an incredible good video, I liked it a lot and can't agree more with what this kind gentlemen has to say, I am sooooooo tired of provincial life, thanks for a great video Mia!
I stayed right by Legaspi park for a month, Makati was a nice city, very walkable. I ate out a lot and it was very affordable despite being in the financial district
Great interview Mia! Interviewing an expat that has real life experience is priceless to future expats. He's absolutely correct about being close to quality healthcare facilities. Although, I hear that Cebu City and Davao City have quality private healthcare.
Thanks for watching. Yes, I will always try to interview people who have had experiences so I can share them with my viewers as well. See what they think about living here in the Philippines as an expat and to show the viewers their point of view as well, not just the locals. Yes, there are good hospitals in Cebu too, but I guess he would rather choose Makati than Cebu.
Mabuhay Mia. Great interview with Nils! Very informative. I have just subscribed to his channel. I plan to move to the Philippines next year from Southwest Florida. I thought I had decided on Valencia, but I'm going to also check out Makati since viewing this interview. Thanks and God bless.
Your interviewing is getting so good Mia , of course the bigger cities have the bigger hospitals and class surgeons etc, where l come from in Australia its the same , l have been travelling to the Philippines since 1981 and just my opinion is and l'm not knocking Makati or any cities that have the best of hospitals but to knock Dumaguete or Cebu is not correct ,Cebu has some fine hospitals and some of the Medical Imaging Centre's are on par with what l have seen here in Australia . I have also seen vloggers fly back to USA for treatment only to find they cant even get to see a general practitioner, l prefer to stay in Cebu and Dumaguete than to live in a polluted city and love to breathe fresh air and walk amongst the banana trees and coconuts with a fine province girl.😀keep them vloggs going Mia God Bless.
Thanks for sharing. Well, I guess to each his own. I just think a lot of people would want to stay in the province rather than in the city. He just prefers the city. And yes, Cebu has some good hospitals too. It's up to us whether we'll stay in the city or in the province.
it sure is Mia , thinking about hospitals Bangkok has its share of fantastic hospitals, be nice if the Philippines started building nursing homes as they certainly have the best of nurses,
You are an excellent interviewer, Mia. I've been following from the beginning, and you are now a natural. I've been to Makati its nice for living in a city but I like the Visayas islands and the nature there and also there are good women there like you.
I myself been living in SoCal for about 50 years but I plan on retiring in Makati because I have lots of relatives that live in Alabang and Paranaque . Plus I can go to my province in Bicol by flying and see my other relatives.
I was born in Makati (actually in Makati Med!) and raised in Manila. I totally understand how he feels with Makati, it's my home now too, my husband and I recently bought a condo in Salcedo Village right beside Legazpi and we love it! We also looked at condos in Legazpi but Salcedo won us over. But for people who claim that city life is no life, we're so handy to the airport and go for long weekends. We've also got a beach house in Aklan right in the middle of Kalibo and Caticlan airport. I just don't seem to be a fan of gossips and dramas in the province like Dumaguete.
Nice to see you again Mia, I haven’t been watching as much You Tube lately sorry. Interesting interview, I used to watch Nils’ channel before. I stayed in Legaspi Village years ago , it’s really nice. I wouldn’t have thought you could live there on a thousand dollars a month. So…how come you’re in Manila Mia ?
Great interview, Mia. I'd like to meet this guy when I get out to Manila in about a year for my 3-4 month exploratory visit (BGC, I like the tower condos near the American Memorial) but also want to check out the Greenbelt area as I like all the greenery that I've seen in videos of that area and how close it is to shopping areas and food markets. His concerns about having good medical nearby is also why I'm thinking of BGC or Makati. I've heard that Iloilo has good medical too (cancer treatment and heart bypass surgery available) and also has ambulance services. I like the condo living idea due to having a pool to enjoy on hot days, especially if some of the pool is shaded and also the gyms at the condo--I'm more likely to use them when there are available within my condo building compared to having to go somewhere else in traffic or bad weather--I'd likely just cancel my workout when that happens but with those available within my condo tower, I'd have no excuse to not workout. It's also a plus with so much being available nearby (restaurants, coffee shops, malls, food places & markets) with just walking there, which is an activity I need to do more of, especially as I get older. Overall, these areas seem like great places for us older expats to live and it appears he found a place with a good price too so he can stay within his budget.
This location in Makati would be ideal for me to come to and retire and make my home base. Thank you for this content and I’ll come visit in Oct 2024 to look for a place to settle down and make connections. I’m 67 and think I’ll fit in perfectly there. I wont go online to get hooked by “ Online Scammers “ he has a great personality, and it shows his happiness is genuine. I don’t like the drama of the others in the Philippines, and this location seems perfect lifestyle to enjoy with positive energy.❤
I do like Mia's interviews because of her personality and her genuine and good character. I think that the country has a lot going for it. It has nice beaches. It has a nice culture. People smile, speak Engliish and are fun to be around. As an American, I really do appreciate how warm Filipinos were to me and my family there. If you're lucky enough to have a Filipina, champ wife, wow, its even better.
Myself spend more just in housing at Virginia Beach than his total budget at Makati. Excellent interview with good information Mia, thanks for sharing.
Makati, Iloilo, Dumaguete... A lot of choices. Thank you for talking about Makati. Where in Makati is the gentleman, and what was the name of his UA-cam channel?
Wow!! Did he say $1000 USD for his total all inclusive living budget? I'm strongly considering Cebu to retire (Nov 2023), but now might want to take a look at the Makati area. The BGC and Manila areas are Not for me...
Mia, you set the bar so high. You need to help us lost Foreigners find a Mia look-a-like or similar personality girl to pursue and marry. Have you started a pool of pre-approved Filipinas for the foreigners to talk to yet?
HAHA Thanks, but I don't think so. There are good women out there too; they're just not on UA-cam. And about that, well, I never do that kind of stuff.
Its a weird opinion to say you wouldn't live somewhere else, if you never lived in any of the other places. I live in Zamboanga City for years now and love it.
How much do you suppose a plane ticket is from the Cebu airport to Manila :-)? I just booked an entire month in Cebu. But perhaps I should add a few days to check out Makati.
Hi Mia, hope you and Paul are doing well,.🇨🇮. Can you please answer some questions for me. I'm 60 atm, and I have been to Thailand for holidays in the past. My feelings are to move to Asia when I retire which is not until the age of 65. Philippines is a possibility but I will travel for a holiday first. Questions: 1. How do these men support their lifestyle here in the Philippines, is it there pensions that they receive from back home. 2. Does the Philippine government give them a permanent visa or have they to apply for one every year, with the possibility that they won't be given one. 3. If a westerner marrys a Philippine woman is he entitled to a permanent visa. Hope that you will take the time to answer as I'm curious before I travel. Love your videos god bless x🇨🇮
Thank you. Yes, we are doing well. I'll try my best to answer them. 1. Yes, I reckon some of them depend on the pension that they got from their hometown; I reckon others have an online job or just visit the Philippines for a short while, then go back to their place and work more. 2 and 3. When it comes to visas, I don't have any in-depth knowledge about them. But I can refer you to Filipina peas. She interviewed a lawyer, and I think she can answer your queries. Thanks for watching!
@@AsianRomance Hey Nils, It was great seeing you on this video and I'm a big fan of your channel! I've spent a few months living in hi-rise Airbnb condos in nearby Malate and Ermita. I could clearly see smog blanketing the whole area of Manila including Makati. There wasn't a miraculous pocket of clean air just inside the Makati city limits, the smog was region wide. Maybe the smog detectors at Makati city hall are a bit out of calibration?

Makati may be cleaner than Manila but you're still breathing the same air which is usually heavily polluted. Cebu is a better choice for me.
I beg to differ. Check the official air quality reports in Makati.
