We all have narcissistic traits. The question is, is he a narcissist. Which by the way is different than a narcissistic person. A narcissistic man still feels empathy, limited empathy-A narcissist has no empathy, can’t feel it.

Mr. Cruise is not a mental health expert, regardless, and should stick to ACTING. What he did was simply unnecessary and hurtful. He did not win points for his religion; amazing evangelism (lol).

What's interesting with the Aussie clip is how Tom reacted. He was quite rude. He could have simply said - Look the agreement is that we talk about the movie, therefore I'm not prepared to answer that question (about Nicole) - but he didn't, instead he became aggressive and rude. He's not really doing himself any favours....

Hugely in agreement of everything said here.
It could be argued that research on how he behaves on set with colleagues is a separate conversation, however you would then need to look at the justification and that leads to a new rabbit hole in many situations.
The cross analysis of these conversations, however, are succinct and give a fair perspective without deep diving on tangents! 😉

Before I had my B12 diagnosis, I had gone to the doctor saying I thought maybe I was depressed or something because I had no energy... luckily for me, the first thing GPs do in Spain is sent you for a blood test, so the cause of my malaise was identified much quicker than it would have been with the usless NHS.

The useless NHS? The NHS is far from useless. Decimated over years by progressively further to the right Westminster governments who continue to chop it up, sell it off and apparently won't stop until they have completely pillaged & privatised this, once was the envy of the world, fabulous institution. Yes, that is true, but The NHS is certainly not useless.

@Debbie Sunlight A blood test can test for different things. You can get a blood test and then the only thing you hear back about is your cholesterol numbers. Alternatively, you might only hear about your B12 numbers if they think that is more important. I'm not sure if they can even get to everything when using 2 or 3 vials, but I'm pretty sure they don't try to get to everything.
I haven't taken a recent look at some of my more recent test results, but I'm pretty sure they don't include every possible test under the sun.

Depression is exhausting and debilitating to the extent that even if you use will power to try to do things it is impossible to sustain action. Even if you use your therapy and really want to exercise etc you just can’t. Tom cruise needs to spend some time around people who are suffering before he makes judgements about treatment. When you are in a black hole you are desperate to get out and will use all and every means to get out. His comments are glib and unhelpful.

I noticed how the audience seems to be coached to clap excessively when he’s on Graham Norton, same fawning behaviour by audience AND the guests with Taylor Swift the other week. I hate the way he gets treated differently to every other guest. Bruce Springsteen was on the show and did not monopolize the conversation à la Taylor Swift. I don’t think Tom Cruise should have special treatment on these shows, it’s sickening.

It's hard to say what he is. I suspect that he doesn't really have a firm sense of self - and most of what's there has been "programmed" by Scientology. If you were to take him away from that, I can imagine him having something of a breakdown.

I agree with this. He also had a rough childhood with an abusive father. A recipe for a traumatized person and in some cases, a lack of a firm sense of self. NPD is often a mask for deep insecurities and well, a childhood with an abusive family member is definitely grounds for a sense of deep insecurity. No wonder Scientology preyed on him.

Can you really diagnose someone as a narcissist from a short interview? Could it have been a bad day? I knew someone who was an assistant director and worked with Cruise on films in England. He said he is a very nice chap. I’ve known a few narcissists (not diagnosed, but with strong narcissistic traits), and they are unpleasant to be around as their apparent supreme confidence is skin deep. Anyone who threatens their self image is put down, they overreact massively. They also dominate everyone around them.

Sorry to be late to the video discussion. ECT ive seen work effectively only a handful of times. ECT for people experiencing post partum psychosis could be transformative when used at the right time with medication and therapy.
Unfortunately, it was over used in the past as what I can only describe as dehumanising punishment for being part of LBGTQ+ community or having a child out of wedlock.
Much more needs to be done to bring mental health treatments to a safe, evidence based, progressive service available for everyone who needs it regardless of their abilities to finance treatment plans.

I know these are pop psychology terms, but I think of "flying monkey" and "picking up fleas" when I hear of Tom Cruise on Scientology/ psychology. I don't think he has NPD. I bet L. Ron Hubbard did, and David Miscavige does. He fell for their rhetoric, picked up their facade, and wants to work on their behalf. He may have BPD. He seems to be very prone to black and white thinking and to take criticism and disagreement as a personal attack. Yet, he excuses or disbelieves anything negative about certain people.

Anti depressants and especially anti anxiety drugs can cause severe neurological damage that can last years for some. In these cases, there's no help for the patient and they even get blamed when injured.

It may be relevant to consider that he is putting his best foot forward when he shows himself to the public and he still comes off as real nasty. Not everyone is capable of being at their best in front of the cameras (some look even worse), but Cruise is a seasoned professional at this. Even when at his best, it's still apparent that Cruise' concern in various circumstances has little to do with the issue at hand and more to do with his desire to go off the handle.

You're missing the point completely in the first part. In that interview, Cruise just repeated scientology's propaganda about psychiatry word for word. And it makes sense. As a prominent member of the cult, he couldn't allow himself to deviate from the cult's talking points one bit or that would have cause a massive problem. In this context, you just can't use what he said to analyse his personality since it doesn't represent his own thoughts. A more interesting question, I think, would be "what is the mindset of a prominent member of a pseudo-scientific cult". That's a question that would really interest me, but it would probably be very difficult to answer.

No offence, I think you missed a couple things:
    1) The reason Cruise went into Scientology initially was that mainstream medicine basically decided he was a borderline illiterate that suffered with dyslexia so bad he would never do well. Scientology offered a different answer and helped him overcome it, thus he has not just a distrust of mainstream medicine and particularly the psychological aspect, but also a trauma that has only been reinforced by Scientology's innate biases against Psychology and Psychiatry. This trauma combined with radicalisation would, I think, go some way to explain the first interview.
    2) As for the second I think he just behaved incredibly normally. Didn't want his personal stuff bandied about for some guy's interview show and drew a line with just enough force to make clear even a trickster comedian type shouldn't keep pushing.

Having been involved in Psychiatry for 40 years most Patients will tell you they don't like medications especially anti- Psychotics and there is denial of these symptoms by some Psychiatrists despite the manufacturer leaflet that comes with the medication explaining side affects, some psychiatrist are denial of these side affects which is a dishonest thing , i personally had distonic reactions from these medicationsI lost my speech, luckily i had a psychiatrist who agreed that i was having distonic reactions. So my opinion is of Psychiatry some Psychiatrists are are ok but some are very peculiar people with strange views, for instance my friend was murdered in London when i was young, when i explained this to a Psychiatrist he told me that people that kill people are normal, i disagree because most people do NOT Kill people so most people normally do not kill people so , i don't know why he would think killing people was normal.so you do get Psychiatrists with Psychopathic personalitys.Dr Dazz you seem a warm hearted person who talks sense , but not all Psychiatrists are like you , some are very strange peculiar people with strange bizarre views i reported this particulatrsr psychiatrist to the general medical council and i also told the police about him, if it was a normal act to kill people then most people would have a murder conviction and would if caught sent to prison, most people are NOT anti- social social and do not kill people so therefore most people live their lives without killing another person look at any government crime figures in any country the murder rate is tiny so how the Psychiatrist came to the conclusion that killing people is normal beyond me , this particular Psychiatrist was a complete NUTTER.Most people live their normal lives without harming others, it is NOT normal for most people to kill, because people have a conscience and people do not want to harm people , so in my opinion majority of Psychiatrists are ok but you do have some Psychiatrists that are mad.Psychiatru has also a bad record of abuse of vulnrrable people, and patients are reguarly abused in Psychiatric hospital , i have witnessed this abuse myself, so Psychiatry is not in my opinion a trustworthy profession.

I feel that people like Tom Cruise are a rare breed of hothouse flower anymore, in a way. He's been surrounded by a bubble of YES people for years and years and years of his life now, and probably can't even conceive of being challenged. Like EVER. On anything. Megastars at his level (and they do seem to be a dying breed, don't they?) win at everything they do and are extremely careful about what they show the public, especially on TV. Don't want to show any cracks. Nothing unexpected. In fact, I would've thought for sure the interviewers would have had to sign an agreement well beforehand that only certain types of questions could be asked - and, to me, that's fair! Asking in advance to not be questioned about your personal life if you're doing a press junket for your new film or whatever seems reasonable, and if an interviewer goes out of bounds to ask anyway - sure, would be quite rude. Not sure whether we know if anything like that might've been going on behind the scenes in these instances, though. I think Tom is a control freak where his image is concerned, and his people certainly would've had everyone and their dog sign an agreement before he even set foot on the set. Because he can.
This is not necessarily to defend him. I often wonder what happened to Katie Holmes and his daughter Suri, what the real details were behind why they fled, and if Tom actually does give a good GD about Suri. There have been plenty of ugly rumors for sure about how Tom's Scientology beliefs have more or less made him dismiss her as lost to him (what was it they were referred to as? Counterproductive or problematic to the "cause" or whatever?), though it's nice to see that they've allowed themselves to be caught in public together recently, so as far as we know, maybe they're reconnecting. I truly hope for all the best for both Katie and Suri in the wake of all that craziness with Tom.
I don't think he can help but be a narcissist, because again - he's heard nothing but YES for most of his life, and has had people waiting on him around the clock for anything he could possibly want. How do you NOT deveop an inflated sense of self-importance from that?....ON THE OTHER HAND - what separates him, I feel, from a true pos narcissist is that Tom has actually worked for what he's got. There is no denying that. Many narcissists are slimy frauds who blow up their achievements or even flat out lie about them to make themselves look better than they are (I'd call Michael Jackson one of these - I really think he was talented, but it was all overblown when he was actually trained to lie about anything he needed to to protect his image. He named HIMSELF the "King of Pop", for instance, among many other self-aggrandizing statements and stunts he put out there for his adoring fans to eat up. Tom Cruise can rant on and on about his wacky religious beliefs, but you can only call the sky green and the grass purple for so long before people start to see you're desperate and full of shit). Tom Cruise works his ass off and it shows.
Just my completely uneducated and unqualified opinions, though, all of these! I just love observing human behavior and trying to figure out what makes people tick, and it's just how this looks to me. Thank you for another thought provoking vid! :)

I'm sick and tired of people passing judgment on Tom Cruise based on videos they have seen. I know people who have worked with Tom Cruise and none of them have a bad word to say about him!!!

@@karunaraina8842 Well the thing is.... You don't have the right to tell someone to study up on some one before expressing their opinion. That's absolutely ridiculous. I also disagree with what was said about Michael Jackson AND whole heartedly disagree with your take on Tom Cruise. Still, everyone is allowed their own opinion.

@@Julia-uh4li The person who gave the opinion is the one who claims to be uneducated on the matter, so it's a natural response to suggest that they do their research 🤣🤣
