    I have been using the dip method for 2 years. I have many tricks that work well and decrease the time it takes to perfect this technique. I use Kiss nail glue as the (glue)1st step. I use a small tray that holds the powder and place my nail on top of the powder gently. I do this to all nails, brush of excess and start again. 2-3 "dips". I then use the activator (purchased separately at Sally's) on all nails. Twice.
    Next I smooth and shape as needed. Use activator one more time. If you want, you can now use regular polish and follow with a topcoat. Or, if you have a colored powder, use regular top coat. Works well and I get 2 weeks out of this technique. You can buy everything separately at Walmart except the activator. Good luck!

      @@jordanquintana464 It isn't hard to change polish color. Just use a paper towel with remover quickly and buff the dip powder coat to remove any little rough bits, then polish again. I use the remover Soak it Off (blue) from Walmart to remove the acrylic. I wet a cotton ball with it and place it on my nail. I use those pink clippy things that you can get online (Amazon). They hold the cotton in place. I do one hand at a time. Usually takes 10 minutes max for each hand. I then rub the nails with a nice oil. This hydrates the nail. Good luck.-Joy

    • @paulsieswaim1862

      @Sarah Lewis I use the activator from Sally's Beauty Store. The one I have came with a pump spray. I pour some in a clean nail polish bottle and use this to brush it on. Easier to control and not wasteful. You can clean an old nail polish bottle with a bit of remover. Then rinse it out and let dry completely. Good luck.

    Great video, I use a dehydrator or primer on the tip of my natural nail before adding the false tip and yes, the bond adhesive of the base layer really sticks to the nail and actually lasts longer than nail glue.

    My best friend swears by dip nails, but every time I’ve gotten them professionally done, they are so bumpy and thick. I don’t have hours and hours to spend filing my nails until they’re all even. I don’t know how people perfect these! I would love to learn because it does seem like a nice alternative to my typical gel polish.

    • @GabbyAngelique
      @GabbyAngelique  4 роки тому +12

      Veronica Anderson it really just takes practice! I like to take my time with the pro base to make sure I’m not getting a thick uneven layer of dip powder..also using a more opaque dip powder will help too that way you only need 2 dips so it won’t require too much filing

    • @justinechoiiii
      @justinechoiiii 4 роки тому +5

      I found that if my nail tech waits too long after applying the base and then dipping into the powder, the end result is uneven. I think the base may dry faster in some areas resulting in a blotchy finish. I would apply the base and dip right away! Also when applying the powder the dipping method is good because it’s an even in/out layer of the powder, but in the case like this video where the nail is too long then the technique she used is good. Definitely takes a lot of practice and a lot of the time nail techs are rushing trying to get to the next client. Wish you luck!! Love dip powders. 🥰

      @@joanna9014 Thank you for the suggestion. But I do my own nails at home. I tried dip at the salon, assuming they’d do it best. I tried a few times. My nails always came out terrible, no matter what salon I went to. I always had to fix them once I got home. So I have been doing them at home for about 6 months now, and thankfully I have perfected them so they look better than they ever did from a salon. I have been doing gel nails at home for years, so I’m sure that experience helped a bit.

    Hey Miss Gabby! Just a quick question: I see you have tried several different kits from different brands. Which one do you like the best? Which one do you think is the best for beginners? I want to try dip powders, but I have NEVER dipped before lol... I just hate how thick and 'bubbly' they always look because of dipping 4x-5x...
    I mainly want to try them to grow my nails out a little longer.. but I want something that I only need to dip like2x to get good color pay off and add a bit of strength and protection. while avoiding that bubble-look lol.
    Looking forward to yours or anyone else's replies! Thanks yall.
    Stay safe!! ❤️️

    I did dip powder with tips once. My first time ever having tips come off! Within 2 weeks, only 5 remained smh. The next nail tech I went too said they didnt do it right. I just purchased an led lamp as I plan on trying to do my own nails. I seen a video on a lady using dip powder and gel for the lamp. If its just dip powder you cannot use it correct?

    • @justinechoiiii
      @justinechoiiii 4 роки тому +1

      Alima Wilson Hi! I’ve also experienced nail techs use the lamps for curing. Maybe it speeds up the process? But a desk fan (got one from Amazon for like $5) works best for me! Make sure to face the fan away from your face so the excess powder and fumes don’t go into your lungs. I think also buffing out the natural nail and dehydrating it before putting on the tips work a bit better for me. I also like to place the tips a tinyyyyyy (I’m talkin like 1-1.5 millimeters) bit higher on the nail bed makes them feel more secure. Wish you luck!!

      @@GabbyAngelique thank you for that. I have one more thing I'd like to ask. I am from Michigan and when living there, I had acrylic nails on and off for 15 years and had no problems. I moved to Cali in 2006. After moving here the first time I had my nails put on was in 2015. When I had them on my real nail started lifting from my skin and my cuticles split so bad I had to get a prescription to heal them. When this happened I waited 9 months to put them back on. I went back to the same place. The same thing happened. I took them off and about 3 weeks later went somewhere new. The same thing happened at the new place. I have no idea why this all happened. A friend said she thought it might be that they use different chemicals in Cali than in Michigan. Do you know if there are acrylic products for sensitive skin or should I just give up on ever having acrylic nails? Btw, gel did the same thing to me.

      @@shannonmcwilliams6929 some people are allergic to the chemicals in some of the products used to do acrylic nails. It could be that your MI salon used products which were hypoallergenic chemicals vs the CA salon which is most likely using regular acrylic ones. You may ask them if they use any hypoallergenic products there. If not check your area online, a lot of salons will advertise it. Good luck!

      Shannon McWilliams I am allergic to acrylic monomer and gel polish (acrylates) and that caused a few of my nails to lift and my cuticles were really swollen and painful for a few weeks. You could have just developed an allergy. I have tried dip powder though and I’m not allergic to that.

    I have a question .... if I don’t have the clear dip powder could I just move along and do my nails without it?

    Hi! So when you want to remove the color and you soak your nails, does the nail tip come off too? Or can you just remove color and change it with same nail tip? Just wondering if you have to put nail tips on each time until your real nails grow enough? Thanks!

    • @GabbyAngelique

      hi! yes when you soak off the nails the tip will also soak off
      You could change the color by painting over the nails. You could also use normal nail polish over dip and change that color by using nail polish remover that doesn't have acetone, that way it doesn't soak off the nail

    I've tried this 3 times and mine end up SO lumpy/bumpy/uneven! I can't seem to even them out so they are smooth after the activator is on. Any tips?

      Very thin layers of the pro base helped me. Takes practice though. Make sure the brush doesn't have a lot of product when spreading on the nail.

    So I followed all steps exactly! (Very helpful by the way- thank you!) but the last few steps when you said to put the activator on & wipe off with a paper towel then wait about a minute & put your finishing gel on, I did that & my brush got hard. Any tips how to avoid that from happening again?

    • @GabbyAngelique
      @GabbyAngelique  3 роки тому

      glad it helped! You can try letting the activator sit on your nail for about 2 minutes and then wiping it off with a lint free paper towel, or makeup sponge. Also, re-dip your top coat after each nail. Most dip kits also come with a brush cleaner so you can dip your top coat brush in there if you find it's still getting hard!
