  • How to unclog a sink.
I did not wear gloves because I didn't use any chemicals. If you tried to use Liquid Plumber or Draino first, please wear gloves.
If this does not fix the clog, it would be best to hire a plumber who will snake your pipes as the clog is beyond the P trap.

I am 63. I like figuring things out. Daddy thought girls should not need tools if you weren’t super poor. He grew up in the depression/WWII. He taught my younger brother.
Daddy died when my brother was 12 (I was 14). I am astounded at how much my brother retained... plumbing, carpentry, electrical.
Now my brother teaches me. First he taught me to fix computers and we did Y2K consulting together. Now he moved across the street after decades out of town. He buys me tools. He is my biggest advocate.
Your channel will help me learn more. Also, you will help my dear friend who just bought her first house and is finishing her Masters so has little cash for calling services to help her out.
    Thanks! Subscribed.

Most newer ovens have a self clean setting. If you put your oven on self clean, usually it will lock the oven door, heat up so hot that it turns everything left in the oven to ash, then you can just wipe out the ash when it's done.
If your oven doesn't have a self-clean option, then easy off spray is always great too!

Some men just don't realize they are the world to their children. They can't know how heartbreaking it is to a child when fathers don't make the effort to focus on a relationship, or they would invest more time on them. It is the most important job of a man's life - raising well-adjusted kids. Reading to a child at bedtime EVERY NIGHT should be a priority...even if Mom did it already. Dad needs to read to them nightly too. Not only does it help build relationships, but school is sooo much easier when they are comfortable with books. My grandsons knew half the words by the time they were 6-7 because they had been automatically following along for awhile as Dad and Mom read to them.

Your step-by-step directions, with your sense of humor, and helpful close-up video, gave me the confidence to attempt the clean-out, and save myself a plumbing bill. Yay! Now the water drains right out, down the drain, where it should! (And you would NOT believe the gunk I cleaned out of it!) That hole in the plug at 5:17 made me think back to 10 years ago when I was a kid wondering why the plug would just pop up and down! no wonder, it was disconnected! I can't believe I'm just learning this. THANK YOU!

Yes, be careful!! Had to take my husband to the ER after he had to get under the house to get to the plug, he found it, laid in chemicals till he had it repaired, and got 3rd degree burns on arms and back! Thanks dad, you’re anointed! 🙏🏼

My mom's bathroom sink has been clogged for a while now, so it was very convenient that I stumbled upon your tutorial today. I tried out what you taught in this video and was able to unclog my mom's bathroom sink all by myself!! Granted, there's still some kind of deeper blockage beyond the p-trap that is still clogging the sink whenever the faucet runs (we'll get a maintenance tech to help with that), but the fact that I now know how to take off and reattach a p-trap is so rewarding!! I also grew up without my biological father in life and briefly had a useless stepfather, so I really commend you for creating this channel for fellow fatherless folks! Thank you so much!

my father was convicted of murdering my mother when i was only a year old, so i never had a father figure that i trusted enough to ask to help me. ive never really had a father figure at all in my life, but now that i’m living on my own, i had a lot of questions about things. every appliance to me felt like it was failing and i went through so many different videos to hopefully find something that was helpful. when i saw the channel name “dad, how do i?” i subconsciously clicked, thinking about all of the times i wanted a father figure to help, and this is an absolute game changer. it’s comforting and now i know how to do most things that my father chose to not be there for. thank you for being here, thank you for being you. thanks, dad 💙

This was so timely! My 16 yr old son and I watched this and I paid him 20 bucks to clean out the clogged drain in the bathroom. You are right - it is SOO gross the stuff that comes out of there - but the water is flowing GREAT now (and it doesn't smell anymore). THANK YOU for posting this video!!!

I too had my dad walk out on my when I was young, so I can relate. I also had no idea how easy it was to remove the trap of the bottom of the sink, so I’ve found a couple of other non-chemical ways to clear sink clogs that may be useful to your viewers and don’t involve removing any sink parts.
For me, most of the clogs happen at the top of the pipe in those four grooves in the circular water trap. If you don’t want to remove the water trap, you can very inexpensively buy a narrow, flexible brush to clean metal drinking straws. Open the water trap in the sink and use the flexible straw brush to clean the four grooves. If that doesn’t work, I have a small plunger that’s made for specifically for sinks, and this is also really inexpensive. Fill the sink with water and start plunging away. The combination of these two things has not yet failed me yet, but, if they do, I now know how to remove the sink trap. Thanks for that!

You can buy a wire screen insert to fit in the drain that will allow water to go down, but not your earrings, bobby pins, etc. Prevention is the best option. (Note: you do have to clean the screen and the drain below it from time to time.)
