- Learn how our brain receives information from mechanoreceptors and then responds by controlling muscles in a well-coordinated system, and how all of this can lead to a sneeze, a cough, or even a hiccup! This is called the photic sneeze reflex! Poorly understood, but may have something to do with the input to the brain via the trigeminal nerve (cranial nerve 5).
Why do we cough?
What about sneezing triggered from plucking my left eyebrow?
khanacademymedicine do we get cough reflex in our brain?
@@zariahgoodwithbabydolliesf1663 Sorry, now Khan Academy Medicine doesn't comment anymore.
It's also possible to cough & pass gass at the same time. My mom described it as "coughing on both ends"😄
I loved how he explained this. simple, wonderful. very easy to understand!
Hey thanks for the lesson! It's nice to know how our body works! BTW you're so much better at drawing and writing on your computer, I'm not so good at it, LMAO!
so good. thank you so much!
Khan academy... My favourite tutor...
Excellent work. Great pace. Taught with laymen's terms for all to understand.
Ive read somewhere that the hiccup reflex exists to avoid cold water running into the trachea. Love these lectures!
Thanks from heart 💜
I absaloutly understand every word of this
Very good video. Could you expand on what the distended stomach has to do with the hiccup reflex?
I've told people that I sneeze thru my ears😄. It's not literally coming thru my ears, just can seem that way. I keep my mouth closed & the air comes thru my nostrils sounding like a car horn or duck quacks. I learned it when I was 9 cuz I hate spraying out. Once I had the hiccups when I was 13 & after one single hiccup, I coughed the next second. No more hiccups😁.
Could you post some videos with advanced medical topics?
I've noticed that looking at bright lights when I'm on the "teetering point" of sneezing will often cause the sneeze to go forward. Is there any physiology to this?
what program are you using?
Nice cake Rishi. :D
Can a hiccup be caused if the diaphragm muscle twitches?
Odd, when I sneeze, the air comes mostly from my mouth, not my nose.
Is coughing a loud sound when I cough?
