not afraid to share 🙏
Hope you guys are okay😎
And thanks for sharing … and I’m not surprised you were emotional in the ‘hut’ of memories…. You are empathetic & sensitive … loss is never easy but .. memories are magic … as you know 🌞
Stay safe 🩵
Excellent video. Love the raw coverage and emotions. Keep it real. Happy travels.
Thank you for such a beautiful message 🥹 Words like this inspire us to continue and to keep making better videos, appreciate it a lot. Sending love! 💕
I just discovered your channel and I am so glad I did ❤ thank you so much for sharing!
Really enjoyed today vid best one ever
Aw this is so amazing to hear, thanks Angie! 💛💛
Excellent video. Thanks for sharing
Amazing video guys , just Amazing ❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much Alice, glad you enjoyed it! 💛 🥹
Loved every minute ❤
Love to hear this, thank you 🥹💛
That was a fantastic video. Thanks.
Thank you so much 🥰💛
The whole video is just brilliant guts! Open honest and just ace xx
Hi I can't find the receipt, love your video's x
These breeds of Kangal, Malaklı and Akbaş dogs are tied up by their owners in Anatolia during the winter months.
Especially in the east, in winter, the mountains are covered with snow and hungry wolves haunt the villages. If you don't tie up the dogs, they will instinctively follow the wolves. and it ends badly.
Yeah, Scout wouldn't hesitate to follow something he doesn't trust. He goes into a different zone and it's very difficult to snap him out of it. We don't blame him though, it's what he's been bred to do!
I just built out a 2008 kia sorento on jellybean outdoors
Glad to see you guys. Interesting and beautiful video. I hope you are doing well. Have a good trip.
Thank you Sergei, hope you’re doing well! 💛🫶
great video.
Thank you Neil 🫶💛
Hahah no rails, my worst nightmare! 😭 Some amazing experiences amongst the mundane. What life is all about really! 💛
If you had it done at the mercedes dealership just take it to the nearest one and show them the repair work order, safe travels guys ,I wish I was with you given the absolute sh*t show the world has become lately, stay safe ❤
We had it done at a garage in Burnaby 😔 Hoping it just needs tightening! 💛💛
Hey, i hope things are a little better, usual jabberings to come 👌👍
Welcome to Northern California, unfortunately you got caught in Tourist Central. The coastal road is much more expensive than inland. If you would have just drove inland for 10 minutes prices change dramatically. It is stunning beautiful.
We decided to drive inland A LOT more than 10 minutes in this weeks video 😉
Absolutely beautiful video. I loved every second of it. The cabin is called a Spirit House or Dwelling. It was lovely. Every second of this video was lovely. Thank you ❤
Oh what a perfect name for the shack 🥹 We found out later it was on the site of a cancer retreat, so that makes a lot of sense 💛
The north Californian coast got more and more restrictive the further south we drove. Didn't even want to attempt Big Sur an Highway 1 😳
Lol the kids woke up in a scurfuffle 😂
Enjoy the sun while it lasts! xx 🌞
@@OverlandingSophia thanks for the well wishes, I'll keep my fingers crossed 👌for the brake service! X
You probably mentioned this before I started watching you about 6 months ago, but what were your jobs before you started travelling?
Recipe is just below the first paragraph in the description 🥰
Amazing film once again, you have an awesome ( very American word ) life. PS: Did you see your friends on 'Race around the world' ?
Thanks so much Mark. Feel lucky every damn day! Don't watch Race Around the World.. what did we miss?!
Cheska, where is the “sweet chilli sauce” recipe you said you were going to put in the description? Want to make it! By the way, I have to say your drone footage is amazing.
Thank you so much, I bloody love that little drone 💛 The recipe is there! Just beneath the first paragraph. Let me know how it goes! 😋
Oh no!! You marked the wrong bridge ☹️ hello from just across the bay
I know 😭 We did actually go over that bridge to see some friends so we can use it for that 🤣
You probably know that coast road is shut below Monterey, we detoured via Paso Roblas, there is a lovely dispersed camping area between the two, see iOverlander.
Yes! That's also played a part in changing our plans 💛
I'm slightly confused.. why don't you park it in gear so it can't roll?
We can park it in gear… but as a manual the handbrake really needs to be working and is needed for steep hill starts etc. Plus if the van is parked on a steep slope, gears alone won’t stop it rolling. We really need a working handbrake with a 3.5tn van 😔
Have loved this video! More like this absolutely fine! Thank you 😊 xx
Consider it done! Watch this space 😉 💛
Ches, I would have paid that for a sour dough crab sandwich too 😂😂😂❤❤ my mouth was watering! Xxx
Yes Jo! I will take you next time 😃 💕 xx
$16 for a crab sandwich is cheap!!! -CA native
😆😆🦀
@@OverlandingSophia Yes that cabin looked special, so spiritual. :)
Haha omg Leanne 😂 You know if Scout and River have the exact same toy they will still always want the one the other has! 💛
@@OverlandingSophia SO true! And people wonder why people think of their dogs as their children! Cuz they act JUST like them. Safe travels! XOXO!
@@leannemeissner6344 😂😂 So true!
Love your video's but this one was amazing. What a love you have for both dogs. ❤❤
Amazing beaches and how rough the sea looked.
What a lovely hut with the rememberal stones. I understand how that hits home.
Keep going you guys.
Safe trafels bay Ingrid, Joey and Ben my BorderCollies ❤❤

Yes! They're so beautiful 😍
What a treat , this is just brilliant 😊☕
Thanks so much 🥹💛
Do you have a harvest host membership. It may be a good thing to have while you are going through the USA.
We do! But we don’t find it useful for us. Many hosts are booked up far in advance, you mostly have to book at least 24 hours beforehand and many don’t allow dogs. So it hasn’t been much of an option for us unfortunately 😔
Excellent video guys, one of the best if not the best. Real life not just the highlights,
Really love to hear this, thank you so much 💛
Eating out or take outs or even fast food has become very expensive in the US to the point that it is just not worth it. With $40.00 you could have done the grocery shopping and made yourself several decent meals. A lot of people in the US are doing just that and not paying the extremely high prices for basic simple meals.
For the part about Scout on a leash, i thought you'd have your dogs on a leash because of the birds nesting, same as the drone rules
Oh we do in that case! I was referring to his leashing in general, in places where they don’t need to be on leash 🙂
As allways great footage ❤❤❤
The parking was less exspensive than the sandwich+shrimps+drinks😅
Omg it was!! Haha welcome to California 😂💀
Awesome vlog as always guys
Get some dpf cleaner that you add to your fuel if you can't get any I can send some to you guys just shout x
Yes! Definitely doing that 🙌 Thanks so much for the offer, think we should be able to grab some before we leave the States. Will stock up! 😆
alright my lovers me an my wife used to use warm water an a watering can the good old days lol great vid love from the west country xx
Hahah a watering can would make a great little shower! Love it 😂💛
If you pass by Laguna Beach, you can park outside my house
We're going to be staying with Ben's brother in that area but appreciate the offer, thank you so much 💛
America is so expensive for normal day to day spending,
Oh yes, it really is! 😥
Love this video. Highway 1 on the California coast is epic. I did it at age 13 (many moons ago) with my family.
Got a good chuckle out of Ben saying he didn’t like driving on slow winding roads before you got to the main winding parts of the 101. 😂
The pups are so cute and clearing having a great adventure:
