God bless Joe Clark and Rest In Peace. A true icon in our profession of teaching. His influences despite being old in their methods, will forever be respected.
I watched this movie when I was a kid and thought it was ok, inspirational maybe. Now as 46 year old I watch this clip and realize that the rigorous honesty that Mr. Clark is showing this kid is real love, and that this is the first time this character ever experienced that. Really loving other people changes lives and lifts them up and that's what we should all do.

This is a picture of true leadership and the epitome of “toughly experience”! He gives these students respect for themselves and each other. I love the transformation of this school. Then disgruntled parents of the kids that were kicked out of school want to arrest him for locking the kids in, which wasn’t his primary reason for locking the doors, but to keep out the thugs and drug dealers out.
How can anyone not be a fan of Morgan Freeman !? He absolutely nails heavy scenes like this each and every time. Most actors would just not seem as real n convincing as this.
I found this VHS at my grandma's house when I was a kid. Had no idea what it was but damn it was intense. I had a lot of respect for Mr. Clark because I knew first hand how kids act when there's no structure and no one willing to put their foot down and lead by example. When you see that the BOSS isn't gonna budge then you either fail out or fall in line. My favorite part of this film was seeing the halls all cleaned up and hearing the new high school anthem. These kids gained respect for their Principal and their school but more importantly, respect for themselves and each other.
In the In Living Color parody, Joe Clark is sent to run a beauty school and he berates a student for using products on his hair and forces him to admit that he's ugly and that his parents are ugly as well and has no business telling anyone how to be beautiful while the student cries just like in this scene.

You picked the silliest lens to look at this video through. Yeah, let's look at the kid who is surviving a poor socioeconomic environment and take away his education. While we're at it, lets take away all his rights, that'll teach him to not be poor.
@@cloverjoker But it's true. Look at India for example. School is not guaranteed for children there. Children there want to go because they know the value. Same with Africa. That's why kids over there are way more advanced in school subjects.

I mean, in watching the show, and my experience dealing with different kinds of people, I would guess maybe like %0.0001 of the population(nationally, so like maybe tens of thousands across all of America, aka a very miniscule amount) actually digest those experiences the way it's supposed to. But for almost every other kid put through them it just doesn't fucking work.
Pretty powerful movie. Loved watching this in high school
God bless Joe Clark and Rest In Peace. A true icon in our profession of teaching. His influences despite being old in their methods, will forever be respected.
This is one of my favorite scenes, a real dose of reality
I watched this movie when I was a kid and thought it was ok, inspirational maybe. Now as 46 year old I watch this clip and realize that the rigorous honesty that Mr. Clark is showing this kid is real love, and that this is the first time this character ever experienced that. Really loving other people changes lives and lifts them up and that's what we should all do.
"Let Me Tell You Something, The Trouble With Being A Teenager Is You Don't Know Nothin!!!!
The Problem With Teenagers Is You Think You're Smarter Than People Who've Already Been Down The Road You're Traveling!!!!"
Joe Clark Don't Play That Shit
#💯
Thats too real💯
I've loved this movie since I was nine years old. This is what amazing acting looks like
This is a picture of true leadership and the epitome of “toughly experience”! He gives these students respect for themselves and each other. I love the transformation of this school. Then disgruntled parents of the kids that were kicked out of school want to arrest him for locking the kids in, which wasn’t his primary reason for locking the doors, but to keep out the thugs and drug dealers out.
I need this as a ringtone “You smoke crack don’t ya?!” On a loop
Thomas Sims had allot of HEART to ask to get back into school!!
He had too.. didn't U just hear him.. his home life was ef up.. like a good third of our youth are today
@@alliwishis2652 or crazy. Perhaps a bit of both
He really does care
Unfortunately, the real Mr. Clark has recently passed away
RIP Joe Louis Clark 1937-2020
He knew his moms woulda busted him in his shit if he went and told her that
If The Goonies had been an all black cast, this kid would have played Chunk.
They cry the same 🤣😭
We definitely need more principles like him in these schools today.
Those teachers are gone
If principals are like him today
Principal : "Now jump!"
Boy : *actually jumps*
Yeah with a bunch a kids jumpin off rooftops.. nigga you stupid
Unfortunately, they would be treated by the same people that were trying to get Mr. Clark out.
Question. Did he make sams a better person and turn that school around for the better yes or no?
u tryin to con a con man
Lmfao 😂💀
I used that on my ex when I caught her cheating and she tried to lie her way out of it.
He used to smoke crack too
Now I can get you anything but I ain't getting you crack! Now how about Raquel Welsh?
How can anyone not be a fan of Morgan Freeman !? He absolutely nails heavy scenes like this each and every time. Most actors would just not seem as real n convincing as this.
We watched this in my junior year of high school. I remember everyone saying “You smoke crack don’t ya” for weeks 😂
I watched it in 6th grade then again in my senior year of high school.
“Go on.. jump” 😂 omg.... One of my fav movies 🎥. Jersey..... 🦾
This was an extremely powerful movie during it's time...
Its
I found this VHS at my grandma's house when I was a kid.
Morgan never acts man hes just that OG I swear
The world needs more leaders like this. If more men/woman gave teens/young adults the blunt honesty that he did, the world would be a better place.
Absolutely one of my favorite movies of all time. 😎
T.I. should have Morgan Freeman on the "ExpediTIously" podcast. After all, he made the word famous before T.I. did
Damn good point! First time I ever heard the word.
TI actually shared a story about Freeman on his podcast with 21 Savage. He cost him a movie role lol
@@darnell7871 loser
Morgan freeman don’t like T.I
Yooo what if T.I. watched this film and fell in love with this word 😂. What if Morgan Freeman influences TI more than we know lol
Some scenes just live forever. This is one of em.
“Tomas Sams Thomas Sams... cutting class and smoking crack, no mistake” *close book*
Can't hide your sins from either God or Joe Clark!
Mr. Clark knew the kid was as good as back in the class room and trying again as soon as he saw him. The rest was just for effect.
Every child/teenager needs to watch this at least 5 times before they turn 18.
"Don't f*** around with it, go on and do it expeditiously. NOW GO ON AND JUMP! JUMP!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
No I Don't Wanna Jump

Morgan Freeman is one of my all time favorite actors ! He's simply amazing !!
In the In Living Color parody, Joe Clark is sent to run a beauty school and he berates a student for using products on his hair and forces him to admit that he's ugly and that his parents are ugly as well and has no business telling anyone how to be beautiful while the student cries just like in this scene.
Wait you serious? wow that shit must've been funny.
Wow!

I was lucky enough to have a few teachers in my life that had the balls to talk to me like this. I’d like to believe it made a difference. I hope it did.
"You're trying to con a con man" I've had so much use out of that phrase over the last 30yrs. Awesome film. I first saw this on sky movies here in the UK when it first became available but have never seen it on TV since, Which is a shame given all the crap that's on TV nowadays. Thank god for VHS and then dvd.
Sams was the only one out of all the students that were thrown out that came back to redeem himself.
Definitely one of many favorite scenes in the movie.
This is a best movie 😎💯👍
Sometimes his words just hypnotize me.
Man i had mentors like this who brought me to tears

Boy do we need more of this these days!
When being in school was considered a privilege, not just a right. When something is "free" people do not appreciate it properly.
AMEN!!!!!!!!
These kids walk miles to get to a crowded, dilapidated classroom for the chance at an education so that they might escape the cycle that so many get stuck in. That's why kids over there are way more advanced in school subjects.
OK this is the watered-down UA-cam version.
When this came out in theaters back in the day, Morgan Freeman threw that kid off the roof.
😭
Wow bro

Then how did he come back alive?
