He understands the pain of losing a spouse, so he knows he can never replace derek. He has kids of his own, so he's probably not interested in any more kids of his own. He's also her equal in every way, dosn't worship the ground she walks on, and she can talk to him about stuff she can't talk to Deluca about. She has had doubts about Deluca and their relationship. He's Cristina approved, and they have chemistry. They should have just kept her and Deluca a fling or fwb. amelia and Link can then find their own place, and Maggie can find a nice appartment. Deluca is nice, but not for Mer. And not for Jo either. Deluca is young, attractive, a surgeon, and not held back by past trauma. He can esaily find somebody else. WOW. I quit the show in the middle of last season because the storylines were just stressing me out so much, so I’ve missed most of their dynamic, but wow. This is the closest I’ve come to wanting to watch the show again since quitting. (Probably will just continue to watch vicariously through editors like you, though, because I can’t handle watching them deal with pandemic stress in addition to emotional stress.)

For some reason, I have liked every person she has had a relationship with. Typically in shows, I am very picky, but with the exception of George lol everyone she has been with it works.

I really like her and Hayes and I hope they get together so badly. I like their cute firty banter as well as the fact that he understands her because they have been through the same situation. I haven't shipped Merdith with anyone since Derek died except for the one guy Thorpe who she slept with during like the dream team episode and then she freaked out about him (he said she was special and he would wait for her and Im upset they didn't bring him back). Otherwise i love the cute flirty banter she has with Hayes and I hope they get together the season
TBH, I didn't like Mer with Deluca because they couldn't relate but Mer and Hayes have this attraction that draws them together with their loss and having kids.
