I'm a metalhead, mostly metalcore and deathcore, but twenty one pilots is definitely my favorite band. I don't know what it is, maybe Tyler's lyrics that are so relatable, the beats, the switch ups, idk but they're just so unique
@@mmf-rulesbands with huge "lore stuff" use to be quite interesting, regardless of the genre. It shows compromise to make good art (as long as the band is the main composer (where Tyler shines A LOT, he's a fantastic storyteller - and I think Josh contributes as well, let's not overlook his importance), not something just thrown into mere performers by outside composers).
Their music crosses, spans, and mixes a lot of genres. Want screams? They have it. Want bars? They have it. Want soul-crushingly beautiful vocals. They have it.
really enjoyed your reaction to this! the band released a video before this called 'I Am Clancy' that kinda gives an overview of the story they've been telling over the last few albums, leading up to this video about a character called 'Clancy' trapped in a city called 'Dema' in a world Tyler created called Trench, which is kinda a metaphor for battling again insecurities and dealing with mental health issues. i think their 'cult' following is partly due to their strong emphasis on mental health in their lyrics and also the 'lore' which motivates fans to dive deeper to understand the other layers behind their lyrics and music videos and interact with each other online as they try to uncover the clues left by the band online.
Good overview! I don't know the lore well, but from the recent video I think they explained Trench is a continent (as opposed to the name of the planet/universe).
i love this reaction, too many reactors are too scared to say something isn't their thing. it's okay to have your own preference and still appreciate things outside of that preference
You nailed one of our American superpowers. We absorb words from outside cultures, blindly mispronounce them, and then mock others for not mispronouncing them with us. LOL Uh-Dee-Duss 'til I die 🤣
This song serves two purposes: 1) to transition into this new era, which is the final chapter of the Dema/Bishop storyline (lore) by introducing the character of Clancy, and 2) it will be the concert opener. That’s where this song and the band shines. Their live concerts are epic! Definitely try to see them live. Thats where they’ve built their massive fanbase - out on the road. If you like Fred again … you should check out Ren’s acoustic mashup of 5 of Fred agains songs.
TØP’s last album was propaganda (as part of their lore) so it has a sickly happy and poppy vibe… CLANCY is going to be heavier, more serious, with battle tones as a continuation of the lore - I AM SO HYPED FOR IT!!!! Love Twenty One Pilots sooo freakin’ much |-/
Yup he basically has made every single concept / album for his band. Of course with professionals but he’s said himself he has to be make sure everything is how he wants
Twenty One Pilots are my favorite band. They are unbelievable live. I have seen them in a vary small venue and also a huge venue. Both were brilliant and was hard to decide which was better. I think the small venue was so special. I am going to see them again next year. The music is ao different on every album. Vessel was very rappy,Blurryface was so Reggie. Trench was different again Scaled and Icy was more Pop.And this Album is a lot more like Trench. They are a band who change all the time.Love them.
I don’t even know the lore myself I just love top’s music. I’m not a part of the clique but I’m an avid listener since 2014. Good music is just good music at the end of the day
Firstly ….Nathan in first with all the corny jokes for a change 🤣 Thank you Thankyou for this reaction. Didn’t disappoint I knew math would kinda like it but that it wouldn’t be Johnny’s vibe. I knew though that he’d appreciate Josh drumming. This is very lore heavy wrapping up a storyline that’s evolved over the last few albums-unless you are a big fan I wouldn’t expect you to understand it from a casual perspective. And you guys are way too busy to dive into that! I appreciate you honesty & the respect you show artists whether you vibe with it or not! I love the track & am so looking forward to the rest of the album. I really feel like it’s a culmination of all the styles over the last 3 albums (there is a story line to the difference we saw in the last album- it’s kinda complicated & I have my own theory on it too). And I’m with you ..adi-das not adeedus 🤣🤣🤣 but what can we do 🤷🏼♀️
it's totally fine that you don't know the lore actually, the albums have always been written so there's no prerequisite to enjoy them, but it is extra rewarding once you know the story, and it is the most rewarding now for us who have been following it for more than 7 years. so whatever you choose to do
@@Hellavit that's just you then. fans who followed more closely have known about this for almost 10 years. they made this at the end of the story so people who havent picked up on it can know about it too
I didn't enjoy this song, I wanted to. I really enjoy most of their songs, but this one didn't strike me. Just feels a bit bland for me, sadly. Thanks for the reactions lads, definitely in the Johnny camp for this song

Same
These guys are storytellers too, which makes the albums more interesting and unique, top band in my opinion, one of my favorite bands in a long time

A video on Twenty One Pilots channel named: “i’m Clancy” explains the lore of the band

Welcome back to Trench! 🔥
3:49 "Prodigy vibes" you sir are so right..I didn't even pick up on the similarities there.
Clancy and Nico(la) .. Coincidence? I DON‘T THINK SO
Hahaha was thinking the sane
I think you're onto something 😜
I thought the same!!!!
There is another song that just released yesterday by them called Next Semester. Y’all should react to it when given the chance.
Listen to I'm Clancy. Tyler explains everything there.

I love your banter before and after the actual reactions 💛 adds so much to the video - keep it going lads 🤩
6:30 I mean not just a singer and a drummer. Tyler writes the music and plays all the other instruments as well as singing

This album needs to be baddiecore so badly
"21 Pilots"
No… Twenty One Pilots :)
they are SO back. like scaled and icy was eh, but this... this is great
Nobody knew the lore of TØP up until like a week ago when they dropped the “Im Clancy” video. Years of lore summed up in one short video.
a loooot of people knew about it before that lol. it’s been ongoing since like 2015, just never formally summarized by the band til recently
Most of it was already basically confirmed, this is just the first time they’ve actually officially acknowledged it
I’ve never known of anybody that knew the story haha whenever the video came out so many people were shocked lol

never say "21 pilots" unless you want the toxic part of the fan base coming for ya ahaha
What do you say then?
