- Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Start-up India Action Plan on 16 January 2016, with the idea of investing Rs 10,000 crore over four years in a fund of funds. Two years on, less than 1 percent has been disbursed to 17 Alternate Investment Funds (AIFs) who, in turn, have invested only Rs 337.02 crore in 75 start-ups.

Read about how construction companies, Power distribution companies(esp through UDAY scheme), coal bloc allocation, acute shortage of coals in power plants, HELP policy(which led to the better allocation of sea shore fuel blocs) have been revitalised by this govt.

Collateral free loan are just namesake. Just go any sidbi bank branch they will entertain you until you gave hi income tax returns.

After Nirav Modi scandal banks are not giving any loans. Most small companies cannot expand or continue. The tax comes later, first is the money. There are no flows of money.
I am a startup entrepreneur I am good with government policies but money and capital is wat we need. And most of the startup companies want to raise investments from the big companies to gain the name and publicity, no start-up came in to light with out a big name investors
No one will give a heads up with an investor with a small name.

I can't say govt is doing nothing or govt is doing everything right.There are several factors.Situation of global Market and lack of innovation including the mindset of educated youth of India. India's neighborhood doesn't offer big quality market,our access to the Chinese market is limited.Indians are efficient in Dhanda,beowsa but not in real innovative business.We may have a big software industry for service sector but don't have the ability to create companies like Google,facebook , Microsoft or Yahoo.At every step we need external assistance in technological development.We don't have world class universities within 100s or two hundreds.Our iitians or IIM graduates are mostly the products of coaching institute which teach to crack exams but don't teach to love the subjects.Very few Indian schools,colleges and universities have proper teaching quality.Indians always try to achieve everything by following shortcut methods,but over dependence on tricks can't make you great.I wonder when I see pupils are getting almost 100 percent marks in board exams and toughest entrance exams,but not able to find anyone from those who have done something innovative things.Govt continues reservation policy which creates another 50 percent liability for our nation. Bureaucratic procedures ,lack and misuses of fund exacerbate the situation.We need to look into our overall approach,policies and constitution.
You are probably not completely right with ur description of section 56(2). This section is mainly to check black money being brought in by way of share premium. The value calculated by tax authority is a fair market value based on a formula.
Holy shit, the 'angel tax' is unbelievable.. And I said this on twitter the day modi ji announced the scheme - it will be a waste of money. I am actually happy only 93 crores of the 10000 crores have been used, or it would have been a collosal waste or money.

Dissent is necessary, just blindly thinking govt will do everything is a fool's idea.Its necessary to point to any politicians that youth are watching u.Policies of the govt will look good initially.but the main issue is budget fund release not about allocation.secondly who gets those amount on ground reality.it doesn't matter who runs India modi ,Gandhi or even ambanis. I want is results, development, growth of the country.Untill ppl are proactive and questions the govt ,there can never have growth at a faster pace.I applaud quint of the facts and not giving their own opinion .Because at the end of the day which should judge wat suits for our country.
I feel the videos by quint are very biased. Criticism is good, but this is negativity. I feel the move itself should be applauded, it would have been unimaginable for the previous government to even think up such a scheme. This is a positive move ahead, yes there may be issues, but then criticize it do not outright say it is a failure, provide or ask for suggestions from viewers, be constructive. I feel the quint is not doing a good job of being a news provider, this much negativity will not lead to anything good.

Most of the time Government plans and take initative in a good spirit, but forgets that the hardest part is the execution. That's why we fail in most of the schemes. On the grass root level nobody takes seriously the new start ups. And by the time they realise a new gaint (Chinese or America) takes everything.

Brother there is no derth of biased media. Most of them are bought by bjp, some by Congress but that doesn't change the reality. I applause the scheme of "startup India" which doesn't imply that I support every step bjp takes.
My startup was not recognized by the startup India initiative, yet I was harrased by these tax guys for the small profit I hardly made. Now with this GST bullshit CAs have increased their fees and this is giving a hard time for small businesses in India. Unless you are a politician's son, forget doing business in India.
I belong from a lower middle class family(who pays college fees through bank loan) and I personally feel it's a great initiative. I don't know where you are from, we are fine with our legal partner. Our startup is just recognised by DIPP(it has to be innovative). 3 years tax exemption, funding opportunity, 80% rebate on patent filing(we didn't have enough money to patent it, now we can afford it) etc.
I am not a politician's son! My father is no more and I know what even a 3 rupee roti means as I spent many empty stomach nights. Fuel your zeal. The ecosystem is blooming. Best of luck for you.

Dear Raghav, I wish you did a better homework before making this video because the number of startups have only increased Year-on-year since 2016. The angel tax exemption was created to only fulfill the overwhelming demand from the startups side and the VC industry. And apart from the numerous benefits of the scheme, you chose to target only the niche ones and failed to convince because the statistics must have been backed by poor data.
Should you want to know the truth, then please do let me know. Will be happy to share the 'real' picture of the scheme with you.

I like how you picked the Solyandra case but forgot about the 465 million dollar loan given to Tesla by the US government which Musk paid back 10 years before it was scheduled to do so. I agree with most of what you had said in the video regarding the government being incompetent in doing business but the overall tone used in the video makes you sound very pretentious.

A comparison of apples with Oranges. In india there aren't enough private venture capitalists who bet on new businesses. So, unlike USA our entrepreneurs wither due to lack of money. Now if govt. doesn't play the role venture capitalist then who will ?? Moreover GOI didn't ban any angel investors from investing in new start ups & startup itself has very low success rate.
And this idea that govt. isn't a good investor is rubbish. In every major economy the new startups are always funded by governments as VC, lender, buyer or contractor.
