    Impressive on all levels, design, aesthetic, practically. What a beautiful home. Originally, I came to the channel for the architecture and am staying for the banter. I was at the NGA and didn't want to intrude on your family time, Kevin. I wanted to say thank you so much for introducing me to the finer details of architecture.

    Best ever! Thanks @archimarathon and @maynardarchitect for the opportunity to tour the house and be apart of the video :) !! and for anyone reading this, believe me, the house is SO much better in real life. The level of detail, both liveable and in ornamentation, is incredible. The feeling IRL of this project is revitalising and rejuvenating. I love it :)

      Privacy. But at least we did our job so you can understand the whole building and know what you have missed out on. Try that on other channels of just pretty, disconnected visuals.

    Quite a stunning little urban gem! Very clever use of space where space is so limited. I love the cabinetary details the chamfered trims around the glazing and doors. The entry garden portal is a true oasis and really doubles the size of the building even though square footage has been removed. Chain-link very playfully used, urban yet elegant, love it! Bravo.

    Lovely...I like taking what's old and making new again. In the cities that's what's need. Instead of tearing down old structures. It's wonderful what you have done. Beautiful home.

    Amazing film, Kevin & incredible imagination from the AMA team. It never ceases to impress me the power of architecture and how it can transform a home. A true delight to the senses, and to the community of Fitzroy.

    That was a very interesting tour! Very tasteful, love to details and lots of greenery!! I like the enhancements of the timber wood all over and the endless storage solutions. But once in the master bedroom I was quite taken by the “green carpet” combined with the pink duvets on the bed 😅 interesting! Well done Andrew, my thumbs 👍🏼👍🏼 are both up!

      Only one of the owners is of a Chinese heritage, born and bred in Australia. The house is passive designed and we practise circular economy-disappointed that the worm farm or the old wheelbarrow were not featured. We work locally, shop locally, eat locally, support small local businesses, cycle and walk to work and use PT other times (excepts for going to Bunnings for cow manure…). We harvest almost daily from our veggie patch and still have enough to share with our neighbours. It’s a pre existing dual fuel stove (gas and electric) designed into the new house. Sustainability is more than an electric stove.

    • @hiltong9481
      @hiltong9481 3 місяці тому

      @xiaoranDing. Race has nothing do with it ! Gas currently leaves a substantially smaller carbon footprint than electricity (at our expense). Research it for yourself !

    • @XiaoranDing
      @XiaoranDing 7 днів тому

      @@Still_NoNamethat’s fantastic! BTW the last comment was only a joke with absolutely no offense. As an architect myself, most of our clients want gas for cooking and hot water but we get smashed every single time at the Design Excellence Panel of not providing electric cooktop. Totally agreed that sustainability could be achieved through many other ways!

    What a great home and use of space. I really love that you didn’t tear it down and build new. Here in the states it seems to be the way because “builders” don’t see things creatively and people tent to not use architects unless building new. I’m in the process of renovating my early 1900s cape and reusing as much as possible - salvaging pine floors and trim for cabinetry and using the broken plaster as a wall treatment like mosaic tile for texture in specific areas. Oh, and I subscribed!

      It is truely amazing how the appearance of the clients, lead to them being labeled as ‘Chinese’ as the reason for the ‘shoes-off’ house, the reason for the study, and in a separate comments for other items in the house. The truth is that race had nothing to do with the wonderful design of the house, the way the clients live, nor the very common inclusion of a study in the house of any Australian home. All that from one sentence in the video of ‘What the clients are’ racially Cannot imaging what they or anyone else with colour have to put up with in life ! C’est la vie ! - just an expression, no racial stereotype intended.
