All OM642 engines with 50-100k miles from passenger Mercedes will have clogged oil rings and worn out main bearings of first neck on crank. I bought over 50 engines like that for cores - NONE of them was good enough to be reused in Sprinter.
its running fairly strong but I will have to wait and see just how long it lasts, sounds like this isn't a great alternative then which is a shame, curious as to why these engines are so inferior, is it perhaps due to them being tuned for an extra 100 horse power? Also noticed there are very few suv om642s that make it past 200k
