This was such a great tutorial. You’ve got 197k views, and roughly 30k of them were me going back to reference how you did it again and again as I built mine into my closet. I just finished, and it turned out great, thanks to your expert camera work and explanations.
Probably one of your best edits I think. You did a great job on this...and this type of build is not easy to shoot and put together. The baffle behind the cutout handles is a great idea! This looks fantastic, Michael!
Great build! That dark blue paint color for the room, though...reminds me of old-time "Air Force blue"--this was used on building interiors and on vehicles.
Sweet! I've changed a bedroom into a library, it has two closets and eventually one of them will have to have a bed like this. Glad you did it first. My room is a similar color, I think it was Valspar Classic Teal.
Awesome build! Love what you did with the extra space with the shelves and how you made the handles! Will definitely be implementing it into my build and design! 💯🔥🔥🔥
Looks really good. Definitely inspired me to do something similar. I can’t help feeling tho that the 10 inches of space behind the bed could have been better utilised tho. Maybe as a place to store a duvet.
Thanks for this video. Love the color scheme of plywood and that deep blue walls. Also, your friend have got cool looking flooring! Never saw this before.
Thank you! Yeah, the building is from the 60's and it has some cool touches. The oak floor technique is called parquet, which has fallen out of style, but it does look good in that space. The cool thing is the building manager has a bunch of extra tiles, so they are able to swap ones out if the ever get damaged.
@@MichaelAlm Wow! Thanks for reply! Actually, here in Russia parquet flooring is pretty much only kind of real wood flooring you can get. It was allways quite popular and even in small and cheap appartment you can stamble upon nice herringbone pattern parquet. About 15-20 years ago rich russian folks were paying incredible amounts of money for crazy looking custom floors. But now this trend is dying and there is only couple of parquet shops left in my town. But those square once in the video looks so cool and idea to keep spare tiles deserves apritiation.
Missed opportunity for a Doctor Who overlay in post. lol! Maybe Rockler wouldn't have liked that??? Also I'm a low voltage electrician, and that closet is an example of what "FREE" installs look like. You did awesome job with the space you had to work with, two videos in a row!
Very nice build. We did a lot of research before we chose on the bed that we built but I have never seen one built inside of a closet. That is a brilliant idea. Great execution too!
I like the use of foam insulation on your saw bench. It may be more expensive than plywood, but appears much easier to move and replace. And easier on your blades I would think.
I would make bedding and pillow storage in the cavity behind the headboard. Drop it in by lifting the ledge flap. But I would limit the drop inside. But love it !!
That’s a great solution for our extra bedroom that has been slowly changing to my wife’s craft room. As more items get added there is less and less space for a bed. Guessing that kit isn’t cheap tho
Thanks Shaun! Yeah, it's definitely a different game when you have to build on site. I think the track saw is clutch. Also, if they hadn't had shopping carts there, I swear it would've taken an extra day 😅
Levi Soriano hahaha! Thanks Levi! Yeah that smile is genuine. With that closet so out of square, I had no idea what would happen when the frame went up
I wish you lived near me in California!!! I want to do this to our closet/guest room!!!! I LOVE how every piece is so neatly fitted!!! Such a great job!!!!!! (not enough exclamation marks)!!! :)
I am going to try to build one, thanks to your help. In the written description, it states it is for a twin bed, but in the intro you say a full (double). Could you clarify? Also, do you remember the width of that particular closet? Thanks for the inspiring video. Beautiful work! Very inspiring.
Nice build... Did it take all five days, or do you think shooting and other factors slowed it down? If you had to install this kit again, do you think you could do it it in fewer days?
I bought this exact kit six months ago and haven't gotten around to building it yet, I will be using an entire wall with bookshelves/kids desks on either side. Do you have any suggestions as far as tricky spots with the hardware, any issues you ran into that would help me? As I explore UA-cam channels I see a lot of people using Baltic Birch, I haven't bought any yet and just started looking for Hardwood dealers in San Diego that supply it, I have found 5x5 sheets, which is a bit weird. Anyways, I'm just rambling at this point, thanks for the video build, and the walnut end table video that led me to your Murphy bed build.
Great video! When building the cabinet per stock instructions there's a gap between the bed frame and back of the cabinet, right? What's the trick to build a headboard so the pillows don't fall down?

Thanks Bruce!!! It was a challenge shooting in there for sure. Tried some new things with the edit, so I’m glad to hear it’s working 😁
Looks awesome. The box behind the handle hole is one of my favorite details.
Thanks Brian!
Great build as usual. Interesting off-site challenges. Fantastically clever editing.
The all blue everything kills me. 😂
dude, your editing just keeps getting better and better. great video
Thanks Jessie!!
Great build! That dark blue paint color for the room, though...reminds me of old-time "Air Force blue"--this was used on building interiors and on vehicles.
Love the fact that you use your S123 for what it was built: transporting things. Nice looking bed!

Woo. It is cool.
Dang man, nice job! I hate building to that extent outside of my shop, you made it look like a cake walk!
Thanks Shaun! Yeah, it's definitely a different game when you have to build on site. I think the track saw is clutch. Also, if they hadn't had shopping carts there, I swear it would've taken an extra day 😅

Does the kit you used include the lifting mechanisms or do I need to buy that separately. Great video - very clear with detailed instructions.
Nice build... Did it take all five days, or do you think shooting and other factors slowed it down? If you had to install this kit again, do you think you could do it it in fewer days?
Nice job 👍🏻

Great build! How much would parts and lumber run you to duplicate this build?
What a Good Friend!💖
I LIKE ALL THE TOOLS YOU USED IN THIS VIDEO. CAN A HAVE A LISTING OF THOSE INCLUDING BRAND NAMES? PLANNING TO BUY THOSE. THANKS!!!!
They are all listed in the description of the video. Hope that helps
Is that floor made of plywood squares? I am wanting to make those for my home after ripping up old carpet.
Your KCMO t-shirt caught me off guard. Hello and thanks from a viewer in KC.
Right on! I grew up in KC 😁 thanks for watching!
Wow!
Nice build! Just a note about plywood, they never come in "6 ply". Its always an odd number of ply's (3,5,7,9,11,13......)
wow thats A LOT of blue
Nice build is that a full size Murphy bed?
