Did Chris just do a 'Sound Like Dan Steinhardt' tone? Amazing!
Really, really loved the intro playing sequence. Amazing tone and amazing playing.
Sounding so good in this video. Love it. Like everything you touch, I want one.
Just read your Guitarist Magazine article today. Congratulations. Keep rising.
Great video, man. Awesome sounds.
Cheers
killer playing
Chris! Bro thanks for doing the preamp thing into IR!!! Sounds great!!
possibly my favourite guitarist ever, everything I'd give my right arm to play like you (oh, hang on that might not work!).
Excellent review
I liked the pre-amp setting with the tele right at the end best of all.
I got one of the first ones when the 1st, larger one came out last year! The Best!
Amazing Chris, you just sold me one ;-)... thank you!
great demo dan will be proud to be included
Great playing dude
What an amazing pedal. Can we have more metal on Friday Fretworks please. That was great ha ha
Just got mine a couple of days ago. It's magic on any flat sounding rig and the blend/eq allows it to perfectly enhance or boost your core sound. The feel of the pedal is amazing, it can prob make a FRFR speaker sound/feel good
Great review bro
Cheers Chris, lovely pedal, quite enough controls on it for me. :)
The Revival Drive compact sounds amazing. I also bought the RD HotRod compact, they are both incredible and what I was always searching for to complete my personal tone. Great review.
Bad ass tone man!
Badass!!!
Option paralysis is great expression that sums up my feelings exactly, that said this compact version looks a lot more useable than the dual model.
This might be the right pedal for me.
Ahh yes!
I have and love this pedal. Expensive yes, but it's exactly the pedal i think a lot of us are looking for.
I want to see another vid with your Revstar RS502T in Bowden green, baby
That tele is great played one recently, good choice. The 50s vintera non modified tele has a chunkier neck bigger than the 50s vintera non modified strat
Nice review - I've got the big version it emulates various amps and gets an amp driven tone of say a plexi or Fender twin out of your current gear, you can stack tube screamers, klon types into it to combo classic tones you hear. For me the big plus is the blend nob which let's you mix the origional signal in the output. Anyways Origin make class stuff
This is incredible. It’s propably the most amazing thing released this year. Every single demo showcases so much like an amp, more than any other thing on the market.
Bonus: seeing you sneak some Metallica in. Weird seeing you with that much gain going for that. Quite funny.
Actually, the second guy, Chris - Rabea Massaad beat you to it by about 8 hours! But, that said, loved the playing as always, and especially the homage to Dan Steinhardt. The pedal sounds really versatile - and I might actually have bought one if I hadn’t gone to Andertons on Tuesday & come away with a Gibson Les Paul Classic & a Snouse Black Box Overdrive 2 Stage Pro Mod pedal. So the wallet is feeling a little bruised just now. By the way, they Snouse purchase I’m blaming entirely on you! Awesome player, awesome pedal!
Much more like it,a very nice bit of kit. As ever, I prefer the lower gain settings, the 'Dan' being the standout for me. What I particularly liked was the Vintera 60's modified as this is the exact guitar that I have my sights on currently. So a feature on that sometime soon would be very welcome. Having said that, I've just picked up a lovely late 90's Epiphone Sheraton (Korean) in beautiful condition for a bloody song. It's gorgeous, I think we'll be pals for a very long time!
Wonderful to see you returning to The Cluny in March, is it right you're in the 'big' room? Can't wait! All the best mate.
Hey Chris, great job as usual. Love the Friday fretworks have you ever tried ethos overdrive. Probably more $$ than the revival. Made by custom tones llc. Supposed ro be a dumble type pedal. Wondering if you've ever played one would love to see your review of it.
hi great sound and video ;-) what was the setup? Cheers
Never thought I'd hear Chris play Master of Puppets
It does sound malleable. I’d sell a kidney to play like 6:47.
Rabea uses a tele too! Seems this pedal is a tele pedal! Nice playing as usual.
Does it tear your face off switching to the tele bridge pickup, using the Dan Steinhard setting?
is that some type of vintage submariner?
Should I sell Cali 76 CD now? :)
Great pedal. I wish only they could squeeze midboost in.
Chris, how does it compare to the Snouse? As an early adopter I feel a loyalty to the brand but this seems like a great pairing with a Fender amp for lots of versatility.
Maybe it’s a daft question (apples vs oranges) but low gain tones are my go to so interested in how it stacks up.
Hi Chris. Amazing demo. Sorry i just missed it somewhere in the video - but I'd like to know what your signal chain is. Are you running and amp, or directly into an interface? The sound you achieve at around 6:40 is just immensely good.
Great but really expensive!!
Wonderful...but I need Chris fingers more than the pedal...
For over £300 I would hope it's really good.
£300?! - Ouch! That’s going to leave a mark!
That's just where the market is going. As long as the gear wankers are willing to pay 500$ for a reverb pedal other manufacturers will follow. Cheap boss pedals are not cool anymore it's all about the status ib the guitar community.
Well, its basically a boutique NMV amp replacement in a std pedal size. Add the cost of a power amp and speaker cab (and/or cab sim). Yeah you can get digital modeling pedals for less that sound pretty convincing in a recording but do not feel convincing to play.
I actually wish they made a Dual version with this slightly more manageable level of control complexity. I'd love the two channels but, what held me back from purchase was lack of confidence that I could quickly dial it in if you were faced with a quick line-check/sound check situation and an unfamiliar backline amp..
Grant Ferstat I grabbed a used original at a really decent price. Trust me it’s not difficult to figure out. Took me just a few minutes and got it figured out. You can do it. It scares people off for some reason with the labels.
@@robertwellington2616 I've tried them. I know were it for dialing in with my rig it'd be no issue, But for the situation I'm describing where you're playing sets say across a weekend and one stage has an AC30, the next a Hot Rod Deville.. and you've got 20 minutes to get the whole band onstage. That's the concern for me. I think that the Dual channel version could be distilled down to this feature set without losing much versatility.
Just found your channel. Impressive. Nicely done. I play more metal style guitar. I use a boost or an 808 style overdrive pushing a already front of a first year 50 watt Marshall JCM800 with EL34's. A note anybody else driving the front end of your tube amp hard, brand or power not withstanding would be very happy with this pedal. I'm not impressed with the price. Ultimately your paying for the circuit.
The one thing that is missing is a lower price point.
Why? They’re clearly not for amateurs. This I studio/ live performance quality. You get what you pay for.
I dunno, I think Origin prices their stuff pretty fairly for the quality and capabilities. Everybody’s so friggin cheap. Bluh!
whats the song ur playing at 9:30. its similar to master of puppets but it sounds like another song ive heard before. is it a part that harmonizes with the main riff of master of puppets?
I hope you're kidding... In case you are not - war pigs
I'm probably gonna get /r/woooosh-ed but alright
War Pigs by Black Sabbath.
All the sound examples sounds damped...it´s strange. It´s like it the high frequency is cut out. Maybe something about the eq of the amp...
Yes I agree its a little dark....but the pedal itself is not. It's got plenty of brightness on tap and beautiful harmonic content. More than any other dirt pedal I own. Think jmp Marshall or ac30 and you're in its sweet spot.
verTasty ! thanks too much!
What's radio shop?
They make custom pickups, they made Chris Buck signature picks that you can buy
Derek Paul ok
Hi William - here's a link to their website; they do really good work - worth checking out. www.radioshoppickups.com
Why do I want it so bad when I clearly don’t need another overdrive? Also, £315 is extracting the urine - why the 15? Surely £300 would more than cover costs and profit margins?
Whitewallsessions Brexit causes devaluation of the GBP = prices has to increase to match the international currencies, e.g. Euro or USD.
Nice take on Metallica. Master of Muppets!
Um....is that Genesis Land of Confusion Reagan and Thatcher behind you by chance??
I can see the 'Spitting Image' Reagan and Thatch models, but I think the framed album is 'Synchronicity' by the Police.
@@LennyJohnson5 Spitting Image - that's right, thanks!! And yeah, Synchronicity FTW...
@@jeffreylane73 I realised what you meant by 'Genesis Land of Confusion' after I commented! I think the models were originally designed by Fluck and Law for the satirical TV show 'Spitting Image'. Please ignore the 'Synchronicity' comment! Too much gin, not enough crisps......
Umm... AC30's individual sound comes from NOT utilising negative feedback in it's power stage.
Right term, wrong way round innit... 😜
Ha! I said I didn't understand it! 😂 Thank you.
KozmykJ so should we call it positive feedback, in that case? ☺️
@@NuraliKushkov No. The design of the AC30, and similar amps, doesn't use a feedback loop.
Circuits that Do have them do so to increase linearity, stability and reduce distortions.
Great pedal but unfortunately costs too much for the weekend warriors.
You’d be better off picking up a second hand original!
Very true, but part of the problem with the original was the overall (and restrictive) size of it!
if these boutique pedal makers are going to build compact/affordable versions then price them at half the price of a fender HRD amp then they are missing huge swathes of marketshare - better marketing brains required at these brands.
At that price I’ll wait for the Chinese version
Loser.
