Have you ever wondered how to make coconut butter at home? Creamy, rich, and coconutty. It’s easier than you think, and the entire process takes less than a minute.
All you need is dried coconut and a high-speed blender. I use my Vitamix, and the whole process, from start to finish, takes about 50 seconds. If you don’t own a high-speed blender, you can make coconut butter in a food processor. However, the process is less efficient and can take up to 20 minutes. You will also have to stop the food processor from time to time to scrape down the sides.

Aw, thank you so much! That means a lot!
Hi 👋 Happy Holidays from my family to yours🎆 Have a wonderful holiday season. Easy coconut butter. Love it❣️ Thank you, you are my favorite chef, and I've learned a lot from you. Thank you with love and appreciation 💗 🥰😊🥰
Thank you so much, Jo! Happy New Year :)
excelent music. relaxing voice. thanks
Thank you so much!
I love this kind of "principal" recipe... Like the flax seed tortillas. These things are a new frontier of healthy food and make my day every time I see them. This is just incredible, how simple basic foods can transfer to another. At the end, we are eating only a couple of things, but in different formats, which have surprisingly different taste and texture.
Thank you so much again, and Merry Christmas.
So true! I think about this a lot, actually. Happy New Year :)
We will kill the unhealthy industrial food..
That just bless my mind! I love making nut butters, but that was a walk in the park. Like the last person I have shredded coconut, coconut flakes, powder all over my cupboard I think they'll begathered up in no time now and transformed. Thanks alot for that I'm must get on I have some work to do :)
Aw, thank you! So happy you enjoyed the video!
Amazing. This tells me that coconut meat is primarily fat. Very good fat. Thank you Petra. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year :)
Sounds yummy!!! Now…. HOW do I use it and I what recipes?
Thank you! I have a few suggestions on my blog, so I am just going to copy and paste them here:
"Honestly, coconut butter - just like any nut butter - is amazing straight out of the jar. I frequently eat it with just a spoon and have to force myself not to eat the entire jar. You can also blend it into smoothies, stir it into oatmeal, drizzle it over pancakes, use it as a dip for fruit, stuff it into dates, or use it in desserts, such as coconut macaroons or fudge." (the coconut macaroons - vanilla and chocolate as well as the coconut fudge recipes are on my blog).
Thank you so much! I’ve had a bunch of coconut flakes 😊sitting around for a while I’m going to make this!
Hope you enjoy it :)
Same 😅
I hope my blender has enough power to make me some delicious coconut butter 🤣
@@NutritionRefined so what can i do with the coconut butter?
@@judysbakeryandtestkitchen1654 eat it, or use it for your hair
@@jozeph1642 Hi, how are used coconut flakes for my hair?
Hi there!! Great video thanks for sharing. I don't have a vitamix but my blender is 1000w. Is that high speed enough? 🤔
A high speed blander typically is around 1500 and higher depending on brand. Sometimes resale shops have old still working ones. eBay is also a option to finding refurbished or just someone letting go of their old one because they up graded or so.
Best of health to you.
Hi Petra! I follow you when I first saw your nutella; I’ve made it and it’s amazing! Just a minor doubt regarding blending (I have a Vitamix as well). You gradually increase the speed up to 10, and afterwards you turn on the maximum switch? If yes, for how long? I’m trying to improve blending techinique for butters, vegan caramel (your recipe is tge first one I’ve seen, fantastic!), etc. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
I eat a primarily meat based diet. And I try to add in as much non-animal based nutrition as I can. This recipe is definitely a YES for me.
Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you for the feedback :)
You'll likely shorten your life with this kind of diet, since countless studies show that we are already eating more than the healthy amount of meat. You'll also have a much higher enviromental footprint then normal people and you're carbon footprint will be very high. You'll also use much more land in a world with a biodiversity crisis, disappearing wildlife and mass extinction of species.
I wonder if you can add candy maker's butter flavoring to this and a little salt to use as a butter replacement?
You won’t know till you try. Good idea.
I'd be interested in hearing if this works and how you would use it. Coconut butter is pretty solid at room temp, so it wouldn't spread easily unless you warmed it. (I've put coconut butter on hot pancakes and it's amazing!) And if you tried to, say, pan fry something with it, I would think it'd burn from the fiber in it. (Guessing here.) But I'd love to hear if it works in baking!
What is the shelf life and does it need to be refrigerated?
Thanks for sharing. Do you add any water to the coconut for it to be blended?
No. You don't want to add any water. You do need a high-speed blender (or a powerful food processor) for this recipe, though.
It’s not becoming a butter 🙈 what am I doing wrong
When/how would I use or store this product?
BTW- my husband and I love your content
I ate it raw before😂 I think I made fat bombs with it
Aw, thank you so much! All the instructions are on my blog, so I am going to just copy and paste it here:
Storing at room temperature: transfer the coconut butter into an airtight container and store it at room temperature for 1 month. Unlike nut butters, coconut butter doesn't turn rancid.
Refrigerating: transfer the coconut butter into an airtight container and refrigerate it for up to 3 months.
Freezing: transfer the coconut butter into an airtight container and freeze it for up to 6 months.
Honestly, coconut butter - just like any nut butter - is amazing straight out of the jar. I frequently eat it with just a spoon and have to force myself not to eat the entire jar. You can also blend it into smoothies, stir it into oatmeal, drizzle it over pancakes, use it as a dip for fruit, stuff it into dates, or use it in desserts, such as coconut macaroons or fudge (both recipes are on my blog, if you're interested).
@@NutritionRefinedThanks for sharing. Do you add any liquid to the coconut?
Healthier than coconut oil for sure
Yep! Coconut butter is whole foods, so not really a substitute for coconut oil, but so good! ;)
What can you do with coconut butter?
I'd add it to my veggie wrap or to a fruit smoothie. But it would be nice if she mentioned all the things that it's used for! Moisturizing lotion perhaps? I'm about to Google it anyway! Just figured I'd chime in on this comment!
A great question. I have written about this on my blog, so I am just going to copy and paste it here:

(both those recipes are on my blog). Hope it helps :)
What kind of blender do you use? My coconut stayed the same, just dry flakes and no oil or anything else was forming it just got grounded finer...
I use the Vitamix (this is the blender I used in the video: nutritionrefined.com/vitamix-e310)
Did you use a high-speed blender or just a standard blender? And does your blender come with a tamper?
How long will this keep in a refrigerator in a clean jar?
Honestly, I have never had coconut butter go bad in the refrigerator (it will keep for several months for sure!)
Does it get thicker? tyfs
Yes, it does. It thickens once you refrigerate it.
@@NutritionRefined WAHOO! Thx for quick response. Love your channel and your soft voice ❤
What can we use the coconut butter on/with/in?

Vitamix blender you’re using??
Yes, I am using a Vitamix. The model in the video is E310.
Hi, I added some grounded sugar but then the mixture got really thick. It was not anymore silky. Any explanations?
Did you add the powdered sugar after the coconut has already broken down into coconut butter? Was it just the powdered sugar you added or anything else?
Which grinder you have used
I used a Vitamix blender.
So we would need an expensive high powered blender?
yes! pray for GESARA to be revealed everything's free amen!
I am not sure, to be honest. You definitely need a blender with a tamper though (or a food processor).
No, you don't need an expensive blender.
I have a small bullet blender I paid about €30 it's high speed (27000 rpm)
I have another bigger one I paid €130 also high speed (32000 rpm)
A high speed blender doesn't have to be expensive. The small one I have I use many times a week, I think I've had it for about seven years
I actually have no idea how you managed to do this in 1 min Petra. Every other video i watched about this said it will take a while, and you will have to stop the machine in between to give it a bit of rest. I used my French-made Magimix blender and did not get anywhere near the end result after 1 hour of running my machine on and off. I only managed to get it to a wet sand texture. I make nut butter with my Magimix every 2 weeks or so, and that takes mere couple of mins, but not this 😅 In the end I decided this is not going to be worth my time and effort, and risk breaking my machine. I kept the sandy textured desiccated coconut to make cookies instead.
I have no experience with Magimix, but Vitamix is awesome for this! I have tried making coconut butter in a food processor, but that takes a while. Using the blender is super fast :)
how long will it last?
hewwo i wuv you
