Tip for your windows. Go to a dollar store and grab big cardboard paper/bristol boards. Hold it up to your window and Trace out and outline of the window. Cut it out with a box cutter or scissors. Then I like to add a duct tape border to each window cut out, this helps them stick in the corners of the window better and also prevents them from ripping plus you can make little adjustments with the tape if it doesn't quite cover every little spot, then you can throw them up in about a minute
Dollar tree also sells the aluminum foil looking window shade thing. They are flimsy but you can block off all windows for under 10 dollars. I recently tinted my windows though. Only have one decent windshield four thing (mane wtf that shit called?) Lmao I'm stoned af while typing this... 👽

So many people just miss out on those adventures, nothing like sleeping around nature that way, people just call 'weird' but i dont think its weird. i think its special and quiet
And another tip for people if they want more storage, usually the floor of the trunk unscrews and reveals a little space for your spare tire. If you don't have a spare tire in there it's almost like a second little mini trunk. You can even fit some stuff in there if the tires in there
I'm not homeless...and pray to Almighty God that I never am. However, I must say, having a vehicle to drive and be able to use it as shelter isn't a bad option
I'm currently homeless and sleeping in my car. It's too bad it's illegal here in QLD Australia, and that my back seats don't go down, and that I'm 6ft. And it's surprisingly hard to find isolated spots, and when I do find them, people still tend to bother me as I stand out looking like an abandoned car or something. Walmart occasionally sells a really great very thick foam mattress in two sizes that folds into three and doesn’t smash down when you lay on it. The small size fits me I’m 5’3” and not skinny. The wider size would be two people or a wider sized person. I love mine and I cover it with a sheet. It comes with a plastic carrying case. Anyway nice video and happy trails!

I was thinking of doing something like this when I often go solo-camping in National/Provincial Parks. I often get a campsite and setup a tent but sleeping on ground in a tent is kind of uncomfortable. I have a new Hyundai Elantra 2022 and one of the additional ideas is that since it has a sunroof, I could maybe keep that open a bit, and just take along a little fenced screen (to keep the insects out) that I could put on top of the open sunroof on the outside of the car to get some nice ventilation while sleeping.
Hi, me too! Trying to plan a short trip with my Kia Soul rn, only problem is I am 6' 2". Was hoping to find some tall people in the comments bc I need advice.
Many years ago I had to live out of my Pontiac sunfire and doing this method worked best. Unfortunately I'm about to have to do this again only this time it's with a chrysler 200. Watching because I'm looking for tips on how to be more comfortable. 😅
I have a Chrysler 200 & im just not sure there’s anything to make that backseat area comfortable. I have a bad back. I’m 5’2 & average weight. Not skinny. Car is almost paid off. I’m being forced to look to camping for awhile. I hate the way the backseat area is designed in the Chrysler. For bigger women like me- I just don’t see this being comfortable. I’ll most likely end up sleeping in drivers seat just in case I have to start the car for safety and get away quickly.
Me and my bf are traveling to another province in Canada and seeing this makes me happy. The only problem is that I am a plus size person and my bf is 6ft tall
You can also slide the front seats up and fold them down forward maybe not to give you more headroom, but give you some space for your arms to stretch a little haha
I am homeless right now with my husband and dog so this does help a lot still pretty hard for the 3 of us our dogs 60 lbs but we try our best to make it work so thanks for this🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
In times of heat you can stop at the home depot or anywhere that sells heat reflective material and carve it out to fit your windows. It’s not 100% but it will help w keeping the heat away.
I have a 2001 Saturn S Series and I put the seats down and have a nice cushion and sleeping bag and I am good to go! It is funny bc I never see Saturns in any videos!!!

I am about to take a long trip and planning to sleep in the car to save some money. Question: do you crack opened your windows for alittle bit to allow airflow during the sleep or is it a bad idea?
Would suggest getting window shields/deflectors and some kind of screen mesh, you can crack the windows and they wont look open from the outside and the mesh keeps out bugs. I think the deflectors are worth the investment, you could probably rig the mesh cheaper than buying a kit though!
I drive a 97 buick lesabre. It feels like a living room and I'm 6 foot. If you had one of these it would be like a luxury suite! I only drive old school American luxury sedans, just incase I have to live in my car. I've had to do it several times. I technically live in my car now. Great video! 👍❤
Excuse me for asking but what do you do for security? if you're ever confronted by individuals that wish to make your night unpleasant?? I would think safety is 1st priority?
I was afraid this wouldn't work in my two door because i figured getting situated would be a pain. But it actually works. I just tested it out. Now i just need to find some stuff to make it comfy.
@@BudgetTravelKids Basic setup was plastic bins to hold my clothes, a mesh bag to hold my dirty clothes, a futon mattress in the back, legs extended into the trunk at night for sleep, curtains, Planet Fitness for showers. It was at least 10X easier to do it when I could come back for the weekend, recharge, and stock food for the week. Over time I bought supplies to make myself better at it, 12V fridge and a power supply and so on. The problem I never really resolved was keeping enough of a charge to keep the fridge working the whole time.
My father chose to live in his van. When he sees these vids, he says living in a car is great if u r a minimalist. He says most vids have too much in the vehicle. Cooking, u don't need to cook. Fast food chains. No dishes no shopping no cooking. The battery fridge is all u need for coke juice beer.
You fit all your stuff in your car well. Wondering...why don't you lay on the passenger side (move the front seat forward (or lay it down forward), then have most of your things on the driver side? I think you would still have enough room to sleep, yet keep your valuables hidden in the trunk area. Just a thought. Stay safe dear! :)
Had to subscribe for the Phish CD shoutout 😂 love the setup! Trying to set up my Mazda3 for winters in the northeast...and summer tour '22 of course! 😜
I always watch and search for these kinds of videos because I want to do van or car life and these will be so useful when I am able to get a car. The reason why I cant get a car is because I am to young. Also thank you for the different ideas Laras Themes

I’ve been homeless for over a year living in my Ford Focus, and I sleep in the drivers seat. I much prefer it over the cold pavement 🙂

Late to the party but I was curious if you had the front passenger seat moved all the way up I'm 6'2". Very cool to see someone doing this! Thank you
I like the idea of using a bedsheet for privacy.
Great video ... I have a Hyundai Elantra and plan on using your idea to car-camp in New England.
I love to hear it!
Wow very helpful! Thanks for sharing. I really need to clean my trunk
I have a Chrysler 200 with a similar back seat and trunk, so this is very helpful!
Excuse me for asking but what do you do for security? if you're ever confronted by individuals that wish to make your night unpleasant?? I would think safety is 1st priority?
Good question! That’s why I sleep in the car- because I can lock the doors. Much more safe/secure for a solo female traveler than sleeping in a tent
@@BudgetTravelKids Glad to hear that that you're taking care of yourself
Great stuff! Thanks for all the tips.
Aren't those curtains obvious? You should put in reflectors anc cover them with black tape would be much better and less obvious 👍🤔
I was afraid this wouldn't work in my two door because i figured getting situated would be a pain. But it actually works. I just tested it out. Now i just need to find some stuff to make it comfy.
i did the same setup in a honda civic. cool setup. 👍
Love to hear it
@@BudgetTravelKids Basic setup was plastic bins to hold my clothes, a mesh bag to hold my dirty clothes, a futon mattress in the back, legs extended into the trunk at night for sleep, curtains, Planet Fitness for showers. It was at least 10X easier to do it when I could come back for the weekend, recharge, and stock food for the week. Over time I bought supplies to make myself better at it, 12V fridge and a power supply and so on. The problem I never really resolved was keeping enough of a charge to keep the fridge working the whole time.
I've taken my back seats out on my 97 RAV4 Toyota. It is small but I bet I can squeeze myself in there if I manage to guard my tools.
Thank you!!! Love this video, really helped 😊
Glad to hear!
I always watch and search for these kinds of videos because I want to do van or car life and these will be so useful when I am able to get a car. The reason why I cant get a car is because I am to young. Also thank you for the different ideas Laras Themes
That means you have plenty of time to due research. Good luck on your future endeavors.
