We have a choquette tree that turned brown and black. Lost all its leaves. I gave it some quick start and that did not help. We also have a superhass that’s doing great. Both trees were planted in November.
I used this method to cured my bacon tree, Its my understanding that commercial growers treat their trees through injecting the product. Small trees, you can just spray all the leaf surface a couple of times in the morning, spring and fall...... Support my channel ,,, Please subscribe! Hit the like and SUBSCRIBE BUTTON!
Jeff approximately how much time passed between treatment until you noticed new growth flushing from your tree ? I have a Stewart that is just sitting there and not doing anything. A couple weeks ago I drenched the soil and leaves like you described but I still haven’t seen any change in the tree yet.
I drenched this one last fall and early spring . Until a month ago, I wasn’t sure how well it worked as this is a systemic treatment and new roots must grow first. From my research , you must spray the tree at the right time. I read that ideal time is during the spring growth flush. You also have to spray all surfaces of the leaf. You also may have to spray several times to achieve the desired results! Good luck and Happy growing!
The best time is not during any leaf flush otherwise the phosphonate ends up in the leaves not the roots. Best application time is after the leaves have stopped growing and hardened usually end of fall and winter, that's when the roots are growing.
Thank you. I will try this. I have an 8 ft avocado that I watered too much over the winter, and it started to die back. I don't know what I was thinking.
Good morning, Jeff hope all is well. Will this product kill the good micros and the good bacteria in the soil. Have an Oro Negro in a 25ga. pot since spring after it flower but has not put out new leaves. It didn't produce any avocado this year. Like to know your comments. Thank you Regards.
Hi Bob, I honestly don’t know. From what I was told , it stimulates some type of immune response. But if concerned, more research may be needed. They are other UA-cam videos that explain it
Hi Jeff. I just bought this for my pants. The manual is not very concise. What quatity/how/frequency did you useI. I have a 2 year old Avo Grande I just uppotted to a 13 gallons. The leaves/branches started to droop 2 days ago. Thanks for your prompt response.
Drooping seems to indicate over watering. I like to restrict water a little after winter so that the tree sends out more roots. As far as garden phos, I follow the instructions. There are commercial application videos out there.
I planted an avocado tree about a month ago, zone 9a. It’s very hot and unseasonably rainy, and I think my tree is struggling. The leaves are drooping severely and starting to fall off. I pulled it up and replanted in a pot to move into shade and put on the patio during rain, but it’s doing no better and the leaves are still falling. Is there anything I can do?
Hard to say. But in the past when simular things happen to my cado trees. I repot them using cactus mix and cut the tree wayyyy back but above graft point
Have you tried garden phos on new growth/leaves? Wondering if there is a risk of burning a new summer flush of leaves, which I have, but the plant is also suffering from overwatering and root rot and produces few leaves, and they are small.
Hi there I have a 15 gal that I bought and seems like I have root rot. I bought the garden phos but how do you apply it? It says foliar spray but I kinda wanted to mix in a bucket and pour around the truck of the tree
Thank you. I'm in Webster Texas. One of my avacados branches are turning a dark brown. The other still looks good but I wanted an opinion to correct what I should do so that the other plant doesnt begin to die as well. Can I save the othe plant w the brown branches? Can you do a video on how you plant a avacado from a seed?
Hard to say without seeing tree. With root rot ,the whole tree wilts then dies back. If in a pot, I usually repot with fresh soil . Outdoors I’ll spray with garden phos following instructions on the bottle.
I have a Carmen and Gem that got scolded by the sun about three weeks ago. They have not grown at all. My Kona Sharwil’s got scolded too but they have come back. My Carmen leaves seem to be browning and dropping off. Should I apply? Will it hurt the tree if it is not suffering from root rot? They are small trees. Carmen is 1 foot and Gem is about two feet.
Okay so the name of the game is patience then. There’s no die back but there’s also no growth either even after applying fertilizer a couple different times. The tree was bought at mimosa LA nursery and was growing in the compost type growing mix so I think that’s were the problem starts.
Yes the compost type potting soil is great for growers who want to keep shipping rates down.... On other thing you can try.... stop watering for a couple weeks, then put a drip on it... sometimes that encourages new growth if its doesn’t already have root rot
Hi Helen to save a tree with root rot a lot of folks including Jeff have used a product called garden phos made by Monterey chemical. I called the phone number on the back of the bottle and talked to a representative from the company. He said to use 2 ounces of garden phos to a gallon of water for root drenching. Jeff mentioned in his video that he applied two applications once in the fall and then again in the spring.
Hi Jeff my name is Jorge and I planted two avocado trees from a seed and at first it was OK leaves left and right and all of a sudden it started to loose one by one next thing I know the tip of the tree started to get black what should I do? I'm so clueless please help
Why is nobody talking about how to treat the fungus on the leaves it's like a mildew that's why I'm here and that's what I want fixed am I the only one who needs this video made because I don't like reading for plant.
@@TropicalGardenGuy So I think I got it figured out the seller tells me to acclimate to being outdoors more and the mildew was just a fda approved spray and that ships.
1. Medical issues, 2. Laziness, 3. Didnt know about Garden Phos until fairly recently..... Now I plant on raise beds so its not an issue for new trees.
HEY NOW!!!! lol a little close to home...jk I changed my video title from cure to help...got a few angry messages just a tip. man your moving did you start buying google adds or what?

Thanks for the advice😊

All good, looks to have set 10 fruits!

It’s my understanding that best to apply when roots are rapidly growing. But I’d follow the instructions on label
Raul Casas. -- WHERE did you get your GEM??
@@debrahurtado5491 I was in the Bay Area once and called a place called Golden Gate Palms. They happened to have one so I took it. I paid like $150.
@@raulcasas4548 Good for you!! Those are the BEST. Hard to find!
Does anyone know at which rate i should apply for root rot. My tree has no leaves left on it so a spray app probably won't be effective.
You have to inject a tree when no leaves

Hard to say without seeing the trees , but sounds like root rot to me. When that happens with seedling I start over
I started growing one of these and there was a medium sized crack in just one day!
What was the product name and you purchased from
I use a product called garden phos. I think I got it off Amazon
What is garden phos? It's like phofate rich??
From internet……45.8% mono & di-potassium salts of Phosphorouos Acid.
Thanks, Jeff! My avocado that I sprouted started to rot :( I'm trying to save it now.
Is it young?
@@TropicalGardenGuy Yes it is. About a year and half old.
In the ground or in a pot?
@@TropicalGardenGuy It’s in a pot indoors. I’m thinking I’m going to get some anti-fungal for it?
How is you young tree doing with this fungus product ? All the leaves have fallen from my young avocado tree 🥲
