Been battling this problem for a while too, current setup is AWE cat back with vibrant ultra quiet resonators, I think I'm going to add this into the setup to quiet things down, thanks for posting this!
Best thing for rasp on these 3.0T engines is exhaust wrap! I have test pipes that are wrapped and my stock downpipes also wrapped tight and I have no rasp! Its a resonance from the steel that causes it and wrap takes out that sharp tone!
Were you able to figure out a way to get rid of that ringing/ howling in the cabin at certain rpms? I'm Redstar test pipes to CTS downpipes to Gibson 55106 to AWE touring cat back.
Since I've added the Gibson the exhaust sound is much more tame. It may not sound like it in the video but there is no rasp now. Haven't noticed any ringing.
A while back I've seen a product from a company called car chemistry it was baffle inserts pretty much had the same design but instead of being a intire muffler they are just insert you could slide into the exhaust pipe I've seen jhm buts them in on their downpipes and people use them on boat exhaust but not really many sound clips
You need the AWE exhaust touring Edition it's the best system for our vehicle...they also have a track Edition that's 300$ cheaper but it's really aggressive I seriously recommend the touring edition it's perfect for the streets no drone ....Hella aggressive look it up bro...I'm in los angeles as well ....in the same area your in ...that's crazy
Sounds good. I'll look into that. You have an A6? There's another subscriber close to me. It'd be nice to find others that are close and get some meets together.
So i've been researching the exhaust... with test pipe only there is .51 Gallons of less volume compared to OE cats. This creates increased velocity. The 2.25" midpipes with baby resonator flow 80% of what the 2.5" straight pipe does. ( you gain .250 Gallons of volume ). By the time you get to the tunnel brace you have still save .360 gallons of volume compared to OE cats/downpipes/stock baby resonators/midpipe , meaning velocity is increased overall compared to full OEM exhaust. With this setup there is also the least possible turbulence / wave collisions. Carvenexhaust has a beautiful looking 2.5" OD xpipe 30" long with an 8" merge that would help maintain that increased velocity due to the fact that exhaust gases will be likely dropping in temperature now that we are about 11 feet of pipe deep. This brings us to the location of the oem center "suitcase" resonator. I think this is where there should be some 15 degree bent 2.5" pipe (near same position and angle as OEM) , and now the Gibson 'anti rasp' muffler can be pointing straight to the rear. I google searched the inside of the muffler you have , and inside it has an xpipe that has a bunch of 'baffle' style slits/holes evenly spaced out. The OEM mufflers are 'straight through' type with a baffled wall at the entrance packed with acoustic fiberglass and a baffled j tube before a final baffled wall at the exit. I spent a long time calculating the volumes and searching for what inside of the gibson muffler looked like. The store page only has a photo for the MWA type which is just a straight through pipe that is cut at the half way mark. The only other non-packed muffler 2.5" dual inlet/outlet i could find was the flowmaster delta/super 40/44/50. Black widow has some very minimalistic non-packed style mufflers that just have an 'hourglass' type wall inside , they could be a 'new' option compared to vibrant ultraquiets or the borla lamilar type tubes for a rear mufflers delete. Hope youre doing well dude been dropping likes on every comment when i rewatch a video. I really like the Milltek MStip261 , i would love to use those with an RS7 rear valence, too bad they're 300 dollars for left and 300 for the right lmao
Yeah at some point I want to look into re-doing my entire exhaust. Something lighter to save weight would be nice but I want it to sound good also. I see some run Tubular headers but not sure if there's any benefit and they probably add weight.
Good afternoon, a question. You have a video made of the supercharged, I would like to know the name of the 2 filters that the supercharged has, regards
I can't remember exactly but I think this Gibson is 2.5". You'll be able to see the sizes by looking up the Gibson part number and the x-pipe on ECS's website.
nice videos! sounds great!. i have a magnaflow resonated x pipe in downpipes where stock small resonators were and the flowmaster version in the middle of car where the mid muffler was (so 2 resonated x pipes a few feet away from eachother) my issue is what you mentioned. it sounded good but geting more raspy again and im almost certain the pakcing in the magnaflow is completely gone since when under car it sounds like alot of noise now coming from inside that magnaflow. im debating try one of theese gibsons, or a second flowmaster version where the magnaflow was
Yeah people have tried a lot of different things. I might even go with a full aftermarket exhaust later for better sound. I just don't want to add a lot of extra weight if any.
definitely understandable, my current setup is all custom from redstar gutted cats all the way to the rear mufflers. i use the s6 mufflers to remove drone and quad exhaust tips for the aftermarket carbon diffuse i have but in between eveything is some 2.5" stainless pipe

I've been looking at these for a while. Thank you for posting!!! Quieting down my car with test pipes has been a pain in the butt.
I have a similar setup what is the model number of that Gibson exhaust does anybody know it I like to order one
@@michaelhinds6978The part number is 55106S

I wrapped my test pipes but not the downpipes. I might give that a try. The Gibson has seemed to take the actual rasp out though.
@@cmidas3396 wrapping the downpipes made the biggest difference in the world for me, better deeper sound too
@@rafaelbatu7525 I think I might be able to wrap them without removing them.
@@cmidas3396 yea, I did mine under the car. Make sure you wear gloves! Stuff is sharp
@rafaelbatu7525 Yeah I usually use the DEI titanium wrap.

That's weird because those louvers take the sound waves to the inner baffles of a muffler designed for them.
@C Midas hang on I'll find a link to them

That sounds sick, think ima definitely get one of those for my S5
Yeah it took the rasp out. Still might add some resonators later.

I have long tube headers / no cats and AWE touring exhaust, I’m in desperate need for these lol. My last video shows it all if you wanna hear it
Yeah this isn't necessarily gonna quiet the exhaust but it will get the rasp out.
@@cmidas3396 that’s exactly what I want!

Is the Gibson 2.5 or 2.25? The x pipe from ECS is 2.25 right?
If I remember correctly it's 2.5". I think the Ecstuning x-pipe had a reducer clamp.
The Gibson 55106s is 2.5, and the 55105s is 2.25
I can't remember exactly but I think this Gibson is 2.5". You'll be able to see the sizes by looking up the Gibson part number and the x-pipe on ECS's website.
Glad it worked out for you. With the test pipes are you getting a lot of exhaust smell inside the car?
I was at first but it was because I had exhaust leaks that I didn't know about until this was installed. Now there are no smells.
nice videos!

@f4m0u582090 Yeah I think I might look into resonated downpipes the go from there.
Huge difference much better but i think anything resonated sounds way better in my opinion it just sounds more controlling if that makes sense
Yeah I hear these exhaust are hard to get right. I still have the baby resonators so I might put those back in.
So how long did the Gibson last?
It's still going. I still have it on the car now.
Sounds good 👍🏽
Thanks. Still got some work to get it right though. Maybe some resonators.
I hate it 😫 I like that deep addressive sound
It mostly only took the rasp out.
Magnaflow 11366 for 2.5 and 11365 for 2.25
i looked up the number online but i cant find anything saying its anti rasp or anything. Could i get a link for the muffler you used?
I don't have a link. The manufacturer doesn't call it an anti-rasp muffler. That's just what I coined it because of what our community uses it for.
