I'm going to buy goldeneye on vhs then record goldeneye on Nintendo 64 on it then I'll take it to a different thrift shop and someone else would get fooled.
Thanks man, this really helped me and a couple friends accomplish a task that we had a real time crunch on. Instead of cabin fever we recorded over cruel intentions, a 1999 flop starring Reese Witherspoon and the oft forgotten Ryan Filipe. It's raunchy and high stakes fever love film. Duff says hi.
You don't have to do all that shit with the paper. Just stick tape over the hole. Duct tape if you really wanna make sure it doesn't fall off. And you can get a pack of blank VHS tapes on eBay for like, $10. Each time you record over the tape, the quality will degrade.
I discovered this trick when i was a kid, i simply compared blank vhs tapes to pre recorded tapes, i noticed when i snapped out the little flap as designed the blank vhs became non re-writable, as you can imagine our video collection started to shrink as i would record tv shows over them lol
I don't think this will be an issue for me, my anut gave my dad and mom about 200 hundered blank vhs tapes in 1995, they're maxwell and memorex so they have lasted a long-ass time. The "professionally done" tapes always lasted the longest.
I already knew about this when VHS was still in modern use in 2006. All I did was put a piece of paper in my mouth to get it wet, and then all I had to do was smash the wet paper inside that square hole. I had a lot of movies that people gave me that sucked, so I just recorded over them with TV shows I liked at the time. Whenever a tape got worn out, I just threw it in the trash and grabbed another movie to record over, I did it all the time. xD
Are you telling me that a pre-recorded VHS tape with a copyrighted material on it is cheaper than a blank VHS tape with nothing on it? I assumed that movie tapes were higher in price because of first of all the quality (it's 1st gen tape, straight from factory), and of course because the material is copyrighted (so you basically purchase a licence to watch it, which supports the creator, or at least should). A full movie for 25 cents? That's cheap as hell :D
Scott Poplin Yes Old VHS Movies should be Recorded over, All you have to do is go to the Goodwill, Random Thrift Stores or Find it online on eBay and Amazon :D
So I'm trying to record over old VHS tapes and I play it back on but it goes from static to what I recorded then I put it in a vcr and it does play only(stays on blue screen) when I fast forward it does the static and then a little piece of what I recorded comes up
Are VHS Hi-Fi tapes with pre-recorded movies good quality? I am looking for some good VHS without spending money. I have some Warner Home Video VHS Hi-Fi and I wonder if it has good quality to record on?
+Reece Bower (RevvedRidersMedia) clean the vcr or use a VHS that hasn't been used a lot(ish). the tapes that are use frequently are the ones that have deteriorated the most.
Can you please I had any problems I'll explain it. You don't want to do the top of the tape You want to go to the bottom of the tape at that part of the notch. That's a thing that I had problems with. For example if you want to record on a tape say toy story you would want to go underneath the little notch on it. For other tapes I'll just say where the barcode / title / opposite side that you put it in is where you put the tape. Also you don't need to use tape and all the things that he did I just used some thick Scotch tape. Bye.
Do you know how to do the same thing to an audio cassette tape? I'm not sure which hole to put the paper in. If you do, it would be nice if you'd make a video.
Sounds like you have type 2 or 4 cassette. OF COURSE I'm too late to the party but if you are alive then you have to mask the closest to the left side hole only. Same on the other side. Covering other holes can result the deck into thinking that this is different tape.

Dude, that... would be awesome!!

Thanks man, I just pre-recorded 3 EAS screens, and a disclaimer at the end of the VHS tape.

I used to do this a kid, I stuffed a wad of paper in there and went for it, mom got mad I recorded over her favorite movie lol
Use opaque tape to block light so that you can re-record over a pre-recorded VHS tape.
I just used a single piece of tape to cover it when I was a kid :')
This is great!! Now i can finally record over those old VHS tapes!!

I remember being very frustrated as a child because I couldn't record over my old Dora the Explorer tapes
good tips!
Thank you very much! it worked!
Back in 1986 when I was a wee lit'l kid I would just chew a small piece of paper into a wad then put the spit wad in the hole!
It works for me, but the footage turns black and white when its done recording. Help!!!
creedos that’s because after you tapped over the footage it damages the tape in a fast rate
awesome! ill use this to record shows!
When did manufactures stop making blank vhs tapes?
Pulp fiction is a great movie!

Nice watch, not taking about the 4 minutes that could be 20 seconds
Record over 'Cabin Fever', no one needs to see that trainwreck.
Cabin fever sucked
