I think it's more about better management than innovative ideas, there are many innovative companies in the past who have gone bankrupt because of improper management.

The problem is that there is a very small percentage of India's population that comes in consumer class or who have atleast RS 1000 to spend on daily basis, the rest of our people either do not want to spend or are not in the condition.

I don't see why this is coming as a surprise. The core to success for startups is always going to be end demand for a product or a service, but it's also about whether the market is ready for it depending on how disruptive it is. There are plenty of cases where innovations were made well beyond their time and died out because the markets, systems and people were not ready for it, either financially or applicability wise. This not something new for the startup market. Do you think Amazon and Facebook were profitable from day one? Of course not, there was a long period of time even after the IPO that tech companies reported losses until they started breaking even. Some like Netflix are starting to fade after making it big. Many startups are born and die before seeing an MVP to market. It's just how the tech startup world works. Eventually, the viable ones will survive and thrive. Nothing concerning.

when failed college narcissists add founder and startups in their resume for social adulation and approval the startup culture is bound to get destroyed. the problem is not with the system but with the quality of recent batch of founders (*mostly) who are brats calling themselves founder for a quick dose of recognition and bragging rights.

If the startups can fund their expansion from profits as well they not only sustain and survive but will actually grow . The fancy word being bootstrapped. The rest without any visible signs of profit

What if we get back to our roots. Focus on agriculture, focus on renewable sources of energy and live closer to earth. Leave the big cities and try to become self sustained as much as possible. Why does everyone need to have a job in the city? Why can’t there be Mohan Bhargav’s living in small towns and creating self sustained farming, clothing and other essential commodities. Those who can afford can move out of country. But those who are here can make the most of natural resources and rich heritage to simplify life.

About 80% of all startups fail in the first 5 years, and maybe 1/2 of 1% turns into a billion dollar company. It's been this way for quite a while. All startups should have 2 important things to sustain the times and challenges. They should have a parallel income to fund themselves along with the Government aids and most importantly should have a cause for social well-being / welfare and social development to sustain and maintain the good work. Why would Economy support a business which doesn't support the Eco System??? In fact we should be grateful that atleast startups were given a chance in the first place given the economic condition in India. Let's be fair to our Government, COVID-19 has affected the businesses all over the world and we are not even fully developed country yet. The only way now for start ups to come back quickly are to find a parent company needing their experience and expertise. Anything mediocre needs to improve to become at par with the World startup trends. #JaiHind #VandeMaataram 🙏🇮🇳

It is obvious to be happened:
Even though creativity, hard skill, enthusiasm, hardworking, are there, even fund is not a big factor.
But the market linkage is absent.I have moved many cities, had talk with people, have seen the way of act.
People are having aspirations to be rich but majorly the mindset to be susatainable business owner or entrepreneur is absent.
Gimmick driven mindset and lacking to learn the assertive way and softskill mindfulness may be the reason.
Central government has opened up all the skill councils and made them head heavy where as grass root people from market need to be picked up,skilled up and promoted to run the show.
In India majorly people want super man ,who would bring them out from the misery.people are directionless .
In such conditions before establishing skill councils mindsets and approach should have reformed then it's background needed to be established.
Government should have put focus on creating trainers with clear understanding about the expectations.stringent quality control was needed. If trainers dont have clarity, understanding, then loyalty cannot be developed thus effective training cannot be delivered.even it may back fire.
You are making informed, skilled workforce with out direction...and consequences are being witnessed.
It can be the backbone of this nation if properly planned, executed with mindfulness.
    It needs thorough research again.
All those retired burocrates should not be taken as the head of the projects always.New people from other background should get the opportunity by which new possibilities would be created.

Chinese here. Let me explain to Indians a bit about business environment. YOU DON'T KILL THE FOREIGN GOOSE BEFORE THEY LAY EGGS!
Case one: take TikTok for example. It is one of the BIGGEST foreign investors in the world, including India. Yet guess what Indian government did? It kills it citing national security. BUT THERE IS NO REPLACEMENT. It is not easy to have such a successful IT company, even in US. It could have been the leading investment for India market. But no, national security. Off it goes. And guess what, other investors TOOK NOTE! They think this Modi government is no different than other Indian government. It will change laws without a moment's notice.
Case two: take Xiaomi for example. Xiaomi is one of the most pro-India foreign investor. It was one of the earliest investments in India. Its low price and high quality smart phones are exactly what the Indian market needs. And if India can learn from it, it might be able to have good start up to duplicate the success. But guess what, Indian government, citing some bogus tax laws, FROZE ALL MONEY belonging to Xiaomo in India. KILL THE GOOSE AND EAT THE MEAT!
Case three: GM and Ford ... need me to continue?
India IS NOT A GOOD BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT for foreign investors who are the wind beneath the wings of Indian Startup. That is because Indian government is short sighted and always try to the kill the goose. Goose is smart. You kill one, and the others simply fly away.
Welcome to India, bring money, and get eaten. That is the India Miracle.
