    Thanks for showing how to clean and lubricate this gun. The tip with the little container filled with BoreTec Carbon remover is very useful!
    Please be careful, when cleaning the piston. If you grab this tightly and are rotating this with your fingers, you easily can cut your fingertips at the extremely sharp edges even through thin rubber gloves. This happenend twice to me. Now I cover my fingers with a little cloth.
    I love this gun and shot several 1000 rounds with it.

    Great video. Can you please do one on how the trigger and upside down hammer work? I can't figure out why the lower receiver protrudes so far back behind the grip. I think I can see some mechanism there, but I can't tell what that is, how that interfaces with the slide, or how the trigger trips the hammer. Thank you

    Great vid! New owner myself so this was very helpful. What do you think the reasons is that the gas piston rod can’t be smooth like the recoil rod? My best guess is it helps retaining (or releasing?) the right amount of gas at the right time? Just curious and trying to understand the pistol better.
    Also, do you have a smart and smooth way of reinstalling the recoil spring on the rod again? That’s the only part of the gun that I have to fight with.

    Ca you take out the barrel???

    • @LegalAlien9mm
      @LegalAlien9mm  3 роки тому

      Yes, that can be done. Two pins need to be tapped out along with some screws. It isn't exactly "easy", but without parts available to replace pins or springs, I am not attempting it. One of the pins is for the trigger also.

      @@LegalAlien9mm Thank you so much for your reply!!
      I'm guessing its the 2 pins just above the trigger guard and then the 2 screws in the front where you can screw on the compensator and so on.
      You its clearly not meant to just do and I don't even know it Laugo sells replacement barrels.
      So keep good care of the barrel so that it lasts longer.

    • @LegalAlien9mm
      @LegalAlien9mm  3 роки тому

      Right.. the two pins, two screws in the front and one in the bottom of the trigger guard that goes up into the barrel. The grip module can be removed also, so that screw in the trigger guard helps brace the grip. The barrel itself is a bull barrel and is rated for over tens of thousands of rounds. One user already has 50,000 rds through one and the barrel only lost a small amount of accuracy. Wasn't enough to replace.

      @@LegalAlien9mm If you use dry lube spray over the bullets. Glass the barrel
      Or wax or lubricate the bullets the barrel will pretty much last for ever.
      Its more that the do/did produce a 6inch version instead of just the 4.8 and it would have been so nice to just get a longer barrel.
      Take good care of it and thanks for all the fast replays!!! = )

      I wouldn't goop it in there.. just in case it collects debris..I personally haven't put lube in the trigger mechanism located in the frame.. the most I would put would be 1 small drop. How are you liking your Alien Pistol? Any issues with it thus far? Would you recommend it for 3 gun and USPSA competition over a 2011 platform?

    • @LegalAlien9mm
      @LegalAlien9mm  4 роки тому

      So far I am liking it alot, it shoots great. Still need to do some testing to see how long I can go without cleaning it before it malfunctions. I never shot the 2011 platform to be honest, but I do plan on using it in USPSA. Compared to my CZ Custom SP01 it does have less muzzle flip and does feel like driving it faster will have less consequence. I still need more time to do more testing, and I hope to do a range test between my CZ and Alien to try and see whether it does actually perform better.

    • @setheverhart3427
      @setheverhart3427 3 роки тому

      its not USPSA legal for production since it isn't on the approved list. CO is out due to non- reciprocating optic. You could shoot it in Open. I have 2 Atlas 2011 and it shoots faster and flatter but with much more felt recoil into the hand because it recoils straight back. I prefer the 2011 platform and its much more flexible capabilities. I have also run into reliability issues with some hand loads due to OAL and fps, not PF. I would buy it all over again though because of the innovation.

    • @LegalAlien9mm
      @LegalAlien9mm  3 роки тому

      @@setheverhart3427 Yes I am aware it has not been added to the production list, as for carry optics, the rules do not state the optic has to reciprocate. The Alien completely is outside side the box in how the rules are defined currently. Where the optic mounts to the Alien is a functional part of the pistol as it houses part of the trigger and captures the slide, and is not a "frame mount" as state in the rule. It will be interesting to see how it plays out, but it being IPSC prod legal should lead way to it also being USPSA Prod legal. As of right now, I am don't think it has been submitted for evaluation to USPSA for it to be approved for Prod or CO. Be nice to know though as the season is approaching.

    Nice video, I`ve got one recently ;) I want to ask if you tried to shoot with reladed ammo? I've tried today with 200 reloaded ammo and got 5 jams, maybe it's a new weapon that needs more rides, or it's so sensitive with that kind of ammo?

    • @LegalAlien9mm
      @LegalAlien9mm  2 роки тому +1

      It is sensitive to overall length of the bullet and amount of powder. Out of the box, it is "tuned" for a factory load.

      Nice.. I know a guy who does, and there is a certain parameter range you have to stay within, and also flat nose bullets will have a tendency to not feed properly. It is possible, but there are limitations to what you have to work with.

      Alien does get dirty very quickly.. the one thing that takes time is cleaning the gas port and piston, everything else wipes up pretty easily. Alien is also very easy to break down, and doesn't really take much longer than cleaning a 1911 really.

    New sub and thanks for posting the only practical Alien videos. I am buying one tomorrow at my local FFL that has one in stock. I plan on shooting only FMJ. Any wear on the pistol? It’s been reliable?

    • @LegalAlien9mm
      @LegalAlien9mm  3 роки тому +1

      So wear will appear internally on the frame. If you use factory ammo, you shouldn't have any issues. Flat nose 147s are a bit iffy when you load the mag fully. They could get stuck on the ramp, but when you have a mag fully loaded. Round nose 115/124/147 are no issue as factory loads. If you reload, try to use round nose bullets. They have to be a certain length to work reliably.
      Once again, I have only fired factory ammo and have had ZERO issues after 700rds (115/124). I don't really use 147s but they could not be as reliable with fully loaded mags.

    Is maybe easier to soak the piston in the Carbon remover and then brush it clean with a bronze brush? Maybe faster than with the AR carbon scraper.

      @LegalAlien9mm  3 роки тому +1

      I didn't mention in the video, but I did also use a bronze brush on the piston after soaking. The carbon, especially at the bottom, really bakes on, and I found the best results with using the scraping tool for those ridges on the rings. I will also attempt this with an ultrasonic cleaner and see how that turns out with using the Boretech carbon remover. Thanks for the comment!
