How to Catch Up in War Within's Pre-Patch

- Season 4 of Dragonflight has added a ton of new catchup systems, and I recently used them to get a fresh Guardian Druid ready for raiding in just under a day. In this video I'll explain how I did it and how you can too.
While the pre-patch for The War Within is now live, it changes nothing about this guide. The new event, which arrives on July 30th, only has mediocre catchup gear which is equivalent to world quests in Dragonflight. You can farm it if you want to skip some of the early steps in this guide, but it's not very important.

**Update for TWW's Pre-Patch**: Although this guide was created at the start of Season 4, the recommended gearing path is functionally unchanged with the addition of the pre-patch event. The new event is one of the worst things ever added to this game as far as catch-up gear is concerned. It's actually faster and easier to get full 480 pieces just by doing world events throughout Dragonflight. If you decide to participate in the pre-patch event, I'd recommend saving your currency for the mounts and pets. The only worthwhile item you can get from this is a single piece of random Champion gear once per week. Your first boss kill (either Ragnaros, Onyxia, or Lich King, doesn't matter) will give you this box, and that's on par with the weekly quest rewards from Dragonflight world events. Otherwise, the gearing path is unchanged for people trying to get caught up during pre-patch.

I appreciate the video I love wow but as a new player I'm always so lost at what to do and how a lot of currencies work. Wish there was a better ui explaining and sorting types of quests, etc in game instead of having to look up everything online
On one hand there are new quest UI changes coming with the next expansion, but having played around with it, they don't help much at all. The reality is that WoW is and always has been a pretty confusing game for new players. I've been playing this game almost constantly since 2006, and I still regularly need to look things up on Wowhead to find answers to questions I encounter. It's just part of playing this game.
@@Harldan1 I've been playing for about a year and a half now so starting to get the hang of it but still a bit hard remembering what certain things do. I personally like roaming around solo questing and exploring the most so I'm excited for delves and hopefully more stuff in the future that rewards that kind of play style

Make your most likely class/character that you will love it to play ....
Better have your favourite Faction all classes....

Now you can level for a 1-2 days / like they said 525+ .../
Before Player was able to see all zones/territories or lore and cinematics.......Now you can't !!!
Better be patient and watch all of its lore/history ...or you'll be confused like me :( my Drake / Boss / Onyxia Lair 8 years /every possible kill to have chance to have it 0.10% ....can't fly like before and after 3 months they make it.....

Unfortunately a few servers are like that, WoW can be difficult to play if you aren't on one of the major servers.
I just want to add a point that many may have overlooked : when your character will reach 60 or currently having a character sitting at level 60, after the 10.2.7 update, your character can become a God. Because DF world quests will be available at 60 and after 10.2.7, the world quests that will reward gears (plenty every week with 2 cds) at ilvl 350 for level 60 characters. This is insanely strong for any characters from 60 till at least 67-68. Try it out and you will have a much easy leveling journey now under the new patch.
Interesting, I didn't know the WQ rewards scaled that high now. It seems like that might be an oversight though, so it might get changed later on.
Has anyone else heard that the item Everglowing Ember quest item is dropping currently from heroic Fyrakk?
I have no weekly Valdrakken quest on my alt which is sad, thought the whole point of warbands was so this type of stuff is shared.. seems I have to do the entire campaign as there is no portal usage either.
What does “ready for raiding” gear wise means? What iLvl?
If you mean lvl 70 boost thats called that it's 424 I belive
Do lfr first, try to reach 476ish then go run normal raid. Then run m0/2s until you feel ready for heroic raid.
I didn't really put that much thought into the phrase when I said it, but I'd say ~490 ballpark should be more than fine for all players if you're just planning on doing Heroic. My guild was already doing Mythic Vault last week with the 486 we had leftover from Season 3, so it's more about your personal comfort level.

I think it was only recently added in Season 4.
Last hurrah is bugged the last objective of dragonkeep dissappears the moment you enter the zone.
Dragonbane Keep is on a 2 hour cycle. The map display is bugged, you just need to check Wowhead to find the timer and wait for the event to start.
I'm stuck at 446 ilvl. I have every slot at 454+ except trinkets which are both 350. It doesn't seem like you can get trinkets from dreamsurges unless its specifically from a world quest. How should I go about upgrading these slots?
There are tons of ways to earn trinkets. If for some reason you really can't get any after doing all of the world events, try Time Rifts. A vendor sells a few guaranteed trinkets.

So, it's only complicated if you try to eat it all.
It seems to me, very simple to progress, there are essentially 4-5 sources of gear, and 3-4 tiers to press through any (individually)
That individually I think is where this video format fails. He explains it all. I don't pvp. I don't push mythic. I just raid.
Lfr. Normal. Heroic. Mythic. Done.
It's as simple for dungeons, arenas, or battle grounds.
This video just explains all of it in detail which makes it intimidating with big words. Tldr is just do the thing and profit.
Literally no shot you did this in less than 24 hrs.

No need to have a guild. (Some of us can’t stand the guild aspect of all MMORPGs.)
Then the last two ways of progressing turn into raiding needing a guild or repeating the same mythics that became boring after the second time.

Catching up, is relative to the player. A Mythic player that took a break is going to be different than someone that at best does some LFR or Normal runs. Your item level expectations from Vet gear, is over inflated. You make it seem like people are going to be item level 460+ in a few days.
I went from below 440 to 480 in a day in open world and lfr content
I have no idea what you're talking about. As a Mythic raider this is all of the things that I did to get caught up, and it's exactly the same strategy that my friends who just got into the game have been using. Nothing in this video requires you to be a Mythic raider. Additionally, I started doing Mythic Vault of the Incarnates around 490 item level, so there's not many extra steps required outside of running a few M+ dungeons.
bro i legit got from level 60 to level 70 with ilvl 475 (had some help of friends that were running dungeons, but still its easy to catch up)
in a day, i wanted to say
You can literally fly in dream zone and collect the small green balls and collect the awakenwd whelpling crests to create a full 486 ilvl set on a nee character for under 5000 gold and under 3-4 hours :) i went from 430-482 on my warr in 4 hrs
Whats the point in constantly unlocking better gear if they just "catch up" all the shitters? This model is degrading and its wild that its still trapping people after 20 years.
Speaking as someone with max ilvl gear who has already cleared all of the Awakened Mythic Raids, you really need to get the fuck over yourself. The "shitters" you refer to are casual players who play the game for different reasons. They have every right to want an interesting gear progression system even if the hardest content they'll tackle is a Mythic 0. This model is not degrading in the slightest to someone like me who wants to optimize my character, it's one of the best systems we've had in years, since it encourages new player to dip their toes into the endgame and try out harder content.
TLDR: You're a fucking loser and people like you are the problem with this game.
@@Harldan1 every patch, all the gear you earned is dated, and every xpac you replace the purples with greens. If you can't see how degrading that is you absolutely deserve this shitty game 😂
TLDR: I don't waste my time with that shitty game anymore and I hope you eventually can see why people are leaving in droves.
@@clarksmith494 it's true that in WoW every once in a while everything gets outdated, but that's also the strength of this game. I much rather have this system where i have to grind again for bis gear, but still have a basic knowledge of my class/spec. You can also buy another game and finish that game and then you had a nice experience, but the game finished and you have to start a totally different game. The negative vibe around this system is just bs. What do you want? You want the bis gear from the first expansion to be the final gear of wow and then what? Run around and tell people how cool you are????
