  • Learn How to sleep in your car.
    www.startupinacar.com
    In this video I show you three different sleeping positions to use when sleeping in your car. I also discuss methods to increase privacy such as tinting your windows and putting up a visor on your front windshield.
    Falling asleep is one of the most challenging parts of living in your car. I've found 3 different ways to sleep in a car, and they have allowed me to sleep comfortably and get a somewhat restful night sleep. Once you find a place to sleep and find a comfortable position to sleep in, living in your car isn't THAT bad. Obviously you'll still want to save up for a van, but sleeping in a car is doable until you're able to improve your situation.

    More and more people in the whole U.S. are living in their Cars or Vans...very sad situation indeed! You wouldn't know it if they didn't tell you. Will be doing it my self in the next couple of weeks. I have been watching things like this on UA-cam for about a month. I actually feel better about it, because I know it can be done. I'm grateful to at least have a Car...or I would be on the street!

      Good luck. If you're not sure how long you'll be in a car, I highly recommend looking at craigslist and seeing if you can get a cheap van. I've moved into a Chevy Astro van, and it's 1000X better than my car. I bought it for $1,500 but had to do a ton of cleaning and setup. Even then, the space is so so so much better. Take care of yourself!

      im going to do the same thing for about a week. Starting a new job hours away from where I stay with my parents so I decided to sleep in my car the first week until i have the funds to actually rent a room or airbnb. Glad to know im not alone though

      have a look at cheapRVliving here on youtube. A lot of people actually live in their cars since they prefer it over living a life in debt. Some even prefer the freedom it offers. It's like going on a camping trip, but everyday. I'm an outdoorsy person myself and I see nothing wrong with living in the car, or in a tent. You need very little in life to be happy. I actually woke up one day 8 years ago feeling suffocated by all the stuff I owned, and the debt that needed to be paid every month... This was the life I was told to live by people in power (companies and society), but I was miserable doing so. Instead I questioned it all, and today I live a minimalist lifestyle in a tiny cheap apartment. I'm usually trekking in nature every week, and wouldn't mind doing so full time. The biggest change you can make is your mindset and outlook on your situation. You can actually turn it around into something that actually brings happiness into your life.

      I don't feel sad at all personally. Instead, I feel much more freedom living in my car, on my own rather than living with family members on their property even my siblings. Besides that, I find more time for myself living in my car. After work, I don't have to rush home in traffic like I used to do when living in a house. The only thing that bothers me a bit is that when night comes I have to find a safe place to sleep that's all. I don't care if or how people look at me if they think that I am living in my car. It's my life ! I try to survive when I am in a difficult situation you know. Everybody is trying to survive somehow, some ways ! Even you live in a house, there are many things that you still have to pay, to take care of !!! So I don't give a damn how people think of me. They don't live my life !!! I appreciate people with more common sense and more understanding for others !!! I have been living in my sedan for about a week now, and I am alright with it !!!

    Putting a bed pillow on each back seat so the seat belt latches are covered worked well for me. A sun deflector keeps you warm and unassuming from people walking by. Saves a lot of money on vacations and frees you up to travel at night when the roads are deserted.

      Walmarts are usually a safe bet, although there have been a couple that tell you to leave. If you get some black posters and some tape you can "black out" your windows for more privacy. Great way to save up money, especially if you have a job. You could even save up for a van, and travel the world living in a campervan conversion. Be careful, stay safe, and best of luck to you.

    There is a 4th position. Buy a wide milk crate or something that's about the same size. Put that upside down in one of the spaces where your feet go, in the back seat. Lay your head at the other end of the back set and put your legs on the milk crate. Kind of a backwards "J" shape.

    When it was warmer out I used to just put the driver seat back and with the windows cracked, sleep like that. I have anxiety so the warm outside air calmed me. If it was raining it was so relaxing. Well, it's cold now and although kicking the car sleeping idea around again, I'm a bit nervous about being too cold. Lol

      Hatchback is a better option than a trunk. But a large suv or cargo van even better. I live in a chevy volt Hatchback it's tight but if it was a trunk it be harder. Not impossible but harder and less comfortable.

    Hey there, im going to live in my van for some time. I was wondering, do you think it’s a good idea to park and sleep at a truck stop? Or Walmart? What are some ways to park and sleep at night, under the radar?

    • @startupinacar2794
      @startupinacar2794  7 років тому +4

      I use Walmart mostly, some of them care, but others don't. You can black out your windows or use curtains (easier with a van probably). Rest stops are fine as long as you feel comfortable there. Truck stops are nice too because there are tons of semi-truck drivers parked there sleeping, so... It's kind of like a sem-trucker hotel lol.

      Traders Friend ...trade stocks?

    • @TRADERSFRIEND
      @TRADERSFRIEND 7 років тому +3

      That is an option, but I have a personal preference for forex. Just know that you can lose all of your money if you do not trade with discipline. It is not something to be taken lightly, but it can provide a nice income. It is worth looking into if you are a really disciplined person. It is pretty much a game that mirrors yourself, and shows you who you really are in terms of discipline......
      The best things I will tell you are these. Your chart will tell you more truth than anything, it unfortunately will also trick you. Master the language of that charts. Wait for a proper trade set-up before entering a market. Cut bad trades quickly. Right now that makes no sense, but one day if you decide that trading is for you that advice will be invaluable (^_^)

    Why not have like a box of clothes with something solid like books on top in the floor in front of your back seat and lay on that and the back seat if you can make it level? I'd try that and put my tiny memory foam mattress back there. It folds like a futon. That'd be perfect with some tinted windows and maybe even some shirts hanging in front of the Windows to block out even more light.

    About the last method you can do this with your seatbelt on if you are in a road trip, here is how to. You go sit in the middle seat then put the seatbelt on. Then when you put the seatbelt you now that part of the seatbelt that goes over your body right? Pull that part to the side. Then lay down and enjoy.

    I removed the passenger seat and the rear seat in my car. I also had all my windows tinted with limo tints - except the front windows of course... because it is illegal in my state to do so.
    I lined the floor with yoga mats and weight lifting mats I bought at Walmart. It is soooo roomy and I sleep like a baby every night comfortably!
    I sleep with my head in the trunk section and stretch my legs all the way to the front - with plenty of leg room!
    And this way I have plenty of storage for my other stuffs as well.

      HitsMetal. Condensation. I read another car dweller has a couple of tube socks filled with kitty litter and it helps to absorb the moisture from your breathing. Also crack the window open a little bit for fresh air.

    If you plan to keep your car, it may be worth it to remove the passenger seat. then set up a cot or wood panell from front to back and use a 4"foam. you will have a permanent bed. an extra seat behind driver seat and a full trunk for everything else. Oh nevermind- I just saw this was 7 yrs ago and you prob are married and own a house lol.

      Because they can’t afford rent. We have at least a million street people nationwide and another million that are living in cars, vans, RV’s and other alternative accommodations. And the unaffordable housing situation is only getting worse.

    Worst sleeping positions in a car I've ever seen. The only thing you succeeded with here is discouraging ANYONE from EVER sleeping in their car. You obvious need to get OUT of that situation.
