You lost me at step one
😂
🐾 ❤️
Think the pet can be trained to provide that support for the shoulder?? If not, then phooey, pet stays to warm feet. ☺️🐕🐾🐈🐈⬛
😂
🤭🙂
I love how your videos are straightforward and to the point. The way you explain things is easy to understand and your personality makes your videos enjoyable to watch. Also, I love dogs. Thank you for your helpful videos. 💜
Thanks, and you're welcome 🐾
After wrestling with all the side issues, knee ligament surgery, broken legs, amputation; I have become a back sleeper and slightly elevate my knees.
Informative
You are amazing!
You literally have a video for every kind of pain I have.
Thank you soooo much for sharing this :)
You're welcome, and thanks! 😎
Years ago I had a book, Maggie's Back Book by Maggie Lettvin. She recommended for people with lower back issues to sleep on your side and bring your knees up towards a fetal position. That opens up your lower spine allowing for blood flow to the discs and healing as you sleep.
I've found this helpful over the years. Please let me know if you don't recommend this.
Thanks!
That's basically what I show in the video, but bringing the knees up too much can cause impingement/irritation at the hips though. So usually around 90 degrees or slightly less is best.
Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks Dr Jo! This is how I've been sleeping for years and I love it. Though the rolled up towel was one I hadn't thought of...im going to try it 😃🙌💗
You're welcome!
Cute dog 😊
Thanks 🐾
Ma'am, Tens unit will help chondromalacia patella pain?
Thanks for the information doc.❤😊
You're welcome.
Just what I was looking for. I started using buckwheat pillow and it helped with my neck pain (and my headaches) but we went through 4 mattresses and my back is hurting so much it wakes me up at night. I will try pillow method and I hope it helps because I’m not even 40 and already can’t stand my back pain 😔
I hope it helps too.
Awwww what a nice doggy
I will try this. I am a 67y/o guy with a history of multiple ortho surgeries and significant arthritis I usually sleep in three hour chunks until I have to walk off pain. It stinks to not get consecutive hours of sleep. I have a sleep number bed and use 35 on my left and 50 when I shift to my right. I wake up feeling like I got hit with a truck and need to walk just to shake the pain. It has an adverse effect on my mental outlook.
I hope it helps.
I already sleep with a body pillow. I may need to try that towel. I’ve been waking up at 0300 every morning with lower back pain.
Can you suggest exercise for Pudendal Neuralgia?
Doctor can i use countor pillow as the neck curve is painful when I get up. I prefer sleeping on left side. Please reply
Love your videos, and Bear in his jammies is so cute! Can you do a video about how to help out a dysfunctional SI joint? I have (undiagnosed) hypermobility and my left side - everything - kills me, and I think it’s because I sleep on my left side. I have always been the person with a thousand pillows on my bed. 😀
Thanks 🐾 I have several videos for the SI joint. You can find all my videos on my channel: ua-cam.com/users/askdoctorjo, and you can use the search tool (the magnifying glass) under the banner on the right side to find specific videos/topics.
I have a bad back and discovered through trial and error all of your suggestions except the hip support over the last 20 years. I never thought about the hip support and I do frequently get hip pain. I'm going to give it a whirl tonight.
I hope it helps.
I've used a long body pillow in the past and it was comfy, my question is, how do I also keep cool in the summer with all the pillow heat build up? I live in Western Australia, where in summer it gets easily over 35°c+ day n night for days in a row, and not all homes have air conditioning.
I'm in Western Australia too!
Hello 😃
I've seen those cooling blankets advertised online, I've wondered if they would work
Where’d you get the booster pillow?
What if it actually is the down shoulder that's uncomfortable rather than the top one?
Greetings Dr Jo.. it will be great if you do series of exercises.and stretches for elderly.folks...especially with conditions.like polios, or injuries.etc..also.for.old.age
.without leaving the house. Can be done in the living room and bedroom.. I saw few elder. They are clueless.about the need on daily stretches..
I actually have several. You can find all my videos on my channel: ua-cam.com/users/askdoctorjo, and you can use the search tool (the magnifying glass) under the banner on the right side to find specific videos/topics.
thanks, just learned something new! I thought if your shoulder or hip is hurting youd always want sleep on the opposite side, i hadnt thought about the pressure that puts on it.😃
You're welcome!
This is basically how I'm sleeping already. I actually have a full-body bolster. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but these days, if I sleep on my left side, I get pins and needles in my left hand the next day 😞Meanwhile, sleeping on my right side does not seem ideal either as I have shoulder bursitis (and I can't fall asleep on my back).
Thanks for this video,❤
oh my, imma need a bigger bed
Hi
Ur vids are always a blessing to reduce discomfort and pain , thank you.
During sleep what about a “neck pillow” the type you would use on a plane or a bus or train travel?
Just curious, especially for a side sleeper ?
You're welcome. I've never tried one, but I think they are designed specifically for an upright position.
@@AskDoctorJo lol my bad ur 100% right
It would probably be detrimental to do so and might cause more harm than good .
pillow recommendations doc? what happens when you turn in your sleep, most of us move in our sleep.
I think if I incorporated more pillows it would help with my leg and shoulder pain from side sleeping (back is worse in other ways), but I can't figure out how to do that and be under the covers. It looks so easy without covers...
Might sound weird but I have found I sleep better with less covers. I used to sleep with at least 3 covers (sheet, blanket, comforter) and while I liked the heavy feeling of being covered, I think it was really restrictive on my body. I’m suddenly waking up with less aches and pains just using one lightweight blanket. Now I want to mix that with this video and see how I sleep.
Which side do you lay on if you have acid reflex problem?
Left side.
Would these tips work if you are a slide sleeper but have to sleep with your head elevated?
I am a side sleeper and started sleeping on a wedge. I got it for sleeping sitting up after surgery, then used it on the gentle slope when I had a really bad cold (couldn't breathe otherwise). Turns out I love it that way and sleep like the dead all night long now. I have a pillow as well, and one for my "up" arm (like she showed), and a long pillow from my knees to my feet. I make sure my spine is straight, so my hip is at the bottom of the wedge and my head is near the top. Try a wedge!
Hi Dr 2 ruptures 8 hour surgery in my cervical spine 3 years ago. Asked surgeon how this happened to me. He said looked like it had been coming on for a long time and added sleeping position! I'm a stomach sleeper. Can fall asleep on sides but wake up and go to stomach. Was told I was born with a shirt spine and small vertebrae and its hereditary. I'm facing another surgery soon. Bone on bone at L5 and S1. I so enjoy your videos and use the prayer stretch and others. Thank you
Short spine
You're welcome. I'm glad you have found some stretches that help.
Hello, I have tinnitus. Of course, my neck muscles also have problems. Are they related?
I have a video for cervical tinnitus. You can find all my videos on my channel: ua-cam.com/users/askdoctorjo, and you can use the search tool (the magnifying glass) under the banner on the right side to find specific videos/topics.
Hello my left lower leg portion is swollen from 5 months and i have a plastic surgery of my left thigh 1 year back doctor also provided me a pressure garment for left leg to wear it for 1 to 2 month what i have to do
I hope you reply Fast or not ignored this
From indIa
Unfortunately, I don't know that answer since I can't evaluate you. Everyone is different. If there is any way you can see a physical therapist in person, they should be able to help you figure out a specific program for you and help answer your questions.
@@AskDoctorJo thank you for this
You're welcome. Good luck.
What about stomach sleepers 😭😭 I’m side and stomach and I know that tear my back up 🤣
I would find this one is not for me cause when onside gets hot I turn over even with my pillows I change those to when they are to hot 😂
And this is why it's beneficial as a grown adult to sleep with stuffed animals!
