I read somewhere that Shure itself says that their capsules are the same, but the sound is different from the SM7B (with the reinforcement in low frequencies) because of the cylindrical shape of the housing. It makes sense. However, they are two excellent microphones.
I believe they took the SM-57 capsule and they tweaked it a little bit for the SM7B, I can't remember what changes they made but I think they made a few changes to the voice coil on a couple of other things and then they designed the SM7B body to have a resident chamber which allows some of the low end to resonate inside of the body giving it that darker warmer sound so there's definitely some differences in the capsules are extremely close but I think they're slightly different I wish I could remember exactly what was different as I did found a great article that really explained the differences between the capsules on the s157 58 in SM7B they're basically all very slightly different if I remember correctly, almost identical but I think at least the SM77B has a slightly tweaked capsule but I think they all three might have some very small differences now I know the 58 has a transformer inside and I think that the 57 did it one time but I heard that they removed the transformer from the 57, not sure if that's true or rumor and the SM7B does not have a transformer inside matia 758 still does I believe in the SM-57 may or may not I can't remember offhand but I think I read that they took the transformer out of the 57 so there's always different things that can change all kinds of stuff in these mics crazy, I just wish I had a good memory come if I did I'd be able to tell you exactly what happened when but my memory sucks
