Great Documentary. I signed up for my first Ultra last week. Mine will be nothing compared to this, but this was extremely inspirational. You captured this event masterfully!
Former Desert RAT here - I loved this - it was so well done and truly captures the essence of the experience of getting to the end of yourself to find yourself! So great to see Liz, Mikie, Ulla, KRay, and of course, Reid and Kyla!!! We're retired from ultras now, but hope to see y'all at the trail running festival soon. Once a Desert RAT, always a Desert RAT!!
Glad you commented! I think there's a lot of "humaness" (maybe not a word haha) that comes out and comes across at these endurance events. It's a profound feeling that I think anyone who has been to an ultraendurance event comes a way with (participant, crew member, or spectator)
@Chris Ward couldn't agree more...but after I wrote my comment I started to think how wonderful it would be if those ethics/moral compass/dedication/sensitivity would cross over to the world at large!
@@steveedwards7883 I definitely see what you're saying but I truly think that positivity and inspiration is always around us if we are keeping our eyes open to it!
This video brought tears to my eyes I love fruita and I am proud of living here and glad I choose ultra running at such a young age of 18 there so many races even in just this town I'm hyped for the 100k in April
The intro speech is an excellent description of why so many people do run ultras or even marathons. Sure there are the people who want to be the best or the person who wants to test the limits of humans, but then there's the people are have so many demons and they want to drag them through the wringer.
I'm 75, a Veteran, Army and Air Force Rescue and run half marathons, but often wonder if I'm crazy. But this event is scary, I almost collapsed watching it. Thanks.
Hey, I'm in that video!!! What a great race that year. Thanks to all the volunteers and race staff and the video crew! This is a race that cannot be described in a video or in words, but this video comes the closest.
This has to be the best ultra running documentary I've ever watched (and I watch a lot of them). I woke up this morning in immediate pain in lower back and hip. This film was in my watch later que & thought it wound be a good idea to watch since I can't really move at all today. Glad I did. The tears came. The human spirit is amazing despite tragedies and tough times. My goal is to run an ultra someday if I can get my creaky old body in better shape. Very well done, guys and thank you. 👍
Wow! This gave me chills! Definitely chase that ultra goal! I promise you it'll be worth every step of the process. I wish you the very best on your journey!
Thanks Jimmy, it was such a wonderful experience being a small part in the creation of this film, but I think the real kudos go to the racers. They are the true heroes!
Love this movie! It shows the true spirit of the ultra-running community. I cried when Jason was in his last few miles. I'm a member of RWB as well so I was rooting for him the whole time. Very beautiful creation here.
What a great movie! Very moving stories. Congratulations to all the racers. For each racer there are 11 million Americans that wouldn't attempt such a crazy race.
The range of people in this is just inspiring and what a beautiful amazing tough bunch of people.Fact that they continue even after suffering so bad is something else.
I cried through pretty much the whole movie! "Sometimes the best place to be is focusing on someone other than yourself" -Jeff This is a perfect summary of all the stories told in this film and the comradery displayed through these racers. Thank you for all the work poured into this and for sharing these beautiful stories!
Oh I loved watching this video! Absolutely awesome! Congratulations to all the super strong & courageous men & women participating in this grueling event! 💪🏻
In order to be a long way from nowhere, you have to be in the middle of somewhere. So, I would have to say, downtown Manhattan, roughly the physical center of the largest city in the world by land mass, would be a long way from nowhere, because everywhere you turn, you're somewhere. This video on the other hand, demonstrates the opposite, a long way from somewhere.
Great Documentary. I signed up for my first Ultra last week. Mine will be nothing compared to this, but this was extremely inspirational. You captured this event masterfully!
40:24 the statement she makes about how time moves slower when you’re young and how you can capture that again by experiencing new things is so great.

The filming and editing is phenomenal deserves to be picked up by BBC immediately!!
That is mighty kind of you to say. It was certainly a pleasure working alongside this talented group of filmmakers.
Great storytelling…thanks!
I rarely comment...but this is EXACTLY what ultras should be about!!!

That was amazing to watch!!
What a great movie! Very moving stories. Congratulations to all the racers. For each racer there are 11 million Americans that wouldn't attempt such a crazy race.
Loved it. The highs and lows of multi day racing is something else. Hearing Jason talk the morning of day 5 got me choked up.
Agreed!
The way he says "because they feel alone" has so much passion, empathy and shared pain, it still makes me tear up. I love that guy!
This was great!
The range of people in this is just inspiring and what a beautiful amazing tough bunch of people.Fact that they continue even after suffering so bad is something else.
The grit and determination is inspiring. It makes me want to get out and do something out of my comfort zone.
I just completed my 2nd marathon 12 days ago and they nothing to what these guys did.
Watching from the UK, great production, thanks to all the runners and people who made this happen

You are an inspiration Tim. Watching you persevere and push through self doubt to not only finish, but to win the whole thing. Truly in awe!

Awesome video. Very inspiring, especially Jason's return and completion.
Couldn't agree more!
I'm not doing Ultras at this point..simple dirt road 5ks near my home..the wilderness calms.... 👟 📱
Great film. All the kudos.

Was this the movie that was on Netflix awhile back?
In order to be a long way from nowhere, you have to be in the middle of somewhere. So, I would have to say, downtown Manhattan, roughly the physical center of the largest city in the world by land mass, would be a long way from nowhere, because everywhere you turn, you're somewhere. This video on the other hand, demonstrates the opposite, a long way from somewhere.
I took it as it is not nowhere and it is a far way from being nowhere because of all the relationships you make and all the things you learn
On day 2 in the middle of that heat I felt like I was a long way from nowhere, somewhere and anywhere.
Meh. Not everyone who runs ultras is "broken". Lost me in the intro.
Running is keeping me sane these days 💯❤️
