Good idea, but I always use my finger to apply ? Joker makes a very nice knife. It should last for years to come.

I have the Joker Nessmuk with the curly birch scales as well, and did what you showed to the wood in this video! It brought out the grain like crazy that was hiding in there. I use the hell out of mine doing multi-night hikes here in the PNW. The steel they use in these knives is superior - mine has stayed factory sharp with just a few honings on my 8000 grit KBS whetstone. This treatment also protects the wood from moisture. I used boiled linseed oil instead which I prefer and it leaves more of a satin finish. Your wood has a lot more figure than mine does. Joker knives are one of the best deals out there as they are really 200+ Dollar knives when you look at the quality of workmanship and the strength (not to mention that they are just drop-dead gorgeoous). Thanks so much for the instructional vid as the prep before treatment will work with any medium you wish to seal the wood with.

A fellow Aussie here from Perth. Been in the US for 35 yrs. Just came across this, as I was searching to darken and enhance my Joker knives. I'll order some oil and give it a shot. I'll resort to vegemite if needed! Thanks for the video, glad I found you.

Great video. I have just purchased a Mora Garberg and after receiving it, have decided it's not the level of quality I have with the other knives in my collection. I am returning it today and am planning to purchase a Joker Ember instead of which, I will do the same treatment you've just demonstrated, when I receive it. Thank you for taking the time to put out this video. WIshing you many years of enjoyment with yours. Looking forward to checking out your other videos!

    Good video 👍
That true oil works the best if you do thin layers but let each layer dry over night its worth the wait. It really can be a mess over time if ya go to thick . It also is really good to take over a buffing wheel after 4 to 5 coats. I like that slight soft satin feel it gets esp after your own hand oils soak in over time .
Boy these Joker knives are some of the most overlooked knives on the western market. Any other company would charge $50 $60 more.

Please don't give Joker such ideas. Better hint the other companies to lower their prices. We need to have affordable quality knives on the market.

I just got this knife but in FFG with Olive wood handle. I spoke with Joker Knives and their handles are not stabilized. The wood really comes alive with a nice coating. Great knives for the price!

I have never used True Wood on a knife handle.....have used Lemon oil.....I have the TRAMPERO in olive wood.....and thinking of using your method for a change.... leaves it just a touch darker........thanks for taking the time and doing the video...

#OffgridDreaming That wood is ruddy beautiful and by doing that it's even better! Nice one. How long is the actual knife's cutting edge?

      Hi
Thanks very much. It is beautiful wood and so much better now in every way!
It's a lovely knife all round.
The cutting edge is right on 100mm or 4 inches.
      All the best ✌

the result is great for the wood but you scratched the otherwise very highly polished brass pins. Thanks god you showed a close up so I could see them and I won't make the same mistake. Nice video though

Quick question .....why the steel wool instead of a finer sandpaper ?

    • @offgriddreaming5403
      @offgriddreaming5403  3 роки тому +2

      Hi
I would say you could use a very fine sandpaper, but I personally think steel wool is better for this application, partly because the wool can follow the shape of the handle easier
