The oil service, next time get the 14ml bolts in till they start to get tight (hitting the back yet use fingers and be gentle), then manually pull on the bolts. If you turn them in using the wrench like you did you run the risk of damaging the threads behind for the original bolts over time. Also your o-rings need grease applying before it goes back in (SHELL Retinax HD2). If you would like the 1199/1299 wprkshop manuals, which are very close to the V2, then please shout as I am happy to share them.
Yep I did this to my V2!, luckily the factory bolts re threaded.... I'll try the pulling method next time. Threads lasted 3 changes with that method at least.
Hey Bill, thanks for the video, very informative. However, it doesn't show or explain how to reset the service warning light. Can that be done or do you need to take it to dealer to reset it for you?
Very helpful and well explained every step of the way. Just one thing left, after the oil change, how to reset the maintenance icon on the screen.??? Thanks
Hi Bill, just a few points for further discussion:1.) oil change new motorcycle before 1000 km (600+ miles) 2.) warranty. To my point of view, oil change before 1000km is not really necessary with the very high oil quality (100% synthetic) these days and these little tinny metal parts, well the magnetic oil plug does the job. My second point is even more important. In theory changing oil + filter yourself can lead to loosing your warranty of the new bike and that is very tricky as you can imagine. For example: shortly after oil change there is a gearbox problem, what will happen when the dealer finds out the oil & filter has been changed!? Kind regards from Moscow.
Question - you said you use 300V for all bikes that go on the track. 7100 is supposed to be used for systems with Catalytic Converters. What is your take on this? I use 7100 because I don’t have an aftermarket full system (yet). EDIT: I re-read Motul’s website product info and then7100 is for JASO MA2, which is what my BMW requires.

Great vid. Bill you do realise that all oil is carcinogenic and as such it is mega dangerous to not wear gloves. It is really bad to touch old oil. Please be safe. We need more vids like this.
So this very simple and fast task is what all those motorcycle service centers are charging nearly five to six hundred dollars for. Bunch of con artists.
Shavings ...? A motor shouldn't have Shavings in it ever. If your new motor has Shavings in it that's no good think about it if any motor has Shavings they will get in between the bearings and then that motor is done. Those Shavings on your drain bolt was clutch material right?

Hey man, nice vid. Please keep in mind to put some oil on the o-rings before inserting the part

What’s the size of the screws to pull the filter cover out ????
Thanks - great explanation and will use this when I change my oil on my V2!

Just a heads up. There is supposed to be another screw for the bottom fairing. It's at the very front when you look at the radiator.

The v300 it's better???
There is an aftermarket oil filter cover that doesn’t need those push out bolts. I bought it last year. Just can’t remember the name of the company
Which oil do u use if the bike is mostly street use?
how to reset the oil light?

If it takes 2-3 mins to cycle through engine i think that would be a problem. You can probably check after a few seconds.

I’m sure there’s better synthetic oil than that one for Ducati.
