Please read the description.
NOTE - The Super 44 is the final product.
Stock start and revs, then start and revs with the Flowmaster Super 50 muffler, then start and revs with the Flowmaster Super 44 muffler - 2001 Ford Expedition 5.4L Triton V8.
I finally have upgraded the exhaust system on my Expedition. I upgraded to the Super 50 Muffler by Flowmaster and noticed less than a 10% change in sound and was unhappy with it. I went back and got a Super 44 ordered and installed today. I love the sound. It sounds great outside and is not too noisy inside. I am really happy with it..the video does not do it full justice. Thank you very much to DJ at Meineke Car Care in Chesterfield, Missouri. Please comment / like / subscribe and be sure to watch in HD!
Expeditions don't get nearly as much attention as they deserve. For being such a bohemith of a vehicle they get up and go and sound great
Yeah they do and if u dont pay attention you will find yourself speeding on the high way
I lived mine I had it had over 200 thousand on it and run like a champ i also currently have a 95 chevy g20 3/4 ton van with a 5.7 that will blow my f250 away
My Dad use to have one and I loved it
This is hands down my favorite generation of Expys. They started to tuck nuts after this
@@JA-no1qk Yessir I have a 00' and it's the tallest year for the expedition. It sits inches higher than newer ones.
@staffy73 Thanks! Glad I could help...this was filmed in 20ish degree weather..now that it has been warmer, it sounds a hell of a lot better. Much deeper tones...I absolutely love it. Highly recommended.
Best way to get sound in the expedition is to remove the four catalytic converters and put either the super 44 fm or the super 10
Exactly what I did lol
I live in California and I surely we’ll not pass smog. Lol
Agreed super 10 all the way
Great comparison video.Just put in a Flowmaster 40 Series in 03 Expedition 4.6 xlt and sounds awesome. I was originally gonna get a 50 series, but the shop only had the 40, and I am thankful that I opted for that instead. I recommend 40 or 44 as well. Outside sounds low, cruising at constant speed on expressway is quiet on the interior, and you will feel like a beast is behind you when you floor it.
How is the interior drone on highway at 65-70 mph?
I very much recommend the Super 44. There was some drone inside, but not bad at all. Highway cruising was good, and it sounded amazing when you stomp on it. You should not be bothered by the noise inside at all with the 44. Good luck!
let me guess, you left the resonators on the system didn't you?
One of my family's old trucks we don't have any more. Ours was black. Once took it out on a road trip to Oregon from Florida back in '05.
Great video and audio It is nice to hear all three in the same video.
@qwertas1243 Yessir. It is called a resonator. Basically it dampens the sound. I didn't remove it because I thought it would affect emissions and also didn't want it to be too loud. I am still playing with the idea of removing it, but have not yet. I talked to the muffler shop, and it will not affect emissions, so no harm is done. If you are considering the Super 44, I highly recommend it. I love mine more and more every day. If you get it, post vids and let me know! I'd love to see.
This video is old af but thanks for posting. I'm trying to decide between the super 50 and super 44 on my 2000 f150 with the 5.4 engine. Super 50 sounds like the answer for me.
I have a 04 Expo and I had to take off two catylatic converters and resonator to make it sound good. I'm not sure what your year has but I had four cats on there from the factory, a little over kill if you ask me.
hate to bust your bubble but the 50 Series and the super 44 sound super quiet on your Expedition. it could be because you still have your stock piping behind it and in front of it. I do know those 5.4 liter Triton's have 4 catalytic converters on them. two on each side the first two being the biggest back to being the smallest. that right there is a sound killer
the Flowmaster super 44 sounds great it has a nice deep rumble tone to it flowmaster super 44 is the way to good
just got a super 44 for my caddilac and i fucking love it
@Fordfanforlife777 I noticed VERY little difference and was quite unhappy. That being said, this model year Expedition has a ridiculous amount of catalytic converters that dampen the sound, so unless you are putting the 50 series on an Expedition, it supposedly sounds excellent. I am extremely happy with the Super 44 on my truck though
@rudedogii Thanks! I don't own a shop haha they just treated me very well and replaced the Super 50 when I didn't like it right after it was installed. Yours sounds pretty good too..watched the vid of it.
@a7xbass94 thanks! and ya, i found a super 44 for a good price. thanks for the speedy response
I would replace the exhaust manifolds with headers, run 2 pipes into 2 cats and into 2 super 44s and have duals out the back
Love the comparison you did a great job, would love to hear what it would sound like with the super 10 though.
Excellent review. I can certainly tell the difference. I like the 50 the best. I have a 97 F350, 7.5L with only 30K original miles. It has a series 40 on it and it is absolutely quiet. I don't know what the deal is, since everyone says they are loud. I guess it really comes down to the vehicle.
I cant tell the difference between any of them. They all sound stock
True lol
thank you for being honest...mine is the same! I went from stock to magnaflow 24" to flowmaster 40, to flowmaster super 10, to magnaflow 14"....they all sound the same, just different amount of drone at 1,800rpm....anything above 2,200 rpm sounds stock.
I agree
raftguide72 exactly ! That’s why i just went straight pipe
patelbv you must change the pipes to true duals. Get rid of factory wye
I'm getting Super 44's for my F-150 pretty soon.
@peterrngl3 Yes. Resonator is still on. Only changes during this video was stock --> super 50 --> super 44 muffler.
You can't break in a chambered muffler. That only works with glasspacks and mufflers like magnaflows that have actual packing to wear down. There's nothing to break down in a flowmaster. Any chance of the flowmaster sounding better is purely imaginative or your cats are needing to be replaced.
Excellent choice! Can't go wrong there.
That thing sounds beautiful with or without aftermarket exhaust
Hell yeah. I have a 2000 ford expedition with 141,101 miles on it
My '02 is bulletproof and can climb a tree. 112,000 miles and haven't had one significant thing go wrong with it, ever. I love these trucks, and I was a Chevy guy. Just wish it got better mileage.
A7xbass94 u totally made my mind up for me. FM Super44 it is . That friggin sounds means as all hell.
@leo12345641 Completely agreed with this. This was filmed the night I got it installed..it sounded absolutely phenomenal about a month after and kept sounding better and better. By the time I got rid of the truck, it was quite loud. It is a great muffler.
Sounds good but still haven't found something quieter for my truck 4.8 silverado longtube headers and super 10 flowmaster
@leo12345641 The difference is that your Tahoe does not have the ridiculous amount of Catalytic Converters that my Expedition had and it probably didn't have the resonator, so the Super 44 on your Tahoe probably sounds a lot louder and more aggressive.
The reason you don't hear much difference is this vehicle has whats called aresonator right before the tailpipe it makes it waaaayyyy quieter...
how do u take it off
+BIGGZ PHOTOZ Scissors
The resonator hardly quiets the sound. It's the 4 factory cats that make it quiet. Cut 2 out and it'll be a lot louder.
@shinnaraku2 Sorry, but I do not know enough about the mufflers to weigh in on this. If you have the same year and model truck that I had, it is definitely going to be quiet because this year / model had an excessive amount of Cats to keep emissions legal and it also made it much quieter.
Hey dude nice! I'm jealous! What do own a muffler shop? I just went from a Flowmaster 40 Series to a Hushpower, Sounded like crap. Now I got a Flowmaster Super 44 with 3inch inlet with two 2 1/2 inch outlets and still sounds like crap!
Cuz all flowmaster mufflers sounds like shit on a stock modern vehicle.
All sounded the same plus you never gave chance to hear while idle... you kept gunning it...
Nice one man!
I have the same 2001 5.4 Expedition and want to ask you - how did you install it? Stock muffler the way longer than Super 44 series...thank you!
@Fordfanforlife777 Haha I am more than content with my Expedition. I think that since you have an older truck, the Super 50 should be excellent for you..great outside sound with lower interior resonance..the Super 44s were described as very aggressive tone and loud interior resonance..the Super 50, moderate exterior, mild interior. I think you will be happy with the 50
Im guesing this is your car? Nice V8 sound!
@a7xbass94 no prob...i get my license at the beginning of march....my dads getting a tuned 350z im so jealous...
Change the tail pipe set up to get the difference
WOW that sounds really nice!!! do I see a flame just after 0:59?!
@06TurboVtec Thanks! It seemed that the muffler sounded better with time..by the time I got rid of this truck, it sounded a lot better. But yeah, this year expedition had a resonator and 4 cats which greatly dampened the sound. What year is yours?
Super 44 sound the best it gave a better roar I'm about to Swap to the Super 44 Delta which are louder
im guessing ull be knowledgable on this, so, heres my question. so my expedition is a 2001 eddie buaer with a 5.4l triton v8. i see the catylitic converter, and the muffler, but theres also a smaller, muffler-ish can at the very end of the tail pipe, about a foot before the actual end of the pipe. u can see it in your video, with the first 2 exhaust systems. i was wondering if u knew what that was.
thanks and did you have to weld it?
YOU GUYS JUST HAVE TO WAIT TILL IT GETS CRACKED IN,GIVE IT ABOUT A WEEK U WILL SE AND FEEL THE DIFFERENCE,TRUST ME!
@Mig4512 Yessir. Thanks!
Is that a center in and center out?
Oh, and if you are considering this, this video does the sound no justice. Once the muffler is 'broken in', it sounds excellent. If you are really interested, I can make another video soon.
What rpm did you rev it to ?, I have the 4.6, and from I have seen in a video iys rpm limiter is 5500.
Excellent video, subtle difference but there's not supposed to be
Nice, how much were they?
@qwertas1243 Awesome. They are quite affordable. Please post a vid and let me know once youve got it! I'd be interested to see it especially if you get the resonator removed
i like super 44 the best
Say man, how did you install the super 44 muffler on your 1999 tahoe . i have the exact same tahoe mine is 1999 LT 4x4. And they told me at my local exhaust shop that they wouldnt be able to install it because my tahoe has (double in single out) and that flowmaster did not make a super 44 muffler double in single out so they couldn't do it. Plz tell me.
@ghettocodmaster555 Thanks man. And nope haha just exhaust. It has been in the low 30s all week
i have a ford expedition 2000 5.4L Triton I want the muffler to have that Low Rumble sound and aggressive when i reb the engine, witch one do you recommend, i also dont want it to be to noisy inside ? Help
CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME IF FLOWMASTER ARE BETTER THAN STOCK MUFFLERS I GOT A MUSTANG GT 2002 IS IT WORTH THE PRICE?
miriam raul yes yes yes
@a7xbass94 sure thing
THIS SUPER 44 MUFFLER IS FOR SALE - Contact me for details.
Did you have to weld it?
Hey guys.. If anyone can help me/give me a little insight it would be much appreciated!!! I have a Lincoln Aviator AWD with a 4.6L 32-Valve DOHC V8. I currently have a FlowMaster 40 Series on it and it's WAY too loud. I mean, it sounds VERY powerful, but just much too overpowering. Especially for occupants in the 2nd/3rd rows!!! Would a Super 50 Series, or a Super 44 eliminate the problem with all the noise from the 40 series, yet still sound mean, and better than the stock muffler??
Yeah it's nice to hear the same sound on all 3 clips! Lol get some super 10's and cut that pipe off! Then you'll get a monstrous sound!
hey am looking too get the loudest what size should i put on my expedition
Anyone else get anxiety from someone revving a stock exhaust for no reason it seems like
Sounds the exact same way as your stock 😂
***** I wouldn't take those crusty ass tips on though and put some shiny chrome ones on
Witness Miami would have*
i have one of these bout for 600 fkn steal
Didn't sound any different than stock. Put a magnaflow 12388 on that puppy and she'll growl.
SORRY TO SAY BUT THIS EXPEDITION SOUNDS HORRIBLE,MAYBE BECAUSE IT DOESNT HAVE AS MUCH POWER AS MY 1999 CHEVY TAHOE 4X4, I HAVE THAT SAME SUPER 44 AND IT MAKES ALL CAR ALARMS GO OFF WEN I RIDE IT DOWN THE STREET. NICE TRUCK THO.
@a7xbass94 haha hopefully ill get to drive it
sounds the exact same
um did you forget the rear muffler lmao
Why does sound so poop on the expeditions? My v6 4runner with a super 50 sounds better
Huh?
@Mig4512 ...steal it from him...
The 44 series sounds better
they all sound the same lol
класс! последнее.
I'm good, how are you?
He said: "Cool! The last one"
I'm going to change the muffler on my Lincoln Nav 2004, but still cannot figure out which configuration to request. Because I'm far away fm US, o I need to measure and request some precisied item. Because, even some intermidiate pipes of 3" is pretty hard to find here
40 s
;All 3 of the mufflers didn't sound good at all.
A total waste of $$$ if you were going for a different sound....
scrap resinator
Does not sound good
@qwertas1243 Awesome. They are quite affordable. Please post a vid and let me know once youve got it! I'd be interested to see it especially if you get the resonator removed
