I got me a FLG5 with the 1.4mm tip from spraygunsdirect on your recommendation and I absolutely love it. It lays clear down like glass. I have used it for everything from primer, base, and clear. It was only $160us and arrived to New Mexico from the U.K. In three days.
I had the same results off his recommendation. I originally bought the starting line guns before he did his review on them, now that i have the FLG5 I'm almost ready to toss them in the trash, they consistently have spraying problems.
It’s a beast I’ve gone base clear, single stage, epoxy, 2k primer, 2k just wanna reduce accordingly, all 1.4, I do have a 2.0 air gunsa to answer above question
Thanks to these videos I just ordered my FLG5 in 1.3 with a 1.4 cap and 1.8 cap and needle ! I hope I can do the gun justice as I'm just getting into paint but Im a seasoned auto tech.
Many thanks for all your videos and advice i have coverted my FLG5 to 1.8 for primer and love it and have now just ordered a Pro Lite T110 for clear coat from Spray Guns Direct and mentioned your channel to credit the order. I am retired and work on car restorations and Motorbikes and cant wait to see the finish i get. A fan in the UK.
Bought a package of stuff from SprayGunsDirect on your recommendations and reviews. Went with an FLG5 1.4, an FLG5 1.8, the 2.0 nozzle and needle kit, and a pair of ANI regulators. Delivered in 2 days from UK to the US. Going to employ them for the first time tonight!
These guns are absolutely great man. Great all rounder gun and really durable to, even for the that good price. I had one quite a few years and its still going strong. Thanks for the video gunny
Thank you mate, just bought one and used today with filler primer, I've only ever done minor small repairs before with rattle cans but invested in several Devilbiss guns to do bigger paint jobs. Delighted!
Alan's living my dream. I think the flg5 is the best gun on the market all things considered, and it's likely to win that top 10 review barring any negligence cleaning it out between now and then, which in and of itself seems highly unlikely. Great to see this gun make its way back into your vids gunny. Next up we need some flg5 clear coat vids on the exterior panels of some shitbox Hyundai when you get that 1.4;)
David Westernall the gpi is definitely a better overall build quality. It's the original gti pro. It's also double the price. For a workhorse gun.. Flg5 all day every day imo. It pays for itself in one spot repair easy.
i just purchased this gun with the 1.4mm setup for $192 and a devilbiss HAV-501-B gun reg $82 from sprayguns direct on gunnys recommendation. i asked if the 1.8mm cap and needle could be purchased separately. they got back to me straight away and said they could add it to my order for $55.80 so i purchased them also. (australian dollars in dec 2019) cant wait to paint some shit
Thank you...i wanted a spray gun but was unsure which one to get but thanks to your video and advice i got the gun i needed. Didnt have to fork out 300 pound to get a hvlp which i was going to get. Keep up the good work. Your video are awesome.
Gunman, I just purchased a FGL 5 under your recommended. I’m dead to paint some shit with it. My question to you is that I’m got the gun with 1.4 tip. I’m not A professional painter. Just a novelist that likes to paint shit. Can I spray basecoat clearcoat with the 1.4 or do you recommend the 1.3 tip for basecoat. I got the gun through spray direct it’s a good website thank you for the recommendation.
I would prefer that all guns have be two part air makes it much easier to clean in my point of view I find that over time material builds up around the gap between the air horn and the round threaded ring just my opinion
Nice gun but no parts if it goes wrong. Mine needed a new Spreader valve. Contacted Devilbiss who confirmed no part available. Budget gun they said so basically throw away if it goes wrong. Very disappointed.
I actually just sold my old Gti 1.8 that I used for primer for £150 and bought one of these and I think it's a much better gun technology has changed so much since the original Gti was released that the cheaper Flg in my opinion is now a much better gun because it has new technology vs the older gti so I agree 100% with your recommendation 🖒
Thinking of buying this gun, can it be used for primer filler, primer and base and which cap dimensions are for each layer? Thanks for the vids, great content 👍
Hey Gunman, wondering if you could shed some slight? Would the FLG-5 be suitable for acrylic paint jobs? Have read in places that it can be used with the right nozzle tip, others have said no. Is it possible to use acrylics with the FLG and if yes, what size tips would likely be best? Cheers
G'day Kevin here. Just to change the topic. Could you please do a video on showing the home painter around the best masks to buy. There's so many on the marked. I'm sure some good some useless.
Kevin Hamling that's another possible top 5 video for future but for now I do have 2 reviews on respirators, one Moldex half mask review which I use daily and recommend and another review on the Sundstrom SR-200 air fed and again I use daily and highly recommend for career painters.
oh yeah i love my sgk 1.4mm i use it for single stage instant gloss but am going to buy a 2mm or 1.8mm for primer. Good luck Alan and keep em comin gunny. Awsome stuff
After watching you paint and seeing all these reviews I’m buying one. Jim from New Mexico. Update: Got the gun a few days ago, it’s so much better than my DeVilbiss Starting line guns. They work just fine but the FLG5 lays down a nicer finish.
Good morning Gunny. Thanks for the evaluation. Is this gun related to the flg here in the states? We have four of the flg model guns here. They really work great for primer and sealer 1.8 nozzle and 1.4. Thanks for the video and take care.
hey gunny. I have the flg5 based on your recomendations. the air seal has gone in it. two little plastic washers. however they are shaped. on the devilbiss parts diagram it does not show which way round they sit. have you dealt with these at all. your advice would be appreciated as the seals are unavailable alone. unfortunately devilbiss make you but a whole kit at a cost of £28. Hi Gunny, just collecting kit at the min and would like to know if there’s a preferred kind of hose to feed the air mask from the 3 stage filters? Cheers. Keep the vids flowing like perfect clear 😉
Being new in spraying world it’s better to get FLG5 with 1.4 tip for both Base and clear or 1.8 ? I’m asking because when I went to the shop, a nice guy told me that 1.4 tip won’t be good for a clear coat as it’s much thicker than Base. I spoken to guy who is working with guns day to day basis and he told me that the best tip for both (Base+clear) if I don’t want to but 2 guns will be 1.4. I’m very confused. Appreciate in advance for your help :)
Hi gunman been following your channel got a question for you,ive brought a devilbiss FLG 5 it stops spraying fluid taking a guess its airlocking to fix it im opening the plug ontop of the lid, then its spraying fine, your responce be much apprecisted mate. Cheers shane
Kind of stuck at the moment. I am just getting into painting and looking for a decent gun, around 200 USD, that can do it all, primer, base and clear coat. I was looking at the Devilbiss FLG4. Then I started to wonder if I shouldn't try to get a higher end model (Iwata, Sata, Devilbiss, etc..) used, for the same price. I realize the gun isn't going to make my paint jobs perfect first time, but I certainly don't want the gun to be causing me problems. Thoughts?
Go for the FLG5 and get 2X fluid tips a 1.4 for colour and clear and a 1.8 for primer. SprayGunsdirect.co.uk have them in stock again and ship very fast to USA, let them know I sent you.
Gunman what do you like better the FLG or PRI pro lite I am military painter and mainly we use carc paint it’s pretty thick stuff probably thicker then primer, trying to find the best primer gun
Im installing a widebody and a new bumper and decided to use the money on paint parts rather than paying the body shop. i bought this gun because of a good review and was waiting for it to get delivered. I need the PP2 2.0 adapter and could not find the correct part number for it. 3M site listed bunch of FLG XXX-XX but this particular model is not listed. @Gunman any idea what 3M PPS adapter this use? Looks like bunch of FLG model uses S15 but there are others that uses S17/18.
Hey guys, i am fairly new to painting... im thinking of buying a suction fed flg5 gun (only because im paintin lifeboats for oil industry) more capacity needed but i dont like the pressure pot guns. It aint a merc im painted so quality isnt paramount but i would like a goodish finish. What tip size would you guys use for single stage and at what pressure? These vids are ace.
Hi Gunman great Vid's , very helpful for a mug like me , I'm looking at this gun for old school arcylic as i do up old cars and like to keep the look original , I use PPG Dulon looking for a good budget gun would this gun be suitable ,,,, keep up the Vids cheers
B H. I have only ever used Raptor liner but I love it, I used the tintable version for the first time a few weeks ago and it worked really well, I've got footage and I'll have to put a vid of it together when I get the time.
B H. I've actually got a full review on Raptor already but just black, go look through my vids or search raptor liner review Gunman, I put it through its paces and even used hammers to see how it holds up, a 4lt kit should do most ute trays.
The Gunman cheers, I'm actually looking to do tge complete under body of a sedan before it goes in for paint. It's 100% stripped down so want to get it right
hello gunman,,sorry if this out of subject..but have u heard or try the DURR ECO 119 AIR SPRAY GUN?..it claims to save more material..but how much?..is it better than gti pro lite? or just the same..im kind of curios about it..
Thanks for all your help. Can you explain the difference between the gpi. Gti pro lite and the flg5. I know the air caps are varied on the gti pro but I'm unclear on how these 3 guns are different or for a specific purpose. Thanks man
Hi gunman watched all ur clips. Looking at buying a spray gun for a dyi job. Will the devilbiss flg5 be good for 2k epoxy under coat base and clear. Basically will this gun do the lot or i need a separate gun.
It will do the lot, the only thing is you'd really want 2 tips and needles, the 1.4 would be great for base, clear and thin primer but when using a high build primer you really want more material on, due to it being thicker your be best of using a 1.8, you can get the gun in 1.4 and get a separate needle and tip in 1.8 send Chris from spraygunsdirect.co.uk an email telling him I sent you and hell look after you.
So based on your replies to my comments, my mind is pretty made up on an offer on eBay for a USD 250 set of 2 FLG5 guns, one in 1.8 for 2k epoxy primer and the other 1.4mm for 2k urethane topcoat and 2k urethane clear topcoat. I will get #15 3M PPS adapter and a PPS starter kit. Which leads me yet to another question. Should I consider the 3M Accuspray or stick with the pair of FLG5? I can’t find any review you’ve done on the Accuspray. Thanks!
Please avoid the Accuspray. And I was just thinking that the 1.4 FLG5 would probably be all you need, in automotive industry we like 1.8 for primers because we need to fill repairs to block them flat but if you're using the Epoxy primer as an adhesion promoter and not blocking then you want it on nice and thin and 1.4 would be better. I get all my guns from SprayGunsDirect.co.uk and I know they ship to USA very quickly.
Hi Gunman, I’m Alexis your #1 fan from Cuba, thanks for sharing your knowledge , you are my second school ; I’m in Argentina, I wanna buy the FLG5 but they don’t have it under this name instead they sell the SKG 600 BV I think they come from Brazil, I’like to know if it is the same gun, also they have the line Advance HD that looks like a Tekna or GTI and another one call POP 700, I’ll appreciate if you give me your opinion about this guns, again thanks, bless & respect
I got a used gun i want to order parts of this gun but not able to search catalogue and part number Please tell me what is the exact model number of this gun
i got a binks m1-g hvlp and it says clear on the side of it also, i dont know what size tip it has cause it dont have it on it, just says 96g and 43 psi on the nozzle cap do you know what kind of paint it can use. thanks
Question - If I buy the 1.4mm gun I'll also get a different tip for primer. Would you recommend the 1.8 or 2.0 tip in the gravity gun for primer? Thanks.
David Westernall i'm south of Perth mate and work for myself doing resto work but it's a bit slow. Wish i was in melbourne but would take allmost anything at the moment even 3rd or 4th year apprentice work doin putty ups etc. Sick of doin quotes for nuthing. Any body got work going out there?
gunman, as always good videos. a suggestion you could activate the sub-titles to Spanish I have recommended your channel to several friends but they do not speak English.
I see this was specified on Paintguns Direct.. 3M PPS adapter select No.3 (16033) but wasn't clear whether this is the standard PPS or PPS 2.0 variety.. I believe there is a difference.
For those interested I found the correct 3m PPS 2.0 adapter for this gun. The correct adapter is the 26046 #S15... This is the 3/8 Male 19 BSP thread specs. Thank you Mr. Gunman for your referral and review on this gun.
The Gunman thank u so much..I'm been saving for gti pro lite.but this will do for now,it will be the 1st gun i ever own for my self after 10years in this trade.until i gain profits back to buy gti pro lite someday.. have a blessed day gunman.
I got me a FLG5 with the 1.4mm tip from spraygunsdirect on your recommendation and I absolutely love it. It lays clear down like glass. I have used it for everything from primer, base, and clear. It was only $160us and arrived to New Mexico from the U.K. In three days.
Im glad to hear this, I am going to get the SGK with a 1.4 as well :)
I had the same results off his recommendation. I originally bought the starting line guns before he did his review on them, now that i have the FLG5 I'm almost ready to toss them in the trash, they consistently have spraying problems.
Can you spray kandy with this gun?
It’s a beast I’ve gone base clear, single stage, epoxy, 2k primer, 2k just wanna reduce accordingly, all 1.4, I do have a 2.0 air gunsa to answer above question
Thanks to these videos I just ordered my FLG5 in 1.3 with a 1.4 cap and 1.8 cap and needle ! I hope I can do the gun justice as I'm just getting into paint but Im a seasoned auto tech.
Congrats Alan, your going to be a great painter in no time !!! Thanks Gunman !
Mate, I have no words for the way that clear coat went on. That job came out smashing. Absolutely awesome as always.

Another informative video as always. Thanks Gunny

I have flg-5, did my beetle last summer, first time painting, love that gun,
I would prefer that all guns have be two part air makes it much easier to clean in my point of view I find that over time material builds up around the gap between the air horn and the round threaded ring just my opinion
We use these and they are great, even for lacquer, a real all rounder gun at a great price. We have the 1.4
Hi Gunny, I did some research. 3M adapter is #4, DeKups is DPC-80. For the others wondering. Thanks!
Think your research is wrong. 3m is #3 adapter, not the #4. Different sites say so. The FLG6 has the #4 adapter.
AJ in the shop👍I recognized that Kentucky water fall straight away. Good for him.
Yup. Got two FLG-5’s amongst others. Bought it on your recommend years ago. Mega gun. Nice one..
Nice gun but no parts if it goes wrong. Mine needed a new Spreader valve. Contacted Devilbiss who confirmed no part available. Budget gun they said so basically throw away if it goes wrong. Very disappointed.

Only thing it had a metal cup which made it heavy but I change the cup to a sata cup and it became lighter
Always love your vids keep it up.

Awesome thanks
Have one of these..bought it because of the sgk 600...awesome gun..the cap and needle little bit smal..5/10 cap.
Hey gunman. I’ve got the SGK 1.4 and the 2.0 off a reputable supplier( Jefferson’s paint supplies) And the 2.0 is exactly the same as Alan’s.
Gunny ,big hi five from Louis in Puerto Rico , have you tried the ANI F-160 1.3 if you have like to know your oppinion about it .
Good morning Gunny. Thanks for the evaluation. Is this gun related to the flg here in the states? We have four of the flg model guns here. They really work great for primer and sealer 1.8 nozzle and 1.4. Thanks for the video and take care.
I have flg5 devilbiss spray gun air cap 1.4 leaking air from the air cap is the gun scrap
I bet the seals are only pennies.
I don't want to have to buy again by making The mistake of inserting them the wrong way round.

You definitely don't want 1.8 for colour or clear, 1.8 for primer only. 1.4 is ideal for clear and base
The Gunman thanks a lot for reply- respect ! Just ordered FLG5 with 1.4 tip. Love your videos, keep going
Paint looks so good. I wonder if they still sand and buff a paint job like that.
got this gun on your recommendation, I got the 1.4 tip and bought the 2.0mm tip and needle separately. super cheap gun but works good

I hope I'm not sounding stupid here but when I got my FLG 5 a little blue gasket was in there Was this put there to confuse me or does it have a use
Have you decided not to use a gun filter/trap the one that is air line regulator located for a particular reason ?
Hello, which gun is better in your opinion for base coat and clear coat..Devilbiss FLG 5 1.4 or Devilbiss GPI 1.4 ??
Hi, My Deviblis FLG5 from sprayguns-direct (good company) is my no1 gun 👍
Would you clean a new unused Gun with thinners before using it Gunny? Cheers Rob

Yes, this gun would be totally fine. I'd probably recommend the 1.4 though. I actually have a great video on the topic.

Hey Gunny, what's your choice of underbody paints? Lizard skin, bully bar or something else like that?
B H. I have only ever used Raptor liner but I love it, I used the tintable version for the first time a few weeks ago and it worked really well, I've got footage and I'll have to put a vid of it together when I get the time.
The Gunman awesome, Raptor was the other one i was looking at too. Looking forward to the video. How many L did you use for how big of an area?

How many pressure bars do use in devilbiss flg5 1.8mm?TIA
G'day Kevin here.
I have one of these undercoat guns same colour as what Allan Jones has.
Im sure mine is genuine.

Okay got it! I Guess I’m good to go. Btw, I’m in the Philippines but I just shop online and deliver to address in the US. It’s easier that way.
What do you think of the flg693?
Hi gunman. And all.
What settings do you guys have with the FLG5 in a 1.4 when using clear or HS solid??? How many turns out and pressure etc??
I’ve just got one of these with the 1.8 tip on it. Would you say a 1.4 would be good for basecoats and clear. I’m just a DIY painter at home.
Absolutely, this gun is great for base and clear with 1.4
The Gunman thanks for taking the time to reply Gunny. Much appreciated 🤛🤝🤟
Devilbliss FLG are absolute workhorse of a prime/base/top coat gun.
Thanks for your videos! for primer which one you choose Iwata Airgunsa AZ3 or FLG5?
I'd say FLG5 because it has a bigger fan
@@TheGunmanChannel Thanks! I was trying to decide between both.
I bought this because you, it is good product for sure.

What’s the pressure setting needed?
I want a new gun now thanks gunman lol... keep up the great videos
Can you say if the FLG 5 marked Brazil is fake? All the other engravings looks good ...just no UK markings..
The original FLG5 was made in Brazil. It would be legit
@@TheGunmanChannel thanks ..really appreciate the response and your channel, it has helped alot..
Question - If I buy the 1.4mm gun I'll also get a different tip for primer. Would you recommend the 1.8 or 2.0 tip in the gravity gun for primer? Thanks.
Albert J3 he is using the 1.8 in the video ...
Would you recommend the 1.8 for direct gloss?
Go 1.4, 1.8 is more for high build primer.
@@TheGunmanChannel cheers
Gunny can you do more vids of filling and blocking cheers
so do you spray everything at 1 bar which is 15psi right? Or only primers ?
Whats your thoughts on Star Evo-T 4F spraygun ?
is that gun of Alans a 2mm. Jefferson sell them for $240 aussie
If I was to purchase this gun for my priming jobs would I be able to swap the nozzle to a 1.4 for my finishing or does it not work like that?
You could, but you'd have to get the needle and fluid tip.
Thanks mate, might be my option for now I’m just a back yarder in the process of building my Patrol 👌🏼 love the channel
isnt the w400 better? its 345 bucks vs 240 bucks for flg5 aus dollar

Can I put an FLG 1.8 tip and needle on my SGK?
gunman, as always good videos. a suggestion you could activate the sub-titles to Spanish
I have recommended your channel to several friends but they do not speak English.
Matt in U.S. here, I am clinically addicted to your channel. I need fumes! Please help!
Does this gun have a 3M PPS 2.0 Adapter that will work with this? Would appreciate the info.. thanks
I see this was specified on Paintguns Direct..
3M PPS adapter select No.3 (16033)
but wasn't clear whether this is the standard PPS or PPS 2.0 variety..
GPI vs FLG5 which one give the best finish result from your opinion gunman?..
Rey Jr I'd probably have to say the GPI would be the better of the 2. The GPI is essentially a GTI Pro but without all the bells and whistles.
The Gunman thank u so much..I'm been saving for gti pro lite.but this will do for now,it will be the 1st gun i ever own for my self after 10years in this trade.until i gain profits back to buy gti pro lite someday..
have a blessed day gunman.
Is the FLG5 -18 any good for satin black acrylic top coat?
It wouldn't be ideal but would work if you wind the fluid in, the 1.4 world be better.
@@TheGunmanChannel Ok, I keep getting told that I should use a 1.8 -2.0 for acrylic
Hey I kinda miss these where your in the corner talking
Hi. I was looking to buy this gun to spray furniture and kitchen units etc. Which needle size is more suitable, 1.4 or 1.8 ?
Kind regards
I use this gun to spray water based and precat paints on furniture. 1.8 or 2.0 for your primer and 1.4 or 1.8 for top coat
@@bespokedfurniture It can not be used for water-based paints.
Love this gun
