I hate when morons use the word underrated. Good hell. sweet hasn't done anything in 40 years. They aren't relevant but they were NEVER underrated. Good hell
BC’s voice sadly had gone by the time this video was made. They were great before. Desolation Boulevard was their best album and has a fantastic drum solo on it in which Mick duets with himself on a silver screen ( on timpani)
Rock classics ! I don’t think so . Rock classics begin with Like A Rolling Stone or anything by C C R or the Beatles, the Stones, the Byrds . Never the Sweet
The 'Hell Raiser' track really shows just how amazing this group were.....they were incredibly underrated. Imagine them doing Wembley now......they would bring the entire house down. For my money they were the best British rock group ever. Period.

Mick Tucker is one the best drummers of all times, Andy Scott is a master lead guitarist, Steve Priest is a cool bass player and Brian Connelly was one of the best singers of his day. The first 45 I bought was The Ballroom Blitz and then Fox on the Run. I never saw who the Sweet were until a month or so ago and I'm blown away!! Unbelievable talent. I love them all.....great songs....great looking too!!
I love all kinds of music I'm not going to say their the greatest band's ever but Brian and Mick are right up there with what they do. And its just turned 2020 and im still listen to them so i rate them right up there and i agree they didn't get the credit they deserved.
I’m 65 and French. SWEET was my favorite glam rock band between 1970 and 1976. Fanny Adams and Desolation Boulevard really amazing LP Album Music. Always in my head. Forever ❤️🤘🎤🎸🥁🎼
Sanctum Sanctorum If they’re elite pompous aristocrats they actually ARE privileged, they’re not acting it. If you’re going to dish out insults at least do it logically. Ok, man of the people?
The Sweet's story indeed was a sad one ...a band that should have done so much more, a band that was never recognised in the UK for their musicianship and vocal quality. A band who should have all remained mates but didn't...a band that crashed and burned too early. And sadly two members who tragically died so young.
rael1999 sweet was my heros when I was young. my first love was Brian. you are right. a sad story. Brian was broken. so many people loved him. only his mother did not want to know anything about him. the insidious attack of 1974. He started drinking. alcohol distroyed him. alcoholism is sickness. Brian was ill. He was sick and lonley. Mick has unfortunaley got leukemia. that is sad. the music lives on. RiP Brian and Mick. you are not forgotten. sorry my bad english
I loved the Sweet as a young girl and I still love them. They are by far one on the best bands I've ever heard. A style all their own!! I never saw who the Sweet were as people until recently and I was so sad to learn of Brian and Mick's passing. They live on through their music and I believe they are in heaven entertaining the angels with their great talent!!! RIP Brian and Mick!!!!
Love These Sweet Guys 😍❤️❤️❤️❤️ They are all Amazin 🤩 back in early 70's i was very Little wen these Guys came on the scene ,so i had'nt really heard of them till most likely the 80's wen i see em on a TOTP Two episode and i then was Hooked ❤ So have few Of their records [singles ] and few Cd albums too. Sad😢 these guys passed 💔 RiP Brian 🎤🤍🕯🤍 Mick🥁🤍🕯🤍 Steve🎸🤍🕯🤍 Their memories will live on through their Amazin music 🎶and their outstandin performances .❤ So Only 1 original left Andy Scott ❤️ he has a Brill voice too🎤❤ i often watch them on utube . . Very entertaining , i love all their songs, aside from their Amazin classics, i recently came across several others that i had'nt heard before n now i love.🎶❤️
What stands out in this documentary is that the Sweet, unlike other musical acts of any era, didn't develop an "I'm holier than thou" attitude as a result from their success. Mick clearly said that the band owed their success to their fans who bought their records, "otherwise we wouldn't be here." I've seen videos of the Sweet performing in concert and it was obvious that they wanted to ensure that their fans were enjoying themselves--e.g. they'd get them to sing with them, like: Sweet: "Little Willy Willy won't..." Fans: "go home." I've been to shows where the musical act could care less about the audience and I'd think, "Well he/she seemed to forget who paid to listen to him/her perform." Musically, the Sweet utilized different techniques, I'm speaking about this as a musician. Among what was characteristic of their musical style included their vocal harmonies, sometimes arpeggiated towards Andy's falsetto, Brian's vocal range and versatility as a lead singer and \ Steve's ability to not only be a lead singer but provide his famous "cameo" since "Wig Wag Bam." If I'm not mistaken, all four band members have taken the role as lead singer. Instrumentally, they also made use of arpeggios--best example is the "Fox on the Run" riff--and "call and response"--"Rebel Rouser," as heard in the exchange, "Who is the face that's gonna set the pace?/I'm a rocker, I'm a roller, I'm an outer space" among other musical techniques. OK you're probably bored by all this...I'm saying this from a musician's point of view because I really believe that the Sweet didn't get the full credit that they deserved. When I was introduced to them, I thought that I found "auditory gold."
I mean it might be because they didn’t get that much success tho. There’s a reason everyone says they were underrated, because they were. Its always the people closer to the bottom of the chain who are much closer to reality.
So very true. I saw many concerts in my lifetime. I remember being soooo excited to see The Cars in the 80s. What a sad reality. They sang for maybe a bit over an hour and never uttered a word to the audience, never tried any sort of audience participation etc. It was painful and robotic. Great music, shitty people. Not long ago when singer Rik Ocasek died, it wasn't any shock to me that he left his ex-wife penniless, even though they were still friendly and she stayed with him to nurse him until the disease finally killed him. She had to borrow money for food and he had no one else close to him in life. Apparently, he was a true jerk. Also, Ted Nugent was trash. I was fourth row and all he did was scream and hit on all the girls down front. What he sounded like on records wasn't obvious in concert. Blackfoot opened and they blew him away. My most favorite surprise was Genesis. Free tickets and I definitely did not want to go. Exceedingly great experience. Phil Collins was a hella showman and vocalist, drummer too. Sat front row for Styx in their early 80s prime. THAT was amazing
Qué emocion me provoca verlos hablar, no solo cantar.
The Sweet, my favorite group of youth, great themes that I will not forget as long as I live. Mick Tucker one of the best, for me the best! his performance in London with the song Hellraiser is awesome! Brian Connoly Mick Tucker forever in the memory.
The little boy at 0.57 is hilarious ! I wonder if he's still around and has seen this ? Was there ever anyone who was enjoying himself so much in the history of the universe ? Bless him !
My guess is that live footage is from 1974. I was barely older than that kid at the time, and it makes me jealous as fuck to see that, haha! I wish so badly I could have seen them back then. I would have been losing my shit just like he was.
Like technology? Visit here! I agree! I tried to turn my nephew on to them but he wouldn’t have any of it! His loss cause today’s music doesn’t hold a candle except very very rarely!
The first band I ever saw live; my mum taking me at age 11. This started me off on a love for rock, and glam, AOR and melodic rock in particular ever since; travelling all over the world to see most of the bands in these genres over the last 50 years. Will be seeing The Sweet for only the second time ever later this year.
I was a Slade fan, and my best friend was a Sweet fan back then. Plenty of banter but I really liked Sweet too - couldn't admit it of course! Great band and RIP Steve, Brian and Mick
I agree with Poot Daggy here. To me, Sweet were very much in-step with the times that they were at peak popularity in (ie. 1973-1976). They pretty much DEFINED those times. It’s not a bad thing either. Those were great times! Their music still holds up well even today, but it’s very much a thing of the 70’s. They definitely influenced a lot of bands that came later, but I don’t think I’d say they were ‘ahead’ of their time. They just summed up their time much better than most other bands from the same era. The music still sounds fresh and exciting.
Viper GTS I have to agree with you! They weren’t just a fun band, they could really jam with the best of them! Many bands of this era were bubble gum! Many thought they were too. But when they really started doing their own tunes more and more it proved they were more than a simpleton type band! If they came out in the nineties they would have still produced top hits! Way way ahead of their time!!!
Danke Brian ! Ruhe in Frieden !!!!
Was a big Sweet fan as a young man growing up. Hell I'm still a big fan. Nice to see Andy's doing ok. Sweet has had its share of tragedy. As most bands. I partied like a maniac , and I wasn't a big star of any kind. Drugs was easy to get back in the 70's , mainly coke and B.I. 62 , the strongest diet pill on the shelf back then. And drank like a fish. Wonder I didn't end up like Brian. I'm rambling now as I look back. Sweet was a hell of a band , and all 4 could have been a lead singer in any other band. RIP Steve , Mick and Brian.
Really underrated band, and very talented and had a lot of potential to go further than they did! If I could go back in time, they would be one band I would definitely see live!❤

The first 45 I bought was The Ballroom Blitz and then Fox on the Run. I never saw who the Sweet were until a month or so ago and I'm blown away!! Unbelievable talent. I love them all.....great songs....great looking too!!
Oh me too!! ♡♡♡♡
I love all kinds of music I'm not going to say their the greatest band's ever but Brian and Mick are right up there with what they do. And its just turned 2020 and im still listen to them so i rate them right up there and i agree they didn't get the credit they deserved.
Fantastic Band! True Rock Stars!!!! Love this Band!!!
I’m 65 and French.
SWEET was my favorite glam rock band between 1970 and 1976.
Fanny Adams and Desolation Boulevard really amazing LP Album Music.
Always in my head.
Forever ❤️🤘🎤🎸🥁🎼
I like how in the first scene as they exit the car, they all thank the driver politely. Says a lot about their character.
Young people were still raised with and used good manners, in those days.
@inside outside upside downside Me too!
Sanctum Sanctorum If they’re elite pompous aristocrats they actually ARE privileged, they’re not acting it. If you’re going to dish out insults at least do it logically. Ok, man of the people?
Gregg Vandenbosch I love Sweet but they were actually known as a difficult band
no just the time
The Sweet's story indeed was a sad one ...a band that should have done so much more, a band that was never recognised in the UK for their musicianship and vocal quality.
They lasted more than 10 years - but like most bands didn't get the credit they deserved.
That's about the most precise description of this band. Makes me so very sad. They could have been so much bigger!
that about sums it up totally
So underrated it's unbelievable! As a drummer I can say Mick Tucker was way ahead in so many ways-the most underrated drummer of all time.
They’re before my time, but hands down the best band ever, absolutely the most underrated band in history, every song should have been a number 1 hit
Absolutely brilliant!!! Heartbreakers..
*Hell raisers

i often watch them on utube .
GlamGal 710 :
I’m not getting bored. Info like that broadens my understanding why I did , and still , like their music so much. Thx.
Batphink Reynolds Thanks very much!
I mean it might be because they didn’t get that much success tho. There’s a reason everyone says they were underrated, because they were. Its always the people closer to the bottom of the chain who are much closer to reality.
Agree with you 💯✌️👍
So very true.
One of my very favourite rock bands ever...all their songs are great classics
Qué emocion me provoca verlos hablar, no solo cantar.
been listening to the same sweet songs for 40 something years.
there's just something special about this band.
This group never got the recognition they deserved.
Мне 61 а люблю Sweet с 1976
I don't know how often I have looked at this documentation! Very often and I have a look at it again. Magnificent!
Me too - Brian getting his rollers put in - a sight for sore eyes lol!
Well,well,well!! Lookie here,lookie here,it`s the GLAM-Sisters!! Ellen & Helen....Glam it up,girls!! ;-D
This band was also great live, talented rock musicians, best glam rock band ever
That was me at 6 in 1972 when I discovered the song Little Willy! Still love that song, just can’t move that fast anymore!!
sarah butterworth I can still move that fast when I am dreaming!
sarah butterworth are you really mrs. Butterworth?
Like technology? Visit here! I agree! I tried to turn my nephew on to them but he wouldn’t have any of it! His loss cause today’s music doesn’t hold a candle except very very rarely!
One of their best songs was / is “you’re not wrong for loving me” - bloody awesome harmonies! 😎
what a band and what a legacy!!! LOOK ouuuuut!
I LOVE IT sooooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sweet forever ❤
The first band I ever saw live; my mum taking me at age 11. This started me off on a love for rock, and glam, AOR and melodic rock in particular ever since; travelling all over the world to see most of the bands in these genres over the last 50 years. Will be seeing The Sweet for only the second time ever later this year.
Hell Raiser ... at 16.00 ... they nailed it. Great live performance.
fiery1962 hell yeah!!
What a lovely bunch of blokes. Just normal, fun and down to Earth. . . not a lot of that these days x
Normal but also talented, making them special. "There 's no other band like us" said Andy; a very good title for the new book about Sweet.
Agreed x
They definitely seemed fun to hang out with, lol
Mindy Hammonds Yeah they didn't have their heads up their arses x
The loss of Brian Connolly is big as it was deeply in love with him as a teenager. Love devouring them.
I love this documentary. My sweetest memories ever
Have you ever seen them live?
I was a Slade fan, and my best friend was a Sweet fan back then. Plenty of banter but I really liked Sweet too - couldn't admit it of course! Great band and RIP Steve, Brian and Mick
Same here, it's taken me until 2020 to listen to Sweet beyond their glam hits and a couple of B sides. Loving it!
Sweet was WAY ahead of their time.
So fucking good!!!!
I think they were just men OF their time. Not ahead but dead in the middle it.
Well there's the understatment of the century!
SWEET -the best ever!
Danke Brian ! Ruhe in Frieden !!!!
Sweet ,wundervoll in ihren besten Zeiten !! Danke Brian ,Mick ,Andy & Steve !!!!!
Mir geht's genauso!
Me mates and I listen to them back at Oxford...Connecticut. They still kick bum!
Russell Tuckett esq.
