So the actual rhyme with Jamjars for the move is the N64 version is they're, once more, rhyming C with Be. This is the full rhyme. "When faced by danger jump on top, Now in the backpack you can hop! Hold button Z and then press Down-C, Safely inside is where you'll be!"
I always found the Cloud Cuckooland Canary Mary challenge to be “keep a rhythm, keep pace with Canary Mary until moments before the end, then MASH LIKE CRAZY!!” Listening to John Mashing from start to finish is incredibly insane to me,
It's definitely bullshit, but there is another way to beat the second Canary Mary race without breaking your hand. If you mash hard enough to be right behind her, her rubber banding doesn't kick in. Then near the end you can go hard and mash it up. If I remember correctly, her rubber banding accelerates slowly the longer you're ahead of her (Boggy's sled race had a less aggressive version of this) so you should have plenty of time at the end to stay ahead before she goes super sonic. She also, again if I recall correctly, slows down if you're behind.
4:45 Forgot Mildred said that if you talked to her again so yeah, she had it coming, while I actually feel bad for George and even more so considering their death quotes. 14:08 Luckily that isn't the case in this game so it's worth getting a score high enough to get the best prize if you can. You might want to replay the minigames to get a higher score just for bragging rights, but as I said since you can do so from the main menu they shouldn't ask you in the main game since it's more annoying than anything. 20:51 Good job winning this Canary Mary race first try Jon... 23:47 ... and even more so winning the second one first try too, that was impressive! By the way, thanks for talking about the strategy so people who'll play this game themselves in the future won't have to suffer as much as we did. 26:50 Yep, we're finally helping poor Dippy! Banjo and Kazooie being able to talk to him from up here makes no sense, but I'll gladly take it over having to backtrack just to get the Jiggy. 34:50 Have no idea if it's supposed to happen, but this is hilarious for sure! 39:37 Happy to hear that, Cloud Cuckooland is a pretty fun world (except for Canary Mary) in my opinion, too!
Mr. Fit was apparently more popular than we would've thought initially, since he returned in Nuts & Bolts as a recurring mission NPC. Here in Cloud Cuckooland, we see the return of probably the best transformation from the first game, the BEE?! And it's even better than ever with a new stinger launch attack. The dark and tragic saga of the ice cube couple continues, as George faces a fate as grim as Mildred's, all because he's blocking something we need... Bra-freaking-VO for managing to conquer Canary Mary both times here! Well done, Jon! And we've got the final move in the game, rounding out Banjo's repertoire of backpack-based maneuverability.
I always had SO MUCH trouble opening the Zubbas' beehive. It was the third-most frustrating thing in this world for me (behind Canary Mary and the Pot o' Gold)
I'm guessing the cash register sound is because they're supposed to evoke those little sign thingies that pop up in old-timey cash registers, like for example that stereotypical "no sale" sign?
No I'm not going to let this be ignored; Protonjon is goated! Man beat the bird both times with 1 try after not playing this for years. This was a victory for all Banjo-Tooie players! Get this man into the hall of fame!
Given that the Xbox version doesn't have the Nintendo 64's lag - which Rare used to compensate to a degree for the massive rubber-banding - Canary Mary is WAY harder in that version. And then Jon comes along and blitzes it. You two are one hell of a power couple. Mad props to you both!
I believe the last notes are underwater in the central cavern - not in the pool where the glowbo was, and not in the drained pool that's no longer got water in, but in the remaining pool that exits out to, if memory serves, the green pool. The trick I use against Canary Mary in her fourth race is to stay just behind her until the Zubba statue and then go full speed on the home stretch - finishing before the rubber-banding can kick in. The remaining jiggies: - Superstash: the last number is beneath the jello heart near the level entrance. If you go out the exit with the last notes, I think that puts you close by. - Inside the cheese, where a clockwork kazooie can't jump high enough to grab it. - inside the jello castle, where a clockwork kazooie can't jump high enough to grab it. - Mr Fit: two more events to go, starting with the sack race - Pot o' Gold. I believe you don't need to use the rainbow bridge, but it does make getting in easier. I believe it was possible when you visited last episode, but you carefully avoided doing the one right thing to make further progress. Incidentally, have you turned up the brightness on your TV yet? The remaining jinjo in this level is the one you saw inside the cheese this episode. If you get all the jiggies, you'll unavoidably also get the last Cheato page. You also have one bean left to plant, and Mumbo hasn't got off his chair yet.
Fly above where Humba's teepee is to see something shaped like a particular internal organ. Grats Jon for 2/2, When I did that as a kid my thumb was numb at the end...I have no idea how many tries it took and I used a MadKatz GC controller since it had the turbo button
I maintain: We need to do a retro react of weird Canadian stuff sometime soon. Zoobilee Zoo (is it Canadian? I'm pretty sure it was on TVO at one point...), Today's Special, Don't You Put It In Your Mouth and other weird PSAs, Polkaroo...
As someone who watched their brother try to do the Canary Mary race for hours just a couple of weeks ago and dug up every single tip that he could in the process, it's pretty impressive to see Jon just win like that. (And yeah, no. She is exactly the same on the 360 version. Heck we were curious if she's technically harder due to the lack of lag.)
Seeing and hearing the Canary Mary races section... Wow. Nice job on that! Vindication indeed. And I agree with Lucah, the bird is a rubberbanding cheater, pausing is perfectly fine. (and those who don't need it, for the love of crow do you need to ice your fingers or something?) Pausing also seems to buffer/stack your inputs a little when its 'unpausing' during the time between "return to game" being clicked and the game actually starting to move again. If anyone's having trouble having her, try pausing a LOT more during the race, and mashing more during that frozen moment.
Some people are just great button mashers and don't need any really crazy tricks. Jon made himself out to not be one of them until this race; he was definitely underestimating himself.
The Eyeball Flowers and Mingy Jongo both have their origins in questions from Grunty's Furnace Fun. :D Mingy Jongo was a wrong answer when asked Mumbo's name, and the Eyeball Flower was in a Gruntilda question, being potentially right if Brentilda picked it. Also Jon smokes Canary Mary so well all the miners ran out of the mine. Well done! :D
Zoobilee Zoo to victory, nice. Really impressed Jon managed two consecutive first try Canary Mary’s, based on how he and the comments talked about it as well as just how bullshit it looked I definitely wouldn’t’ve been surprised if that outright just never got done, I can’t imagine there’s cheats left, are there? Maybe unlimited resources or something…
There isn't a brute force way to solve the safe but there is abusing the seams of the door to just shoot a clockwork egg in there to get the prize! It's not too hard of a setup, but it is a fun little trick of the game.
Fun fact, high jump attempts are only disqualified if they knock the bar down. You can hit it as much as you want, even stand on it and do a jig(gy), and you're still good as long as the bar doesn't fall. -You may be disqualified for bad showmanship & bad sportsmanship, and for just being a twat in general, but not for failing the high jump!- And the cave dorks sound like a cash register because they pop up like the little tags on really old cash registers.
dang it lucah, I watch these great banjo-tooie videos & now I'm getting recommended asmr horseshoe/hoof restoration videos. what game are you playing with the algorithm!?
every time you get hit by the hotdog either my roommate or wife go "get glizzied." its now become a war in the home with plushie hotdogs. we have you to thank for this. XD
A good trick I find for canary Mary since she has ridiculous rubber banding is pressing the button slowly enough to stay right behind her the whole time then once you get near the end spam the button
9:17 the entrance for that is above the pool by its side, there is a ledge where you can shoot the clockwork eggs (last combination digit) 11:09 place two to plant the other seed is on the lower orange island 17:28 notes missing water entrances and jamjars are where the missing notes are. Banjo move and last move of the game 18:52 No, need banjo only 29:18 the idea is to bring ONLY banjo to the cheese(long puzzle), the clockwork egg doesnt jump high enough 38:50 sign explained it XD last note is by the entrance where you found the first glowbo in the pool entrance
Jiggies remaining: 1) Pot of Gold (includes a cheato) 2) Cheese (includes a jinjo) 3) anteater 2nd and 3rd event 4) Jelly castle(requires banjo only) 5) Safe combination, button located under the heart shape jelly
i actually clapped when jon beat the second race lmao, i didn't think it was possible to get that jiggy and cheato page in the xbox version without a turbo button
2:26 But you didn’t knock the pole off and that’s all that matters…I think. I forget if touching the pole at all in the actual event is a disqualification. 4:14 See Lucah? Mildred wasn’t lying. George really was sent up to the sky. 5:00 Don’t worry Reese; he was never going to see his wife again in this life anyhow. You only had to kill George for that. Mildred was just holding onto a Jinjo for a completely different Jiggy. Also I had no idea that she was that stubborn. She did in fact have it coming. 6:33 You’re right, it is shoot it. You just don’t have the correct projectile is all. You gotta have something sharp to poke the eye out. 7:42 Reese saying “of course”. You don’t even know what it is yet! 9:00 You also have access to Airborne aiming while doing this. Very useful for dealing with the eyeballs and a later Jiggy. 11:26 It’s actually a Zubba. 12:30 Took them long enough to do that. This is the last one of these minigames too with the colored targets. 19:13 Humba’s bee is objectively better than Mumbo’s. I forgot that you had to beat her twice until I saw the comments… 20:44 At least it’s not spinning your control stick. And Jon said he wouldn’t do it first try. Also yeah, here comes the extreme rubber banding…this is what I was thinking of. 22:50 …Why isn’t she rubber banding? Oh wait, there she is. 23:16 Wait…pausing works? Oh my gods…I never knew. Well now I have no fears should this come to NSO! 27:55 That’s one less world you have to backtrack to. 29:12 But he doesn’t know what it means to be sad. You sang that in a song once. 30:50 There is a Jiggy in here, but just like the Jello castle, it’s too high for Clockwork Kazooie. Rare knew you’d try this. 34:52 I’m telling you, Cloud Cuckooland does not know what to do with Kazooie between the bubble lift and these flower cannons. 37:12 The cheese, the pot of gold, one more seed, and the Jello castle. 40:15 Pot of Gold, Mr. Fit, Cheese, the safe, and Jello castle all have one Jiggy each. The final Cheato page requires finding an entryway under that jello heart outdoors. The last Jinjo in this world is in the cheese and will provide the final Jiggy from the Jinjos. As for the remaining four Jiggies outside of CCL, there’s one in GGM that requires the spring shoes, two in JLR (Tiptup’s egg and the swimming pool), and one from Grunty Industries (bottom of a toxic pool).
You CAN do the pot-o-gold without that rainbow, you already made it inside, you just need to shoot eggs into the holes but your low brightness level doesn't allow you to see which one is which.

So the actual rhyme with Jamjars for the move is the N64 version is they're, once more, rhyming C with Be. This is the full rhyme.
"When faced by danger jump on top,
Now in the backpack you can hop!
Hold button Z and then press Down-C,
Safely inside is where you'll be!"
I always found the Cloud Cuckooland Canary Mary challenge to be “keep a rhythm, keep pace with Canary Mary until moments before the end, then MASH LIKE CRAZY!!” Listening to John Mashing from start to finish is incredibly insane to me,
With this series coming to close, I just wanted to say:
I hope you’ll play Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward next!
N&B is not canon, everypony knows. :P
All we have to do to cure cancer and solve climate change is to have Lucahjin sing. Because anything is possible so long as she sings.
34:48 they acknowledge Kazooie in the plant
Wow, Jon! Kudos on victory over Canary Mary! The mashing reminded me of International Track & Field on PSOne...
Wow congratulations on that damn bird race. I never knew of that pause trick so I’m tempted to go back and try it.
4:13 that moment of horrified understanding... oof. And one-shotting the Awful Bird Woman (twice!) is an accomplishment. Well done.
T-Twice… He beat Canary Mary TWICE?! Jon you legend!! And Lucah’s singing was something else as well. 😋
I always had SO MUCH trouble opening the Zubbas' beehive. It was the third-most frustrating thing in this world for me (behind Canary Mary and the Pot o' Gold)
Jon is a legend beating both Canary Mary races on his first try! Excllent job!
That was some impressive mashing Jon, well done!
George and Mildred? Most likely a reference to the British sitcom Man About the House, the show America's Three's Company was based on.
Nicely done on the first tries Jon! I remember having to pause 10+ times to get that damn page..
I get migraines so I feel you Lucah, moving stuff can definitely mess with me too❤️
Zoobilee Zoo, the new theme of mashing, I'm going to have to sing that every time I replay this game because my right wrist doesn't work anymore
I definitely had to look up Zoobilee Zoo after Lucah started singing the theme song as I've never heard of it before.
Given that the Xbox version doesn't have the Nintendo 64's lag - which Rare used to compensate to a degree for the massive rubber-banding - Canary Mary is WAY harder in that version. And then Jon comes along and blitzes it. You two are one hell of a power couple. Mad props to you both!
fun fact i'm pretty sure that sack pack move is how you were intended to get that one toxic waste jiggy in Grunty Industries
You've seen where all the remaining Jiggies are. Just gotta make it happen.
The remaining jiggies:
- Superstash: the last number is beneath the jello heart near the level entrance. If you go out the exit with the last notes, I think that puts you close by.
- Inside the cheese, where a clockwork kazooie can't jump high enough to grab it.
- inside the jello castle, where a clockwork kazooie can't jump high enough to grab it.
- Mr Fit: two more events to go, starting with the sack race
- Pot o' Gold.
Ive never seen someone brute force canary mary like that, usually you're supposed to sandbag on purpose so she doesnt rubber band. Props to you.
Sack Pack N64:
When faced by danger jump on top,
Now in the backpack you can hop!
Hold Button Z and then press Up-C,
Safely inside is where you'll be!
You pretty much vindicated everyone who hated her or racing her back then John you earned it
I think the cash register sound ight just come from them popping out of the ground like nubers to on the top of an old cash register.
I like how Jon apologizes for making an inadvertent cheese pun lol.
Bless you
Its funny how Banjo can get inside the back in 3 different ways.
Seeing and hearing the Canary Mary races section... Wow. Nice job on that!
Vindication indeed. And I agree with Lucah, the bird is a rubberbanding cheater, pausing is perfectly fine. (and those who don't need it, for the love of crow do you need to ice your fingers or something?)
Pausing also seems to buffer/stack your inputs a little when its 'unpausing' during the time between "return to game" being clicked and the game actually starting to move again.
If anyone's having trouble having her, try pausing a LOT more during the race, and mashing more during that frozen moment.
38:14 - 38:36 is Lucah's expert impression of a UA-cam/Twitch commenter
Some people are just great button mashers and don't need any really crazy tricks. Jon made himself out to not be one of them until this race; he was definitely underestimating himself.
Cloud Cuckooland really just seems like a melting pot of all the ideas that Rare had, but had no clue where else to place.
The second I saw the fact that the water was too hot I was like “She’s going to have to kill her husband to cool the water”
The Canary Mary secret.
Pausing in the middle of the race.
Yes, that's all you need to know to beat Canary Mary.
Now that you've finished the black Jinjo family you should experience the full house back in Jinjo village!
id never heard of zoobalee zoo but im a believer now
6:08 i mean, you save a Jinjo from becoming ice food.
34:48 Kazooie loses her fricken mind.
Fit cheesy safe gold jello. Those are the remaining jiggies. You actually MIGHT be able to get all of them in 40 minutes, but it will be super close.
When I was a kid, I always used to think that the clockwork kazooie eggs were saying “nickel nickel” when you picked them up
There isn't a brute force way to solve the safe but there is abusing the seams of the door to just shoot a clockwork egg in there to get the prize! It's not too hard of a setup, but it is a fun little trick of the game.
Love the song Lucahjin flashbacks
Fun fact, high jump attempts are only disqualified if they knock the bar down. You can hit it as much as you want, even stand on it and do a jig(gy), and you're still good as long as the bar doesn't fall. -You may be disqualified for bad showmanship & bad sportsmanship, and for just being a twat in general, but not for failing the high jump!-
And the cave dorks sound like a cash register because they pop up like the little tags on really old cash registers.
Kudos to Jon for beating Canary Mary on the first tries. Pausing to rest the hand is a method I always tend to use, so there’s no shame in doing that.
dang it lucah, I watch these great banjo-tooie videos & now I'm getting recommended asmr horseshoe/hoof restoration videos. what game are you playing with the algorithm!?
The second race actualy doesn't require much button mashing at all until the end. The first one you need to mach speed those presses, i'm amazed
A bee?!
every time you get hit by the hotdog either my roommate or wife go "get glizzied." its now become a war in the home with plushie hotdogs. we have you to thank for this. XD
A good trick I find for canary Mary since she has ridiculous rubber banding is pressing the button slowly enough to stay right behind her the whole time then once you get near the end spam the button
That may not work, since the race ends early if she gets too far ahead.
That's why you stay right behind her the whole time, that way she doesn't get too far ahead
9:17 the entrance for that is above the pool by its side, there is a ledge where you can shoot the clockwork eggs (last combination digit)
11:09 place two to plant the other seed is on the lower orange island
17:28 notes missing water entrances and jamjars are where the missing notes are. Banjo move and last move of the game
18:52 No, need banjo only
29:18 the idea is to bring ONLY banjo to the cheese(long puzzle), the clockwork egg doesnt jump high enough 38:50 sign explained it XD
last note is by the entrance where you found the first glowbo in the pool entrance
Jiggies remaining:
1) Pot of Gold (includes a cheato)
2) Cheese (includes a jinjo)
3) anteater 2nd and 3rd event
4) Jelly castle(requires banjo only)
5) Safe combination, button located under the heart shape jelly
i actually clapped when jon beat the second race lmao, i didn't think it was possible to get that jiggy and cheato page in the xbox version without a turbo button
I forgot that you had to beat her twice until I saw the comments…
20:44 At least it’s not spinning your control stick.
I'm pretty sure the remaining Cheato is second prize in Pot O' Gold. The Jello Heart guards the final switch for the safe.
You CAN do the pot-o-gold without that rainbow, you already made it inside, you just need to shoot eggs into the holes but your low brightness level doesn't allow you to see which one is which.
Another trick to Canary Mary is to grab a pen or pencil and roll it back and forth over the button. Less strenuous on your hand.
12:28 bless you
A BEE???
