Why Do I always watch install videos for parts I don't have yet? I want!!!
jsego01106 or for my case a car you don't have yet haha.
That plastic bag trick was the coolest part of the install 😆
Glad I found this video! Installing mine today or tomorrow on my 05 LGT. Pretty pumped! A local shop suggested the Grimm Speed over a few other brand, and I'm not one to argue with a pro :D
GimmSpeed- First off great product. I finally had the chance to install mine on my 05 LGT and the final result is outstanding. Only issue I had was that in your instructions you don't list the step where you have to remove ( in an LGT anyway) the metal bracket that is in the spot where the included front stabilizer and bracket bolt to the engine. No idea what this bracket was for other than it had a small sensor clip on it that I had to remove and zip tie out of the way. I'm sure even the less mechanically inclined could figure it out but just wanted to mention it.
You're absolutely correct! We're working on a version of this video that is specific to LGT fitment. We don't have one as a shop car anymore, so access is just a bit more difficult. Glad you got it installed with no problem!
GrimmSpeed more then welcome to install one on mine 😜
4 push pins also hold the back of the splitter too.
Thanks for this helpful video and making an awesome product!
Great stuff guys !
+09BertoSS Thank you!
Looks great but doesn't seem to be any room to run a strut tower bar??
I have never wished that I had $1,000 at my disposal more than right now. This intercooler looks absolutely stunning! Not that I would expect anything less from GrimmSpeed, mind you. I'll have to put this on my list of things to install once the car is paid off.
Now for the newbie question. I have been around Subarus for years, but I am somewhat new to the whole turbo boxer scene. I do know that there are certain things you can't do to these engines without remapping the ECU. Is an intercooler swap one of these things?
Thanks for the kind words! You intercooler is one of those things that can be swapped without tuning changes! If you're highly modified and running speed density, things change a bit, but for 99% of enthusiasts out there, you're perfectly safe just swapping it over. Here's the catch, though. Since it's more effective than the factory intercooler, you'll gain a nice 'safety net' on your current tune, but a new tune will allow the tuner to take advantage of the increased cooling to make you more power. The choice is yours! A lot of people will swap them on and then wait until their next 'must tune' mod before hitting the dyno. Cheers!
GrimmSpeed
Awesome, thanks for the tips! You guys are the best. :-)
FYI, thanks for supporting the 48hrs of Tristate again this year. I never may have found out about GrimmSpeed if it weren't for that and I buy from you guys whenever possible.
This is the best car porno I've seen yet!
Love mine.
Does this require a tune?
Yes
I hear differnt i hear no but to see any diff i hear hes
Don't think I've ever needed a 13mm socket for anything on a Subaru before.
So what you're saying is that you can't wait to let your 13mm socket stretch it's legs? :)
GrimmSpeed
But it's still new and shiny and I don't want to get it dirty.
I have always needed a 13mm on any subaru I have worked on over the years
Can't decide if I should go with GS or Processwest, both are top notch, decisions.. decisions..
I’m curious what did you end up choosing? Thanks!
@@TheRandomname951
I went with the GrimmSpeed TMIC
can't go wrong with either
@@dancisneros8169 how was it on your wrx
Dang. Love Grimspeed products, but I don't think this will work with my AEM strut tower brace on my 2011 GR.
is the music Gramatik? sounds like Eric Krasno on the guitar
The Floozies. i love that grimmspeed uses their music. They're my favorite live show of all time, this song is called "Stuntin"
You mentioned a tune would take advantage of the increased cooling capacity but what If I was switching from a verticooler to this? They are both much bigger than the stock tmic. I would think that a tune is even more not required right since I was already tuned to the verticooler?
Winson Lai I'd say that you're probably correct. Close enough, at least, that it wouldn't warrant a fresh tune. Personally, I think it's a great decision, but do you mind if I ask why you're switching from the Verticooler to the GrimmSpeed TMIC?
Yeah why are you switching?
Well it fit if using a front Strut tower bar?
Hey I just need the hardware and coupler’s for the intercooler. Can you send me the link for it?
wouldnt happen to make a top mount kit for the 2002 legacy Be5 twin turbo? love the way this one looks but sadly wont fit my car.
Hi, I've got an Impreza III 2011 2.0D. Is it possible mount this intercooler on my car?
No
On the legacy can the original splitter discarded complete? I ask as I am coming from process west TMIC and I had to modify the stock splitter.
Yes! The GrimmSpeed Legacy GT splitter will completely replace the factory splitter. It bolts directly to the hood using the OEM hardware. Hope that helps.
Is this upgrade carb legal in California?
Hey so i know you need a tune for this but how bad would it be running stage 2 with this without a tune? Nothing horrrible right. Maybe no peak boost?
I need the o ring don’t know where to get it
Do you have a kit for the 09 forester XT?
Our 08-14 Top mount will fit. The only problem will be mounting the intercooler splitter.
Would this fit on a 2006 Rhd Subaru Legacy?
I have this top mount, and grim up and downpipe. Curious which stock frame turbo to go with after ai build motor so I may keep using the tmic
What are the correct torque specs on the bolts on to the turbo pipe and other supporting brackets?
would this top mount intercooler work with the killer b motorsport extreme flow hard turbo inlet?
Hard to say as we don't fit test our parts with many other company's parts. I would say it should because both feature 3" inch inlets and are connected with a silicone coupler.
@@GrimmSpeed Okay I assumed so, Ill be testing it out soon here so hopefully all goes well.
Does this tmic require a tune or can i just install it and drive on
For best performance results we do recommend getting the car tuned after install. But it is not absolutely necessary.
@@GrimmSpeed thank you
Who sells legit parts from you guys? I am highly satisfied with how this intercooler compares to the stock one and the quality of the product itself.

I'm small brain. This the impreza wrx right?
Whys this dude at home depot though? xD
how many Hp it can hold?? if i go 500hp on my 13 wrx???
thank you
Shouldn't this also fit on a 2009-2013 SH Forester XT? How's fitment with a strut brace?
The Intercooler will bolt up, but we don't offer a hood shroud for it at the moment.
does it clear strut tower braces?
whats the power limit on these? building my 07 lgt and looking to be around the 500whp mark. Does anyone know?
is a tune needed afterwards?
A tune is not required but would be needed to take full advantage of the intercooler.
Jake is correct! No tune required, but to take advantage of the increased cooling capacity, a fresh tune never hurts!
I Was about to ask the same Question.
I just ordered this for my car. do I have to get a tune? I don't have any crazy mods but my stock on broke so I figured go with the best.
+Colin Fecteau No tune required, although with the additional cooling capacity, a tuner would be able to safely tune a big more aggressively in order to produce additional power. In either case, you should notice that the loss of power that you previously experienced due to heat soak is gone entirely!
Looking to upgrade to Cobb 20g Turbo would this intercooler upgrade be strong enough to run it??
Absolutely! plenty of our TMIC' on stock location aftermarket turbos are running 450+WHP
Its almost as if they designed the hood scoop size to receive upgrades.. Hmmmmm XD
Can I install one of these on a non turbo 07 Subaru Impreza? Figure I didn't buy a WRX but I can turn it into one.
If the car is non turbo, an intercooler really wouldn't do much good.
That was a struggle
Getting the Intercooler back in place can be tricky. You must have patience to complete this job. 😂
Will this fit a bL5 2003 subaru legacy b4
Most likely not. This version is designed to fit 05-09 Legacy GT only.
If I have a bov is it ok
As long as it's an OE-style flange, you'll be able to mount it right to our TMIC
Will this fit a JDM ej205?
Ej 20 and 25 are diff
