Cassettes give the samples good saturation and punch to the low end. Love what you did with the flips Sir! Just dug up my old Sony deck from the 90s, gonna start using that to re-sample.
I have 2 Walkman type jawns, but I never focused on cassette sampling, but you got me thinking about it! I also want that Tascam 424, but that's another story, Dope work as usual my brother!!🙏🏾✊🏾💚
I have a Portastudio, bought at Guitar Center in 1995, was my first piece of gear I purchased with an SM-57 and an SM-58, still have them all, 🤣 Wish it still worked properly, saw some online for a few hundred. We used to mess with the pitch a lot! Good LUCK!!
Awesome ... For the love I "lost" two garbage bags full of tapes yo. Commercial releaese, rare maxi-singles, rehearsals, DJ sets on the radio, ...man... SOOO MUCH I only got rid of my dual deck just last summer It's like missing that fly chick ....the one u coulda bagged easily, and just let her go i miss h.e.r. Peace, General
🫡Great analogy , I lost a few CD mix tapes like J-Love with RZA and Kid Kapri 52 Beats even though I can listen anytime online it ain’t like having the physical copy
I feel your pain I lost two crates of original hip hop vinyl back in the day I only paid 70 bucks for because everyone wanted CDs. I can only imagine what they are worth now.
Love the Sample! That Bass is CRAZY!!! What did you use for it? I like the LFO effect, but would just use it for a little while, then back to the before. Keep it coming!
Gotta dust off my cassette deck and run to the local thrift store to pick up some of those .25 cent gems. I'm going to be busy this weekend for reals. Hahah!
ha my man was sampling from tapes in the early 90s because he was broke couldn't get a recored player. That stuff still sounds dope today, also sampling from early rap tapes because there was no way to find those samples like bob james etc.
My bruh you have to change up the kick pattern sometimes, and the percussions, use different snares, hit hats, kicks and i never hear you use any sub bass. I love the sample skills though 100
Ha I thought based off the title He was actually making “boom bap sampling cassettes” for distribution 😂😂😂 What a difference the word “by” makes Let’s see these young cats cop, use, and more importantly MAINTAIN the deck. Repair techs are becoming far and few (unless it’s modern and has a factory warranty)
Kirk, your energy is INFECTIOUS. Love what you do
You a true inspiration to myself. Love your energy and commitment and beats 🫡🔥

I really like this idea! I got a JVC dual deck player/recorder just throw in the closet. And I got about 40 cassettes to sample from.
That’s what’s up plus some old book stores have cassettes in the back sometimes
