This is exactly why when a horse rears, you lean forward up on their neck. Never ever ever pull on a rearing horse. Recipe for disaster.
Brittani Hall I
Omg ignore that
Michelle Torgersen lmfao
yeah you just have to be careful or else their head could hit yours which can give you a really bad concussion or worse
Yep that’s what that horns for grab on to that sucker and pull forward I had an accident like this. And I’ve learn. Don’t pull back on them reins cause they just gone pull they head back and boom. Glad she’s ok
Yes I broke all the ribs on the right side of my body, my horse is fine just his teeth were so bad he was in so much pain but he is better and I am finally all healed up
Omg 😲
Omg I’m so sorry I’m glad your ok
Thank god and tell him you love him and the mom goes ohhhhh laughs … blank shitttt
Glad you're OK! Does he still barrel race or did you have him stop?
Realize this is an old post,
But so glad to hear you are ok,
As a Dad of a barrel racing teen, I pray every time she mounts,
Actually at the NBHA National Championships now.
I know it often be hard to evaluate, wether a horse is hot, just a bit of attitude or in some sort of pain.
My daughters normally fairly chilled,
Can be high strung, full of spirit before a race, and he will pop up, rear up to some extent just before a race, I’ve seen others much worse,
But she’s learned not to walk him near the alley way, until it’s her time to run….
As he can be a handful.
I almost had a horse come back over on me once many years back.
God Bless.
I could hear the fear & concern in the voice,
Of what I assume is your mother.
I'm a cowboy, and I grew up in the life. Any idiot can see that horse didn't want to run that day. For some reason, it just didn't feel right for him. The rider is lucky to be alive, and I hope she learns to listen to her horse.
i agree! some horses don't even want to race in general.
horse is soured out on barrels!!
Ok like you don't say your a cowboy you show it
His teeth were messed up. She even said so herself. Read people.
@@mckuhn1000pain in the teeth if you read the caption
Azaree Lady, you don't think I don't know it was my fault??? I didn't EVER blame my horse I took blame for it and stood there and took it like a man. You don't have to be so rude about it. I have been around horses since I was born.
Woah woah woah where did I ever say any of that?!?!?!?
um I'm sorry. My friend may have borrowed my account again and said some rude things. Truly sorry (:
its ok, i have taken a lot of heat from this video i know I WAS in the wrong, my horse was not feeling good and i didn't listen to the signs
Everyone makes mistakes. I am just glad you and your horse are ok.
Thanking the Lord you are okay...however, I just want to say. You didn't take it like a man. You took it. Period. In fact, you took it like a woman. I know it's just a figure of speech, but us women are perfectly capable and tough enough ourselves. This video is proof. :)
Damn! As a barrel racer myself this is something that can happen very often. If my horse starts to act up before we go in I will switch, because I will not risk getting hurt. If your horse is acting like that they are in pain, or they are not ready to be barrel racing. It is just that simple, im glad you are okay though. Just be careful.
The guy on that brown horse with the stripe absolutely slid off the saddle hah. His horse seemed so calm as well.
all them cowboys rushing up to ya. lucky.
LizzyBethN wow I can't even! When your stuck under a horse everyone is going to run up to you to help you get to safety.
LizzyBethN wow I can't even! When your stuck under a horse everyone is going to run up to you to help you get to safety.
I wouldn't call this "lucky"
Omg yeahs!
This happened to me one day when I was barrel racing and it hurt me really bad but the next day I was still riding. I love your enthusiasm!! You sound like a really sweet person!!!!!
Really? A horse reared and fell on top of you and you were riding the next day? Wow thats really not believable
@@elizabethdiscostrong7188 right hahah.
Damn I’m glad your ok. That’s terrifying. What I observed is that your horse seemed to be agitated by whenever you pulled on his face. Whether the bit was too harsh or his teeth were bothering him, something was bugging him. And when he reared up, instead of leaning forward like you should do, you pulled back on the reins, causing him to go over backwards with you. I’ve had a horse rear up like that when I was ten. But instead of pulling back, I leaned forward and he was fine and we went down. I got off and calmed him down as well. It definitely was rider error but it does not mean your stupid or your dumb. We all make mistakes and in this case, the mistake caused a bad accident, I’m just glad your ok. That’s a rider’s worst nightmare. Either being flipped over backwards on, being dragged or stepped on. Those are my biggest fears as a rider.
yes my kids were there, and ya everyone was trying to get them to not go running towards me
Have had that happen and have seen it happen. Glad both horse and owner are okay and still barrel racing
the horse reared up because the guy had pressure on his face then when he was rearing she lost her balanced and was pulling on his face. you can see that because he is shaking is head when he went up.. People need to be aware of their horses if they might rear up to NOT pull on their mouth.. hope she was okay
No it had bad teeth she said that.
@@mckennai.921 people say stuff like that as an excuse. im sure the horse has been worked hard in the arena and just doesnt want to go in unless thats to cover up something worse but unless his teeth were really bad he shouldnt have acted like that unless she was already pulling his face alot. she was pulling on his face alot when he reared which caused him to rear more because he was in a ton of pain. i wouldnt want to go in the arena if i was beat and kicked really hard with spurs and got my face ripped off either. i dont blame the horse though
Good job whoever was filming...no screaming... keeping kids calm....
When your horse is telling you, they’re telling you. Listen to them.
HOLY S* I CANNOT STOP WATCHING THIS
My aunt had this happen at a barrel race in fort smith Arkansas As she was running barrels she almost died but thank god she didnt an after a hard road of learning to walk again an do everything again she is back to normal an still barrel racing she has been on a horse her whole life its what my family does I have another aunt who was national barrel racing champ back in the mid 90s as well IM SO THANKFUL YOU SERVIVED AND DOING WELL
I hate seeing riders argue with their horses, just because they are so ignorant and want the ribbon or reputation so bad, that they don't care how the horse feels. This horse was clearing saying he didn't want to do this.... Selfish rider to say the least. And she most likely tells everyone how much she loves her horse, and how well she takes care of it, blah , blah, blah...... makes me sick to my stomach. Poor horse. Best thing for that horse, is a new owner. After reading some of the comments, it is clear that the owner/rider didn't care about the horse at all.. Should have checked the teeth before the bit even went into his mouth. That is what a caring owner/rider would have / should have done. There is just no excuses. Horses are NOT unpredictable.. if you know about horse behavior, there isn't much that they do that is a mystery anymore. Anybody that sayss horses are unpredictable doesn't know a thing about horses other than how to ride and exploit them. Just cause you can ride, does not mean you know horses or how to care for them. Anybody can ride, it takes a real selfless person to be a good horseman. This could have been totally prevented... Sorry you got hurt, but I am even more sorry that you caused your horse pain, over a stupid ribbon
Couldn't agree with you more. I was wondering how they didn't know the horses teeth were that bad. A tooth ache is one thing but for the horse to be in that much pain...wow...not good...
my horse did it cause his teeth were bad, but they are all better now and he is back to his normal self!!!!!
It's you fault for not checking AND for not paying attention to the signs.
+Azaree Lady don't be so rude about it omg
I seriously hate this shit because I explained already that another person who uses this acc wrote that.
+Azaree Lady well get your act together.
Incase you can't tell this was 8 months ago. I had been letting someone use this account bu she kept doing this shit so I changed the password. So you can F off.
Omg so glad your ok! That’s horrible every barrel racers nightmare!
Never was my nightmare. I knew our horses and they ARE predictable if you listen to them.
Karen, I had never thought about it that until you said it... And I agree they are unpredictable 100% of the time... There is no such thing as a bomb proof horse!!!!
Meghan Rivera i
Horses are very predictable, just like about every other animal. Every animal will give you warning signs, you just have to know their body language. Signs of discomfort from a horse include ear pinning, active tail, slashing head, and opening of their mouth. I'll edit this in a second with how many warning signs I can see.
That horses tail is active the entire time and it even gave a warning rear. It reared again in pain, and you pulled back on that bit, causing it to flip. If a horse rears, you give it release and hop off to make sure it's okay. NEVER do you add more pressure, that's an easy way to get crushed by an animal 10 times your size.
Liøness , Just Liøness they are very predictable in their unpredictability.
You should know they're not unpredictable at all 😂 they're predictably spooky or reactive to pain
The horse is not crazy. You saw the way he was shaking his head a was still shaking it when je reared? Yeah he was saying something hurts!
the horse was pen shy..
I think it looks like his mouth hurts, cause he reacted when his mouth felt even the slightest pressure, probably a tooth needs to be floated
turn_and_burn 4 I agree!
I'm just glad you're okay!! Was the horse ok? Yes, I understand this was years ago but I still worry
Sadly, they probably put him down or sent him to a slaughterhouse... even though that was clearly the humans fault... idiots
Omg, ouch
Was her kids there to see that? Is that why they were trying to get the kids away?
Oooooh, horrible Fall! :/ I hope you'r okay! :|
The girl was saying ok ok to the kids but she was the only one freaking out
I hope you wear a helmet now :( that must have been so scary!
Foreal what and idiot
You did all you could do-- when a horse freezes up like that..it's really tough..... glad ur ok~
(Love the amazing cowboy that jumped off his horse to protect you..))!
This is horrible but Im sorry the laughin "hahaHAH OH SHIT" got to me and Im dying of laughter
Wow hope your OK. Scary moments.
Oh my god you are lucky to even be alive. I bet that was the most scariest experience you've ever encountered....
I live on a farm with horses, granite I don’t ride any of them but a halfy, but I can tell you this that horse didn’t want to ride that day not sure why but it’s best to listen to your horse and not just the show ppl.
I am fine! And no he had a Jim Warner hack on... I don't run with bits... And my body was trying to things while my mind was on other things... It was a freak accident that's all and I don't blame my horse one but
that happened to me it hurts..hope your ok
pardon me, but couldn't you have edited the walking sideways photography out?
I hope that u are fine and people think that the horse is bad but u can tell he was scared if I was a horse I would be scared
To me it looks like the horse didn't want to run, he spins away from the arena just before he goes up
No it was his mouth. Either the bit was too harsh or his teeth were bugging him. Whenever he had the reins pulled, he acted up.
My niece used to barrel race almost lost her beloved horse and almost lost her bladder in a accident
I hope she is okay!:(
i still love horses
Maybe the teeth but I doubt it. Horse probably didn't have a sweat on it before entering the arena. If you don't have it in the warm up pen you won't have it in the arena.
Katie, Katie, get the kids ---- loses control of camera
Where was this filmed? It's beautiful
Prob Utah
This is the people's fault. You could plainly see the horse didn't want to do this. His "language" was letting then know but they ignored it and still tried to force it. The girl was leaning kind of sideways in the saddle from the start as well which must have been awkward for the house. Just plain stupid...
My friend piper had almost the same accident and died it was horrifying to watch ''tis video and I am now in tears
gosh, people are so pointlessly mean!!
were u okay?
did you break anything?
was the horse okay?
How was it getting back in yhe saddle after this?
So sorry for that man 😭😱
or woman
what kind of bit was it
I know this was a long time ago but Im just glad you and your horse are ok that must of been really scary but us cowgirls are tough glad everything's ok
sorry i know this is a serious video... but that laugh at the beginning
It’s obvious the horse was in a mood and was not walking right so that’s the first issue and the other is the girl is too big for horse riding. They need to have a weight limit. It’s very dangerous to the horse and the person riding them
anyone else relieved that horse was lame in his front leg when she approached the gate??
Did you find out why your horse did that?
My mom knew that would happen to me with my old horse I know that’s not her but omg are you ok
I hope u were ok and the horse my horse gets to ramed up at the gate all the time
@thinklikeahorse what do you think?
The same thing literally happened to me...I HAD NO CHOOSE TO SELL THAT HORSE BECAUSE
Exploiter...
That must have been so scary
I never blame the horse I just blame anyone else if it's their fault I never blame the horse... EVER!!!
NO HATE but she did pull the horse down by holdin the rains back this is a reminder to have reins to the ears if the horse stands!
Once I saw a video that was similar to this except for it was on a show called Untamed & Uncut from Animal Planet. The horse she was in the arena but she ran wild and started missing the barrel then she reared up and landed on her rider / owner then her horse got back up and was dragging her but her owner said whoa. She is trained to do her owner got her foot out of the stirrup and when she did that her horse just trotted off sadly that did end their career of barrel racing the problem was that the horse she had a sharp tooth and it made a sore spot and that's why the horse was acting up because she had a very bad sore spot from a sharp tooth but now the horse it's just come and they are trail riding. And her owner said horses are animals and animals do stuff and you have to respect that and that is true so watching the video in this video my theory is you should always listen to animal if something is wrong with them they're trying to tell you but you're not going to listen you're going to pay the consequence maybe the horse wasn't trying to do anything bad but you not listening to your horse and you need to they cannot talk to you so you have to help the horse to hear or see what is wrong.
i WAS THE 200TH LIKE!!! YAY
That was so funny😂
Were you and your horse ok?!?!?!
Is she alright?
Hope he was ok ( cowboys are always okay lol 😂)
The rider was a she
Ohh sorry hope ( she ) Was ok
omg .. the same thing happend to me in decomber. my horse reared and landed on me.
I am not trying to be mean but that was your fault when a horse rears up you don't pull back on the reins it causes them to flip over backwards on you
Susan Lane when a horse goes up so fast like that nobody knows what to do. A rearing horse is not a safe one. I got flipped over on and I didn't even pull on the reins my horse flipped on me to get me off. You can't tell if she did or didn't pull the horse over people like who who think they know everything don't because in a freak accident like that there is nothing you can do right
There's plenty you can do to prevent stuff like this: Learn how to ride, don't ride a horse that clearly doesn't like the rider, don't take a lazy horse to barrel racing.
The horse felt cornered, was being led by the halter and had another horse right up its ass!
Prayers to you
Don't force the horse....
I had a hired do that to me it hurts like you want to just sit there and not move I jacked my body up and I'm 11 years old
OMG I GO TO SOME BARREL RACES AND THAT WAS JUST HORRIBLE
accidents happen it all happened so quick I'm sure she couldn't think twice about it. I had a young horse fall on me I put 5 rides on her and she did fine then took her to an arena and she reared up lost her footing and went sideways on me. I've had that horse for 6 years now and she never did it again nor have I come off that horse sense that incident she's a hell of a horse doesn't make you a bad rider or the horse a bad horse crap happens.
I got Into an accident on Tuesday I couldn't of prevented it she did it on her own and there was no cues on why she did it or none that I noticed u don't always know when it's going to happen can everyone please stop hating on this girl
Ouch.
wow were you ok
No way I used to go to this rodeo
its the guy fault for yanking on his mouth trying to "help you"
Are u and the horse,ok
was some one laughing
She was laughing that it started to rear up, she stopped when it fell back onto her
This is what an improperly trained horse does. Don't even let your alley issues get to crow hopping. They'll just keep progressing to this. Don't blame it on his teeth. If it WAS his teeth that's horrible on your part and, you leaned back and pulled on the reins. He reared due to improper training and bad habits getting out of control or not proper vet care on your part. There's no in between.
Ellie Green not necessarily "improper training" could just be blown up. A horse can be the best broke but a blown up barrel horse will do this.
Blown up is improper training.@@alexiswilson8543
😱😨are you ok
Curious as to whether you knowingly ignored your intuition in moments prior to the incident?
I dare say your horse listened to his, he fought hard transcend the energetics facing him.
I'm so sorry to see you get hurt, and then again by all these bitchy comments. Wheat and chaff, it will seperate :) xxx
that is sad
I wonder why horses are not keen on barrel racing...so unpredictable only if you are blind, deaf and brainless.
Poor horse.
Poor bby
Why doesn't she hit him? I assume because that would make it worse. When a horse does something like that they are trying to tell you something. Before you explode with anger listen and find out WHY they did what they did. My horse for instance bites me. No she does not get punished. Why? She was beat and abused. Thats what she learned. When she's ready she'll stop. Just the same with a rearing horse. He could be back sore, pinched nerve, sore legs. Who knows.
this is the most idiotic thing i have ever heard allowing an stupid animal to hurt you no you beat the shit out of it until it doesnt hurt you no more. humans shit not animals we people give up so muvh time in our life to allow animals to do whatever they want
Phasma Strange So you just let her bite you...?? That's no better. Abused or not abused, you need to correct your horse. Not correcting your horse will make her more dangerous in the long run, which isn't good for you or her, nor anyone else that may come in contact with her. You know your horse better than I do, so I'm not saying you have to hit her. But I suggest you correct her in some way. My horse is a saint, but sticky with her two front feet when I'm picking out her hooves. If she successfully pulls her hoof out of my hand, she gets a quick, hard smack on the shoulder of the hoof that she pulled away. She's much better about it now after me correcting her.
tho video is sad I hope she is ok
I am good. Had 12 broken ribs and a fractured sternum. Horse was absolutely fine!!!
Ok I was worried
Cause I was scared for you
+Meghan Rivera wow.I'm sorry to heart that.but at least your okay.
I know many people are saying "Why didnt she wear a helmet?" Well some rodeos and barrel races you are not allowed to wear a helmet for "uniformal" reasons. That may not be the case here, but I hope the horse and rider are both alright!
Yeah it’s stupid. But Fallon Taylor changed that rule. After breaking her neck in 2009, she came back and won the 2014 world title in barrel racing with a helmet!
apparently you werent spending that time with your horse that you needed to in the making of this video!💁 practice what you spreak big boy!
Omg.
apparently you werent spending that time with your horse that you needed to in the making of this video!💁 practice what you preach big boy!
#mindyourmelon
I meant horse instead of hired lol
Buddy Mr T your good boys!
Omg I hope you are ok😵
But not bit
