I always felt that HEALTH's more recent work echoed a lot of that aesthetic that NIN was going for in the 90's and this track is the crowning jewel

Been listening to NIN for 20 years, HEALTH for a decade. This is like seeing two friends you’ve known for years meet for the first time.

It was nice to see Trent return to making a dark, grungy song. Ever since he got sober he got very self conscious about the music he was making and how old he was getting. Did he want to keep making moody angst songs into his middle age and with a significantly more healthy personal life? It led to him veering off in all sorts of directions for Nine Inch Nails, his side project HTDA and his current main job as a composer. Kudos to HEALTH - a younger group of musicians going to him like: "The music you made isn't out of style. You were just way ahead of your time and influenced a whole wave of artists. Come and make some angsty music and lets have some fun."
In interviews, Trent used to fear that his only contributions to music was him being the influence to dozens of third rate industrial metal bands that aped him. HEALTH disproved this fear.
Clicked on this for NIN, but god damn, how have I never heard HEALTH until now? Guess I better go through their entire catalogue and study it as if it'll be on the final.

Why hasn’t health gotten more attention they are so underrated!
They are going to get a lot of attention from DISCO II. I didn't know who they were until just before covid, and that was only because they played with Daughters. I've really become a fan of them progressively since then. At first, I didn't really like it but it kind of grows on you.
Sexy track, I've just became very intrigued by this 'health.'
Is it just me or is it that everything Trent Reznor touches feels current and on topic more and more. He's either a harbinger of doom or a visionary that can write tuneful prophecies.
I'm sure I would've heard of them because of this collaboration but I had never heard them until I played Cyberpunk 2077. I hate that it took me so long to find them, because their music is phenomenal.

I’ve been listening to NIN for 20 years. The fact he continues to collab and create and grace us with new shit yearly shows he’s a musical genius that will never burn or sell out. I’m so lucky to exist at the same time as these artists.

HEALTH has been filling the dark synth vibe that Nine Inch Nails hasn’t really been able to satisfy for me with the last few albums. The recent Ghosts albums are great study ambiance and Hesitation Marks had a couple good tracks, but I’ve missed old NIN. It’s great to know that Trent and Atticus still have it in them. Hopefully they bring this energy for the next album. Also I know it’s way too optimistic but HEALTH and NIN have known each other for a while, if they made an album or even an EP together I would fucking lose it. I’d buy the deluxe vinyl without a second thought.
It's amazing how rare it is to get quite literally "the best of both worlds", but holy shit this is it, the amount of synergy these guys have, its basically hand in glove.
Now we need a NIN vs Perturbator and I can die happy

That's what I like about Trent Reznor, he doesn't always make stuff that connects because it's all raw emotionally. You might feel different on a day by day basis. Let's face it, things have been sh**ty, Country corrupt all to hell and back. It's hard to find media that fits how we all feel, or is powerful enough to change negativity into positivity. But if you keep listening. Trent Reznor has you covered.
NIN fan since the beginning. I owe Trent my life (Downward Spiral helped me through a dark time because I felt I wasn’t alone). The last 3 EPS were nice, but it felt less focused vs previous work. This is the NIN I miss. Tears of happiness and goosebumps... this is the NIN I miss. Hoping he tours down to Fort Lauderdale so my daughter’s first concert can also be like mine (94 Downward Spiral tour w/ Jim Rose Circus + new band Marilyn Manson). NIN is truly something I want to share with her. I know if she sees it live, she’ll feel it.
My first NIN show was 95 w/Prick and Bowie. I also would LOVE to take my oldest daughter to a NIN show. Full circle.

I’m with ya too that there won’t be another TDS and Fragile but have something cool like With Teeth but something entirely differently like all the others are to each other. HEALTH is as meaninful to me in so many ways as Trent Reznor-Atticus Ross/NIN is, their style and the style on the industrial/electro genre music is just as beautiful in so many ways. respect to both artist bands for this phenomenal track as 1

Cool to clearly hear Reznor's voice. NIN is working on a new album, and hopefully it'll be more aggressive, have plenty of melody, distorted guitars, drums and showcase his voice more clearly compared to some recent NIN tracks.

I hopped in the car the other day and [STREAMING SERVICE OF CHOICE] suggested this song. I've been a fan of HEALTH for a few years now, but I didn't even know NIN was involved until I saw the cover art. Never thought I'd experience that feeling again. I had a huge grin on my face the whole time. These two artists bring out the best in each other.

Yeah man, Slaves of Fear album was it for me! I thought it came out right now, so amazingly relevant. The themes of their newer stuff and Year Zero go right together. I left nyc in March last year, I think there's some kind of post traumatic stress watching a place with millions of people 24/7 like Midtown empty out like a bad movie. I definitely needed some music like this track and HEALTH in general. Ghosts VI: Locusts is amazing too, I just wasn't on that wavelength when it came out. I miss his lyricism usually with Ghosts and most of the soundtracks. Anyhow, take care my fellow NIN fan!
This is just so good... It's like getting an unsuspected visit from a old, dear friend that you haven't seen for ages. I'm a fan for almost 20 years now, and I love pretty much everything that NIN does, but suffice it to say, I really, really missed this Trent.

Oh, Trent, there you are :') I thought we had lost you (although I liked the new version, he wasn't *our* little piggy.) Head phones on max, hours of time and my teenage thoughts, blown away, transfixed by his lyrics and dirty synth. I got "NIN" tattooed at 18 years old. He helped me back then and he helps me now, at 30 years old. Still donning the "repeat" but on my tablet and phone instead of my hi-fi stereo.

This track is like a future retro time capsule ffs. It's like a lost track from the mid/late 90s brought into the future with a musical time machine. I can't help but see this being like a modern remix of one of those contemporary tracks on the soundtrack to Spawn, Escape From L.A., etc. This is too good, this is gonna be repeat for a while...

HEALTH has come a long why since I saw them open for NIN in 2008.
they get better and better. it’s an interesting progression. it’s usually the opposite.
Was that the lights in the sky tour promoting the slip...which had the insane production and visuals?
@@protectourfreedom8221 It just afterwards, on the Wave Goodbye tour, in a stripped down club setting. So I guess it was 2009. *checks dates* Yeah, 09-06-2009 (at Echoplex).
@@skinlayers I remember those shows. They were at like 4 small venues around L.A. and touted as nin final shows. I went to the Wiltern show. 3+ hour set. Totally stripped down and complete opposite of LITS. Just the band, some flickering lights and the music. They released like 100 tickets on the night of the show and I fortunately got in. $60 ticket. Completely epic and special night. Even the ticket stub was like a collector's item as it adorned the nin logo as a stamped seal of sorts.
@@protectourfreedom8221 I got tickets to 3 of the 4 LA shows. :) The Wiltern was still the most epic NIN show I've ever seen! It was the perfect counter point to the Lights In The Sky tour.

The video really reminds me of NIN's stage production from the Tension tour. It's like Trent still has all of those screens and transparent light curtains in his garage and they dug it out to make this video.

NIN is one of the greatest. Haven't been hip to HEALTH until this song sadly... but omg brilliant! Instant fan of HEALTH
Piano / Synths at about 3'57'' makes this even higher progressively. Perfect song. Magical emotional mixture.
