@horzecrazy1 horsecrazy, if you watch the slo-mo version, you're right.. coming into the first barrel, the horses back legs were in the wrong lead. but it switched before the barrel, and then going to the second barrel it did a flying lead change. if you don't know what leads are, there are many informational videos on youtube that you can watch to learn.
Wow that guy in the chair seriously! But that girl knew what she was doing but if ur a barrel racer like I am you would notice the dirt isn't good dirt it's too loose! The horse didn't have any traction therefore it slipped goin into the second barrel
@MagenEfron A rotational fall irreparably damaged my spinal cord and spine, the body protector absorbed enough of the impact to prevent my spinal cord being crushed entirely, although I fell into a coma, the riding helmet prevented any long-term head injury. Your right, it is a personal choice but I couldn't be more grateful that I had the sense to protect myself. What about eventers worldwide? They have the sense to protect their lives as well. Safety equipment is there for a reason.
wow yikes thats scary gotta love barrel racing on bad footing. I've had alot of close calls but never had my horse fall all the way like that yet. I hope you were okay and I love how the guy in the back watching just sits there and dosn't move or change expressions
hope your ok. i agree you are put together pretty nice. I did rodeo for two years in college after never seeing one in my life, but i never saw a barrel racer wreck
@mightysteelzipper actually no...the horse switched leads fine...he even ran three strides on the left lead.....its when he began to gather for the turn...the back legs slid and the front end couldn't get out of the way fast enough.
That is too bad...that run was lookin great! That horse sure is a runner! I hope you and your horse made it out ok! That looked painfull! The good news is that the first barrel was amazing...wow! I hope you weren't hurt!
If you think someone is seriously hurt then the last thing you should do is "help them". You want to get next to them and get them talking but DO NOT move them. That could make things worse. By talking to them and having them respond, you calm them down, assess the situation, make sure they're alert, and wait for someone more qualified to help.
And at districts last year on the horse I am training from Dressage we did pole bending and we made a turn too sudden and I fell of on the pole on my side! Everyone was freakin out but it didn't even hurt and my horse idin't even go nuts. She just stood beside me nudging me like she was makin sure I was ok! I LUV HER SO MUCH!
WOW! WERE YOU OK! Oh, and I know you get hurt a lot, but that is something you have to have the courage to keep doing. I almost broke my neck getting drug around a couple years ago and I crack my neck still and it looks like I have trets but I am still riding and training a horse from Dressage to barrels!
She is such a great rider and this years nbha teen world champion on that horse!!!! I've raced at that arena before and it doesn't have the best ground in the world imo. Congrats on your win at World :)
Yea, I do barrels too, and I used to be afraid too! But, do you ever think of it when you do it? Because I just think of how amazing it is to do such an amazing thing! And that stuff is pretty rare! :-)
Holy crap, I hope you and your horse were ok! That was a pretty bad wreck. I wanted to punch the guy in the background lol. When someone falls and doesn't get up it's usually not a good sign!
Wow, are you ok after that wreck? In slow motion it looks like he switched leads going to second, but didn't switch on the back (cross fired) and he got mixed up and slipped because of it. Hope you feel better!
listen, as long as you know your a good rider. nothing else matters. don't listen to those other jerks. i ride horses my self and i'm not the best in the world. don't let yourself get sucked into these wars. its not worth it.
I've run at that arena before. The person that helped you in had a quick stop. That guy setting the barrel just sits there I would have jumped right up.
I have seen plenty of hot headed horse go into the arena, prancing, spinning and rearing and soon as they are done the rider drops the reins and the horse walks out like a calm pleasure horse. I have seen it happen hundreds of times.
the guy was like 'i hate watchin this crap why should i help her' then when people started talking about him not helping her he was like ' o crap i better go help her so people know i hate this crap'
Aw man that sucks. I really hope you where ok. I hate seeing a rider still on the ground after they fall. B/c us cowgirls are pretty strong but when something like that happens itz not fun at all. But you must have a very nice bond w/ your horse b/c he was really trying not to step on you. Good luck in the future. & I hope you where all right.
Are you OK? It has happen to me dear. I still love barrel racing. Remember You just got to get back in that saddle and go get them!!!! From a barrell racer to another
omg are you okaty!?! that looks so painful. but your lucky to have a horse like that, when you see the video you can see that the horse tried its best not to hit you hope your okay :)
That was nasty! Hope your okay! and the guy sitting in the chair did see her fall but probably couldnt see her still on the ground, the barrel is in the way.. he probably just thought she would get up...tords the end you do see him getting up and going over to help.
actually i have barrel raced i do both but i dont ride western as much anymore mostly english because its more of a challenge western is very easy laid back type or riding english is mor concentrated and harder
well hope your okay sorry that ride went so wrong but hope back up in the saddle. but at least the horse was tring to miss you. but i know it dont always happen take care be safe
Almost the same thing happened to me except that i was done with the run and my horse slid and i lost my balnce (i had lost my sturrip) and he stepped on me
if that horse respected her it should not have stepped on her five times. Hell if my horse would ever do that to me. I don't see respect because its a neurotic horse doing what it was programmed to react to ... and when things went bad it still did what it thought it should do, straight line home- trampling the crap out of that girl in the process. The animal is practically running from a lion, you can tell there is too much excitement! Gotta love those crazy barrel racers.
that one guy just sits there, how horrible!
hope the rider and the horse is ok what a horrible accident!!!!
The guy in the chair should have been the first person to be there in the arena
why didn't the guy in the chair get up to see if she was ok? 😑
That is amazing...your horse tried with every fiber of his being to not step on you.
I really hope you were ok...that looked really scary!
ur first barrel was amazing!!
that was gonna turn out to
be a great run!!!
The horse switched leads at the wrong time
@horzecrazy1 horsecrazy, if you watch the slo-mo version, you're right.. coming into the first barrel, the horses back legs were in the wrong lead. but it switched before the barrel, and then going to the second barrel it did a flying lead change. if you don't know what leads are, there are many informational videos on youtube that you can watch to learn.

Nah, that's the way he tripped. I'm not a barrel racer, but I do think the going was too loose/deep.
Glad you're ok! You have such nice horses.
Looks like he/she caught his front leg while starting to rate.
Bet that was an interesting picture :P
you and your horse remind me of my friend and her QH mooni only her horse is blind in one eye but man he can run, awesome riding btw!
My favorite thing about barrels is the fact that no one wears helmets or any sort of protective gear. God, I love natural selection. XD
wow yikes thats scary gotta love barrel racing on bad footing. I've had alot of close calls but never had my horse fall all the way like that yet.
I hope you were okay and I love how the guy in the back watching just sits there and dosn't move or change expressions
haha i love how the guy in the background is like "uuuhhhh, im just gonna sit here". lol
hope your ok. i agree you are put together pretty nice. I did rodeo for two years in college after never seeing one in my life, but i never saw a barrel racer wreck
@mightysteelzipper

Hey I watched the youth world and just wanted to say congratulations on winning

I like how someone got a picture of the fall...I'd totally keep that right above my bed.
WOW! WERE YOU OK!

What was the name of the second song in this video, when it was in slow motion about Twister?
that was a beast lead change! I hope she's ok though, and the horse.
She is such a great rider and this years nbha teen world champion on that horse!!!! I've raced at that arena before and it doesn't have the best ground in the world imo. Congrats on your win at World :)
OUCH. hope you were okay!! that was a nice run up until then, you can tell how much your horse loves to do it...better luck next time, right? :)
He never brought that front left leg back forward. That sucks cuz that was an awesome first barrel!
Jesus, hun. That was a good one! How's your back? Hope you got to feeling better. :)
Yea, I do barrels too, and I used to be afraid too! But, do you ever think of it when you do it? Because I just think of how amazing it is to do such an amazing thing! And that stuff is pretty rare! :-)
omg... thats like wow. I'm learning to barrel race and I'm scared that kind of thing will happen! but hope you're okk
I saw this on the show most daring last night!
Holy crap, I hope you and your horse were ok! That was a pretty bad wreck. I wanted to punch the guy in the background lol. When someone falls and doesn't get up it's usually not a good sign!
wow, you sure do run good. I hope you were ok.
Wow, are you ok after that wreck? In slow motion it looks like he switched leads going to second, but didn't switch on the back (cross fired) and he got mixed up and slipped because of it. Hope you feel better!

I've run at that arena before. The person that helped you in had a quick stop. That guy setting the barrel just sits there I would have jumped right up.
That one guy that is doing the starter line saw you and just sat there watching!!
I have seen plenty of hot headed horse go into the arena, prancing, spinning and rearing and soon as they are done the rider drops the reins and the horse walks out like a calm pleasure horse. I have seen it happen hundreds of times.
oww that must have hurt heaps :(
can i please use this in my fall video? ull get heaps of credit
Oh my gosh thank goodness your okay!!!!!!
ouuuch!! I hope you ok!! Well the 1st barel was pretty!!! =D
That started out pretty good. And I dont understand that guy sitting in the background casually
yep bad footing in the arena you can see the back right foot start to slide cuz the ground it to loose for the horse to get its footing.
omfg wow I HOPE UR OK THAT LOOKED DEADLY
did you break anything?
Oh my gosh!!! I hope you're ok!!! He stepped right on you!
if u watch real closely in slow motion you can see where his front left foot drags
HOLY COW!! THAT GUY JUST SAT THERE!!!
ON THE SLO MO, THT GUY JUST SITS THERE!
Omg! People she can ride just fine. A lot of you don't realize how hard it is to rude those barrel horses. My horse did the same thing to me.
the guy was like 'i hate watchin this crap why should i help her' then when people started talking about him not helping her he was like ' o crap i better go help her so people know i hate this crap'
Aw man that sucks. I really hope you where ok. I hate seeing a rider still on the ground after they fall. B/c us cowgirls are pretty strong but when something like that happens itz not fun at all. What is that guy doing in the chair? He's just sitting there, not even a surprised look on his face! WOW!

That's what I thought when I watched it in slow-mo. LOL
I hope you're okay. Looks like after the first step, the horse tried to avoid you.

That was nasty! Hope your okay! and the guy sitting in the chair did see her fall but probably couldnt see her still on the ground, the barrel is in the way.. he probably just thought she would get up...tords the end you do see him getting up and going over to help.
that horse tried really hard not to step on ya
Kind of strange video. The horse stepped on the rider somewhat and the guy in the chair just sort of sat there.
I'm really intrested in barrel racing now I'm kind of freaked out😕
Heather Conrad Conrad don't be stuff like this happens but gust have fun
agree with all that buti have showed western once and i dont think if you lean forward a little you wont place
the guy at the back doesn´t do anything. he just sits there while its happening.
I hope you are ok...
actually i have barrel raced i do both but i dont ride western as much anymore mostly english because its more of a challenge western is very easy laid back type or riding english is mor concentrated and harder
ya what is that guy doing??? thts really weird...
@9secflat
I know just sits there, like oh look at that . . . derp
The horses back foot caught its front.
So you are saying that barrel racing is stupid?
Um im still trying to figure out why that 1 guy is just sitting in that chair and not doing shit????
Ouch, Hope you are ok. The dude in the chair didn't even get up! What's up with that?
well hope your okay sorry that ride went so wrong but hope back up in the saddle. but at least the horse was tring to miss you. but i know it dont always happen take care be safe
I see the guy in the chair at the 2nd barrel never evens moves from the chair you'd a thought he would have come over to help.
Almost the same thing happened to me except that i was done with the run and my horse slid and i lost my balnce (i had lost my sturrip) and he stepped on me
i love how the dude sitting on that chair inthe back didnt do ahit he just sat there like wtf?!?! isnt he suppose too help if that happens

Omg, that was awful, poor thing i hope she was ok
omg, that looks like that would hurt SOOO bad, and yeah... whats up with thats guy just sitting there, by the wall???
if that horse respected her it should not have stepped on her five times.
On he first one watch how the guy by the timer just sits there and watches
@kaeso100 Yeah but still she was prob at a rodeo and wasnt thinking that she would get hurt but now i bet she wears a helmet
