Thanks for the tutorial. One tip from my side: be 100 percent sure that the filter is really dry after rinsing. Inserted mine after 1 day, seemed not to be totally dry and that killed my s7 😂
Thank you so much. This is by far the best instructional video that I have run across dealing with my Roborock S7. I had several issues understanding the manual as a majority of it did not explain exactly how to clean the Main brush😅😊 I am going to save your instructional video for later periodic maintenance.
Thanks you ! You're one among rares to show how to unmount the omnidirectional wheel. I didn't dare to force with my screwdriver, and didn't know if the WHOLE wheel (the circular part, rotating) should be leveraged too. Hopefully this video was here. So many thanks.
Really helpful demo of removing and reinstalling the main brush. But I'd advise against wetting metal components, or running water through a filter containing loose dust. I bought the S5 max over a year ago. It was a game changer in terms of keeping the house looking respectable. Its only shortcoming is it doesn't raise the mop when going over carpeted areas. So, I recently upgraded to the S7. Doing so seemed like a bit of an extravagance, but I'm delighted with it. Every time I empty the dustbin I tap the dry filter against the side of my rubbish bin to dislodge loose dirt. I wash the filter fortnightly by placing the clean side under the tap, so the running water removes dirt easily, as opposed to embedding it in the filter. It's really handy to have spare filters, that way the robot isn't out of action for a day or two, while I wait for original one to dry. Spare mop pads are a good investment too. I rinse the mop pad after each use and occasionally machine wash them. Towels shed a lot of lint, clogging microfibre, and reduce the performance of mop pads, so be careful about what else you include in the load if machine washing. I take out the main brush once or twice a month to remove tangled hair. I replaced both the main brush and side brush after about 6 months. And on rare occasions, the app prompts me to clean contacts and sensors using a soft dry cloth. I don't know if it being dry is necessary to prevent water damage, but I'm not taking any chances. Aside from that, I haven't done anything else in terms of maintenance in the 15 months I've owned a roborock. My floors are always clean now, with very little effort on my part, which is not something I could have claimed before purchasing the S5 max. If you're between two minds as to whether or not to buy the S7, I'd take the plunge. For anyone without allergies, I don't think an auto empty dock is worth the extra expense. Emptying the dustbin is a quick task to perform manually. But I guess the same could be said about moving rugs, or setting no mop zones.
Hi Breda, thanks for sharing your tips and experience with the S5 and S7. I agree, that since owning a Roborock, my floors have never been so clean so often too!
@@iamjoshstunell Question for Breda and Johs himself, do you guys recommend using demineralized water instead of the regular tap water for the water tank? I'm thinking of getting S7 or to wait for S7 MaxV to appear in Serbia. Reason why I'm asking if tap water shouldn't be used is because of possible limestone appearing and clogging up the nozzle used to wet the cleaning cloth? It's very common, for example, in Serbia that limestone appears from our tap water, even though water itself is perfectly fine to drink and all that... I'm just worried that I might clog up the nozzle and, literally, make moping useless if the water can't get through :|
Early Roborocks used a non-washable paper filter. Since the S5, the filter is specifically designed to be cleaned using tap water. I use the sprayer attachment on my sink to get a little more pressure. It gets the filter much cleaner. Filter life is greatly extended by regular washing. Just be sure to let it dry COMPLETELY before re-using.
Leaving a comment just in case anyone runs into a similar problem: I was receiving error 18 (fan error). If the air filter gets too dirty, that can be one potential cause of the fan error because the fan isn't able to pull enough air. I followed the procedure described here to clean the filter and dustbin, and the error went away. Great video!
Very helpful video, thanks for making this. I just got a Roborock T7 and it's basically the same machine, so this was a useful reference point. Your instructions were clear and the video's well edited. The only thing in the video I'd change is don't wash the filter, it clogs it up and doesn't remove dust. Use a proper vacuum or brush to get the dust off the filter. Or get some cheap replacement filters, and replace the filters more regularly. The Roborock subreddit has some good tips.
This! I came across that small filter and it was so full with dust. I think that is the reason my roborock s7 is giving 'filter clogged' errors. At least, I hope this will help:)
What an awesome video! I have been trying to get a service centre who would clean my robot because I was too lazy to just look at this video and do it myself. Thank you for teaching us something new. 👏🏻
I don't recommend rinsing the filter. Getting it wet will only cement the fine particles onto the filter media. You should blow it clean with compressed air.
There's also a little slot in the air filter cavity with a circular mesh that gets blocked off by dust. It's a bit hard to see but should be cleaned too.
What wonderfully demonstrated and explained instructions! Thank you so much for these; it’s good to be educated on how to maintain this expensive little lifesaver! I love mine - a later model, but anyway. Just awesome. Have a lovely day! 😊
A better way to clean the dust bin after emptying the bulk of of it is with a can of compressed air. Take it outside and hit the filter on both sides as well as the dust bin itself with the compressed air and it cleans it much more efficiently than running water. Also won't need extra time to dry. Of course if you have crap literally gunked up and stuck to the dust bin, for sure run that through water lol
The worst piece of garbage I ever bought This crap worked fine one month and then stop working, by contact the manufacturer they said of clean it up and try again which obviously didn’t fix the issue. Then they asked to the item to be returned there has been ONE month without no news or updates. They should have the decency to send a brand new or give my money back, instead they will fix it and se d it back, which they didn’t yet. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!! I regret not buying it, it took more than a month to fix it and today my Roborock arrived with the roller wet and smelly (I don't know if it's working) but what a rubbish service. (If you want advice, don't buy this product)
I found this video very useful but two place were too fast for me - taking the ends off and in the main roller and the re-setting of the app at the end
Seriously well done video. Great job. On my Roborock it has a filter to clean for the dirty water going back to the Q series. I could not find video on their website or app. The filter is removable to take big stuff out but there is an area under removable filter that gets clogged also but can find info on how to clean it.
Mr Josh Tunell, Many thanks for your detail video which has been a great help. Can you please help with a problem others may also have faced? Cleaning stuck up hair at the roller's axles is daunting. Because, taking out the grey twist-off cap on the right hand side is tricky. At times, twisting it off doesn't work and when I tried too hard, the black part of the assembly (supposedly attached to the grey twist off cap), separated from the grey cap. When that happens, it's darn difficult to figure out how to reassemble the black piece into the grey twist off cap, and put them back into the roller. THAT IS REALLY MY PROBLEM. After it happened the first time, I ordered another roller kit. It happened again: I was careful in removing the grey twist off cap but it just it wouldn't budge. A little extra force, again it separated out the black part of the assembly. Tried to push the black piece into the twist off cap from the inside - doesn't work, because some notches prevent the hard plastic from the inside to allow the black piece's orientation to go through. I have watched your video frame by frame - at 1:09 there's no way that orientation allows the black plastic piece and the twist off cap can be together. Perhaps, there's some simply way to resolve this problem, please let me know: If while twisting off grey cap the black piece separates, how the heck does one reassemble the roller. My apologies if this is a stupid question. I am at a loss here, any insight will be appreciated. But again, many thanks for a video which has overall been immensely helpful.
Thanks for the help. Not sure my wife has cleaned the vac since we got it...Felt like it had enough hair stuck in it to make a wig! Should run a lot better now!
Thanks for posting this video I really don’t have anything else to do at home besides exercise and play video games, so I can do anything and clean my Roborock vaccum
Came looking for help because when I removed the brush housing, I couldn't figure out how to put the little black piece back into the side of the red wheel. I got the side without the pin done fine, but I kept trying to nest the black piece in with the gray piece on the other side. This video helped me figure out that they don't nest, they just butt up adjacent to one another and then the pin holds them together.
I need to clean the Air vent. It's full of dust. I cleaned the hole in the dust bin area but how to clean the "inside" part, we can see a grid from the outside were it's written "vibra rise". Thank you
i just use a high powered compressor to clean the vacuum after every use since i have one in my computer shop. it take me 5 minutes over all. i did like the info on the roller i didnt know those ends came off.
Excellent Video. Very helpful. I ordered s7 yesterday. Where is a reasonable place to buy mop heads, filters and brushes? Also what is the best practice with two story house and one changing station.
I think first ønsce filter with another vacuum cleaner or a little rubbing with a brush, then wash it. because in the video it looks like all the dust has been stuck and left after the first wash.
Wow! What a crystal clear explanation. Excellent video. My Roborock 7, I get error 1 Can you pls help me? A clear cut video like this would help. Thank you. Bless you 🙏
Thanks for this video, we have an S6 MaxV and Wow! Very impressed how well it does. Videos like yours are very helpful & much easier to understand than the hard to read papers it came with. Need a magnifying glass to read the tiny letters. 😂 Cheers!
Thanks for the informative video. Going to go home and do a spring cleaning on my baby! Seems like this will (hopefully?) stop the hairballs we get every time it runs. DO YOU AGREE this will stop that from your experience?
It’s very helpful thank you! However, my Roborock S8+ now has an “empty trash bin error” I guess the channel between the trash bin and the dock was stuck but I don’t know how to open and clean the channel, could you please help!
Thank you. Just want to check how to remove robot from dock (Ultra) to do the cleaning. Do I turn it off first and just manually lift it out of the dock?
Dude thank you for this video. I was thinking I was a macho man who didn't need to read the instructions. When cleaning my robot it smells disgusting. Why? if it wasn't for your video I wouldn't have known there was Dustpan because I don't read instructions 😆 🤣
Thanks, very helpful video. Doing my first maintenance now. Do you think everything is washable that comes off? I did and I hope it's OK but maybe some parts don't like water?
Hello, thank you very much for this excellent video. I would like to know what error 16 means and what I can do to solve it, since my robot stops indicating that error number. Thank you very much again.
Thanks for the nice video. I have a natural stone floor that my Roborock scratches on. The four protruding parts of the brush cover touch the floor. This causes scratches on the floor. Is there a solution for this? For example, increase the distance from the bottom to the floor? hopefully you have a solution. Greetings Michel.
Do I need to remove the water container before flipping the robot upside down? And the maintenance needs to be done on a soft surface so the sensors on the top of the unit won't get damaged?
After watching your videos I wonder if the robot really makes life simpler compared to traditional vacuuming and mopping. I would like to know your opinion.
Hi Giuliana, I definitely think it makes life easier around the home. Since buying the S7, only twice have I done a complete thorough vacuum with a plug in vacuum cleaner. I've found that by sending the Robovac out more regularly, reduces the need for manually vacuuming. It does have it's limitations in that it can't get right into tight corners and can't do skirting boards etc though, so depending on your home will determine how often you need to manually clean those areas. This video describing the maintenance is as per the recommended schedules, but in reality, you can go a couple of weeks without needing to touch the device. If you get the auto-empty dock, the dust bin and paper filter maintenance all but goes away, as the auto-empty does such a good job at cleaning those items. Then all you need to do is empty the auto-empty dust bin every 6-8 weeks, keep an eye on the main brush for tangles, and sensors for dust!
A robot does a much better job than us because it travels along the area's slower, picking up more material! a robot doesn't, rush the hated job or get bored like we do. You can programme it to vacuum when you are out even, you can keep your home more dust free with a robot because you vacuum more often with a robot! Less dust on the floor = less dust everywhere else! Just use your plug in vacuum with the small point nozzle to clean out your robots bin and bin filter in situ!
Great video!! Any idea if it’s ok to leave the mop on the vacuum always on a S7 + ? The manual says it has to be removed after every use but some forums suggest it’s ok to leave it on for the S7+ . Thank you
Thanks for watching! I've had no issues with leaving the mop on after each use. Of course, it's probably best to remove it and replace with a clean mop pad before your next mopping cycle to ensure it does the best job it can!
Thanks for watching! There is no mention from Roborock about needing to use distilled water in the tank. I think normal tap water is fine, but if you would prefer distilled, I don't think it will harm the robot in any way.
thank you for the extremely clean presentation of how to maintain the roborock .
Thanks for watching, glad it was helpful!
exactly the same thing is shown in the manual
Thanks for the tutorial. One tip from my side: be 100 percent sure that the filter is really dry after rinsing. Inserted mine after 1 day, seemed not to be totally dry and that killed my s7 😂
SAME it kills the battery

it is much better to blow out the filters with, for example, a compressor. if you rinse it with water, you might as well seal it with wet dust.
Perfect video! Great narration and quality video of the content. Appreciate all the info, including official recommendations from the manufacturer.

Fantastic cleaning and maintenance video! Thank you.
Thanks, this is much better than the official site :D
Thanks for this Josh, it really was most helpful
Super usefull video! Well made, sectioned and explained! Thanks, man! :)
Using an electronic duster blower is best for the air filter. No wait for drying
Cleaning the filter every time I empty it with a dyson is magic. And with water a couple times a month.
So do you need to replace these or just clean them??
i just use a high powered compressor to clean the vacuum after every use since i have one in my computer shop. it take me 5 minutes over all. i did like the info on the roller i didnt know those ends came off.
Best video to install the main brush. This doesn’t exist in german. So thank you for that
Thanks for watching!
I always use another vaccum cleaner for the filter 😂
1:00 How do you clean the inside of the brush. Yours only has so little dirt on the edges, but it gets more. Then what?
Such a good informative video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent Video. Very helpful. I ordered s7 yesterday. Where is a reasonable place to buy mop heads, filters and brushes? Also what is the best practice with two story house and one changing station.
Magnificent demonstration thank you
Great vid thanks! Can you add detergent for the mopping functionality?!
You sure can! But Roborock recommends only their own solution.
I think first ønsce filter with another vacuum cleaner or a little rubbing with a brush, then wash it. because in the video it looks like all the dust has been stuck and left after the first wash.
Wow! What a crystal clear explanation. Excellent video. My Roborock 7, I get error 1
Can you pls help me?
A clear cut video like this would help.
Thank you. Bless you 🙏
Thank you 😊. Doing some maintenance on both of mine today!
thanks for this one! I had forgotten how to fix that roller!

Thanks for watching! My parents have the S6 MaxV and thats what got me convinced with robot vacuums. Its a great machine!
brilliant!!!!! I had no idea I needed to do this till I did it!!! It was sooooo yucky!!!
Thanks for the informative video. Going to go home and do a spring cleaning on my baby! Seems like this will (hopefully?) stop the hairballs we get every time it runs. DO YOU AGREE this will stop that from your experience?
Hi thank you for the helpful video. My roller Brush is stuck and somehow I am not able to remove it.. Any idea why and how to fix this?
It’s very helpful thank you! However, my Roborock S8+ now has an “empty trash bin error” I guess the channel between the trash bin and the dock was stuck but I don’t know how to open and clean the channel, could you please help!
Very informative and helpful video! Thank you so much!
thanks for the nice detailed video!

Hello, thank you very much for this excellent video. I would like to know what error 16 means and what I can do to solve it, since my robot stops indicating that error number. Thank you very much again.
Error 16 means that the robot is tilted or on a uneven surface

Just use your plug in vacuum with the small point nozzle to clean out your robots bin and bin filter in situ!
need such a video for the empty dock.
Thanks for the info. At what temperature do you wash the mop cloth, in the washing machine ?
30 is enough, maybe 40.
Remove it! It starts smelling after each use, and you are smearing stinky water all over your floors.
Helpful video, thanks...what do you think about using distilled water in the water tank?
Thanks for watching! There is no mention from Roborock about needing to use distilled water in the tank. I think normal tap water is fine, but if you would prefer distilled, I don't think it will harm the robot in any way.
My roborock S5 mopping function doesn't work very well. How can I increase the waterflow from the water tank to the mopping pad?
Hey P.K have a look here and I show what works for me - ua-cam.com/video/xu2VfozcUoM/v-deo.html
