P&D driver here. Keep up the positive attitude and I always appreciate the waves. It’s not always easy but it’s worth it.
As a Logistics Officer for a Distribution Warehouse I find it always interesting too see the drivers point of view. You have a new sub now and I will bing too get myself up too speed.
Welcome to the community 👊🏻
I used drive a 22 ft box catering truck in my younger days, and was proficient enough to back it up to a DC-10 without damage, but when I changed jobs and tried a semi, that additional pivot point was something I could never manage while backing up. You, sir, make it look so easy! :)
I appreciate that Mark 👍🏻
It's really not that hard and longer the trailer the easier it is to back up. Most people try to guide the trailer but you let the trailer guide in and work with it
@@Unknown_Ooh wrong, a real driver is gonna have control and GUIDE that trailer
well, some are just not ment to back up a semi. you tried and learned where your skills lie at.
@@TheTulsaTrucker 13:00 Do they require training and licenses for Forktruck drivers there? It looks like no with that guy who clearly has no idea what he is doing or how to do it safely!
23:10 Same!
Also dont all the carrier docs state they are not responsible for any damage/loss? :)
You're 100% correct on the fact that regulars are quicker and more efficient than newbies. I have a great relationship with my LTL drivers . They know exactly what to do even if I'm swamped. Shout out to all LTL drivers!
UA-cam randomly suggested this and I have to say I’m glad it did. I’m a fellow P&D driver from north of the border in the Canadian Maritimes. I’ve been doing it for 5 years now. Best trucking job I’ve ever had.
It’s great to see someone who seems to love the job as much as I do. So many guys up here just don’t want to do it. I’m one of only 3 in our terminal that covers 2 whole provinces. I’m looking forward to catching up on your back catalogue of videos.
Welcome to then channel driver. Glad to have you 👊🏻
Always cool to see places I recognize in your videos. Been a resident of the area all my life, and most of my jobs have involved running deliveries or service calls in NE Oklahoma. Going back to OTR flatbed, step deck, RGN oversized in about a month after 20 months off on medical leave.
I ALMOST went to work for Estes, as a P&D driver in eastern Wisconsin, earlier this year. Fortunately for me, my company saw the light and made some changes to the schedule, so I stayed put. It's HARD to move on when you've been at a place for 10 years! I have to say though, after watching this video and recalling what the terminal manager told me, Estes looks like a decent place to work!
You are a very informative speaker, and good driver, with an encouraging energy/bright ora!
Thank you for your service to this country, and your helpful video🌞!
First time viewer. Happy to see no profanity was used. Quite the opposite. Very professional. I subscribed and liked the video. Thank you. It was enjoyable.
I have never worked in a warehouse let alone drive a forklift or a semi or anything but just through this one video it looks like a lot of fun!
Thank you, Chuck, You made my day!!! Lol You made me cry!! Chavez Tucson AZ!!
I'm so glad you r going back to line haul you seem to be much more happier!
Better money less stress more independent
Great job you sure take me back a few years I tell ya, in the 70's when I used to do P&D
Just came across your video, brings back memories of when I drove LTL back in the eighties. Really enjoyed it, keep it up.
Thanks for stopping by the channel driver
Hello Chuck. Glad to see you're doing well. Hope you had a great weekend.
Thanks Junior, you as well sir!! 👊🏻
Fire engine, “Crash” truck (volunteer rescue squad) or a ladder truck forwards or backwards, piece of cake. Ladder truck front cab or tiller I’m okay with. But, backing a tractor trailer-nope. I tried it for two weeks one summer and I was informed at the end of two weeks that I made more friends as people would gather at the loading docks to laugh at me as I took more attempts than anyone before. I finally just pulled around the building and someone with a forklift would have to help me. I moved on to working as a fishing guide in Yellowstone National Park for the remainder of the summer. I really enjoyed the guide job.
Good afternoon Chuck. Your video are very interesting. When you go back on the road I will miss you doing p & D. Just enjoy the way you do things. Have a great day.
💯🤔 I was just thinking with all my years of experience truck driving. I don't know nothing, cuz I never drove a truck but I enjoy watching your videos.👊🏼🤣🤣🤣
That's what I say Chuck, I can barely back my way into my easy chair, much less back a 53' trailer around blind corners into docks with ~2' of clearance either side. :)
Love the videos sir! Been following you since the Black Mamba. BTW - I still have my Camaro but I bought my first Corvette earlier this year, a 2014 3LT Z51 Convertible. I've had it 8 months and have put 10k miles on it already, just enjoying the world out of it!
Congratulations on the Corvette, they’re definitely allot of fun!! I appreciate you following along sir 👊🏻
I can't get over how fast that single axle daycab can whip that trailer either way. I'm so used to looking in the mirrors of a 3 axle sleeper. Makes me dizzy just watching.
😵💫😄
Hi Chuck. Nice video. There's always something to learn on your channel.
Got hired at OD with my permit and have now been on my own for about a month. Pretty rough when every stop is unknown 😂. Google maps satellite and walking in from the street helps a ton. Loving it so far but P&D in SoCal with a 53 or even a 48 is tough.
Hay Chuck enjoying the videos . Thanks for posting my last Yellow truck was 2004
Glad u doing great miss your corvette content just recently retired from a trucking company 37 yrs of service
Had a great time with the corvettes hope to get back into one in the future 👍🏻
Just recently found your channel and have watched a few videos. Really cool to see how the driver see things.
Welcome to the channel glad to have you following along
Bro as a shipper it’s so nice to have the same driver’s so easy what picking up or dropping off you don’t. Look BLO and all the numbers all the time
Videos like this are very informative versus watching the same old crud I like to learn different things that not everybody knows it gives me more knowledge thank you
wonderfully done, thanks.
I'm fascinated by the way you figure out how to get into a place you never been to
Welcome back chuck you been laying low lol
Hey Chuck, Just dropping by, I have to tell you I am that person that has a hard time backing my ZR1 into a parking spot, but the front cameras are a wonderful thing,, keep up the good work I respect what you do.!
My good friend Randy!! It’s awesome to hear from you. Hope life is going well for you! Glad to hear the ZR1 is in good hands and you are enjoying it, I definitely did. Take care sir!
New sub here , I like your videos, it transported me back when I used to do P&D hazmat loads.
Welcome to the channel glad to have you sir!
Just subbed and love the videos and positive gestures. Truly great guy
Welcome to the channel, very honored to have you follow along.
Hey Chuck, stopping by from a long hiatus of UA-cam and recently finding this new channel from your Corvette channel. So happy to hear you're doing well and excited to follow along with your new adventures.

I had a huge Snap On Chip Foose autographed, custom painted tool box that was a drawing winner, one of 10 in the country on my deliveries one day. You know it had 2 fork holes, 1 in the front, 1 in the back, and the front corner crushed in. It was valued way over $10 grand. Don't know how that was resolved, but I never saw another shipment. Of course the guy refused it after a long string of phone calls. It was also a residential delivery in a not so great place for a truck. I'm sure Rob Estes enjoyed that info...
“Caution This Vehicle makes wide turns”. In Australia our sign say “Do not overtake turning Vehicle”. Which basically amounts to the same thing. Stay Safe Trucker.
Hey Chuck, Another great video. I saw you today driving past I was going to try and stop ya and meet you but I missed you coming back from dropping off a delivery.
I have people stop me from time to time definitely say night if you ever see me again. Always cool meeting people who follow the vlog.
Great video as always 👍
Thanks Ryan 👊🏻
HEY CHUCK....hope all is well....waiting for next video...lol....been watching old videos to pass time...cheers
Hey Chuck, thanks for the shoutout to Canfield Ohio. I don’t work for Estes but Canfield is in my backyard.
Wow...What a great video...Thank you.
wow, you talk exactly like an american trucker, and thats a compliment, i think im gonna be sticking artound for a while
Hey Chuck thank you for posting the videos about Estes because of you i decided to apply for a dock worker position at my closest terminal and was able to get it. My orientation is tomorrow with my eventual goal to be getting my CDL through the company and become a P&D driver or maybe linehaul i haven't decided just yet but please do keep making amazing content.
Welcome to the Estes Family sir. Days will be ruff but stick with it, the reward is worth it! 👊🏻
God Bless you Chuck you are special! Love your videos!!
Thanks Chuck!
👊🏻
Hey Chuck. Really appreciate your videos and you as a person.
I appreciate that sir
Hi Chuck. Yep nothing worse than passing up the driveway you need to get to the customer . Not easy to get turned around sometimes.
With that little lull in the videos being posted, I thought maybe you jumped ship to Fed Ex too… Just kidding. Good stuff as usual!
😂😂
Those Tulsa roads can take a toll on a driver. I used to run a bread route over there in a 53 foot dry van. Those roads left me feeling sore every day. I run into Springfield Missouri now and much better road systems. Love the videos and actually might be heading to Central Transport to do P&D.
Brillant Video as always, I do the same type of work here in the UK
Thanks Kelvin, I appreciate you following the channel and dropping a comment. 👊🏻
Hey chuck i just graduated cdl school today I passed my test yesterday. Picking up my cdl A tomorrow I’m excited. I’ve been watching your videos for awhile. I enjoy the content keep it up 🙂

Hello chuck thought you were quitting trucking I’m glad you are still trucking love your videos
Just OTR living in a truck wasn’t for me.
I work for Old Dominion, been with them for the past 13 years PnD . Great company 🤙🏻
Terminal 055 is right near the old circle k convenience store, I miss working at that store. I got to see a bunch of great Estes drivers every night.
Dream job for me, just need a little more experience! Thanks for what you do Mr Chuck
All in good time sir, you will get there 👊🏻
I had a milling machine delivered, nervous driver wanted me to sign before unloading, sight unseen. I refused we went back and forth, neither budging.
I went in house , returned with my ammo!!! A frosty Gatorade and small pouch of beef jerky, and offered it to driver. Mill on skid was lowered for my Full and complete inspection, and the driver also went beyond curbside delivery requirements, and helped get 2000Lb Mill up the drive and into the garage. Jerky is GOLD .😋
Hope you have a great week I'm here at home in Virginia watching it rain
I appreciate that Michael 👊🏻
As good as always
Thanks Ian 👊🏻
When I go somewhere new I park in the truck middle of the way and go find someone they tend to help out faster in my opinion
36 years ben baking them rigs and still going great video
From Boardman, Ohio and heard Canfield lol. But anyways Chuck I enjoy your videos as one day I want to drive for Estes and hopefully get to do what you do.
I start estes next week as a driver trainee I've been watching your vids a lot lately to get ready 👍👍
Welcome and much success
11:55 i unload trucks at work at when you were pushing something that heavy toward an open door without a dock i was cringing lol Im used to the trailer being on an incline in the dock so going toward the door is slightly downhill.
If I owned a trucking company I would love to have a great driver like u. Good job
I appreciate that Thomas
Also, This Guy is the exception, not the rule, sadly. I was a manger with a major LTL company for decades, and any LTL company would want this man desperately!!!!
The UA-cam recommendations brought me here
I have no interest in becoming a truck driver (my stress meter already maxes out with me doing things that won’t kill anyone if i do screw up badly)
And when i would go for a wander off campus when i was at college (i would go for a wander when i had nothing else to do), there was a place that i would often walk past that sometimes had a truck parked in the entrance from the main road (presumably for making a delivery), i would make sure that there was no one in the cab before walking past it, since because trucks here don’t have a “nose”, i am pretty certain i would be in a blind spot
Used to drive for a "hot shot" company called Cap Logistics -- best job I ever had.
Pretty much my life in one way shape or form for 40 years 28 of those at the same company until I was medically retired with a heart failure diagnosis 2 years ago 6 days from today. Not so much electronics ( small family operated outfit so if it ain't broke don't fix it) but getting by with the dog-eared Chicago Tribune map book and 2 way/CB radio to my smartphone taking care of both.
Damndest thing is there's still a lot of days I miss climbing up into that truck and heading out on the road for the day though I will admit on those subzero January February mornings I do pull those covers back over me and offer up a good humored well it sucks to be you today fellas to my former coworkers though God love em if they're in the area on a slow day they'll stop by for a quick check in and a how you doing.
Edit: subscribed
Nice video! I drive for Frontier in Manitoba. I do winnipeg P&D in the morning and then run 75 south to Rosenort, Morris, Altona, Gretna and then west to Lowe Farm, Plum Coulee, reinfeld, Winkler and Morden.
I know what you mean about being on a route fresh and then after several months you are just bouncing in and out of places in minutes.
Sometimes I have to thread a pretty tight needle because of where I got to back into..lol
Do love the challenge though.
hey another great video chuck yes as a former person in charge who had keys to open the door tell you where to drop the pallets if something is broken that's between us and the truck company cuz it's actually the warehouse people who pack stuff then give it to truck drivers like this morning at Marshalls i was waiting for some Christmas plants but as soon as i opened the box it was broken (yes the driver was still outside but he had his own problem) how would Estes Express feel about you drivers locking yourself out of the truck yup that's what happened with the driver this morning he couldn't call dispatch or anyone cuz his phone was also inside the truck 🤔
Our trucks require a key to lock the door 👍🏻
@@TheTulsaTrucker ah nice we felt bad for him the type of doors they have automatically lock I ran upstairs to our supply area to try and use old hangers we were going to throw away strong winds here in California blew tree branches to the floor so we tried using that and the old metal hangers as a hammer but started unloading the truck our store manager called the 1800 lp number because the main number no one is there at 615 in the morning I got on the stairs of his truck I almost reached the push button to open the door but the wood and hanger broke and went inside his truck (I hope his dispatch bosses don't fire him) it was a simple mistake I'll find out tomorrow if AAA came to help him or if they have their own service to open his door for him
Safe travels driver please be safe out there
Nice vlog driver!
Keep on TRUKIN.....💲💲🤓💲
I actually know a dockworker from the West Middlesex terminal 😊 used to work with him at a different job.
I peddled freight for 30 years....i'm retired now an don't miss it one bit.
I drive a delivery van in Japan very tight at times sometimes it’s not
Everything going ok? Haven’t seen you post in awhile stay safe!
New vlog today 👍🏻
I watched ur video again. No wasted moves, like a old boss of mine used to say don’t waste ur shoe leather.
Amen to that 👊🏻
There's that one customer, that says I need to open it up to inspect for damage. I always replied nicely sign write here I have no problem you opening and inspecting.
Toledo City Driver Mike Darr here, damage happens and there are many reasons for it. We all have to work Together on the pick up side and delivery side. I've refused a pickup ( with the approval of dispatch) before. It was 2 pallets of asphalt patch weighing 3,300lbs each because it required a lift gate. The shipper broke the 2 pallets into 3 pallets to balance out the weight more. We have to look out for the guy delivering it too.
Our lift gates are rated around 2,500lbs I believe. Any more than that it becomes a Safety issue
Totally agree, I have done the same.
we have a Estes in toledo? located where
@@penarri yup
Great vdeo
you need a new pallet jack,, haha.. great job on the reversing ,, youve been to this one before 1737.. i asked my self ,, why not take the open door,, but you do you...
Hej Chuck this vas a god video mate a gen you doe a god job. hello form Denmark
👊🏻
So i drive a semi for the norwegian mail office, and all our trucks have liftgates, they weighed that it was more beneficial to invest in it than having non liftgate trucks
West Middlesex, Pennsylvania is in Mercer County.
Enjoy that $2 raise for PND coming soon. I’m with estes and working fema right now. And now I saw you’re going to linehaul. Enjoy that extra .02 a mile. We making some good money!

@@TheTulsaTrucker haha I was actually just talking with another driver and he told me .03. So I came on here to edit my comment. And saw yours. ESTES 💪
Chuck you are a little charmer.
😂😂 what ever it takes 🤣
When can we see more videos from you been a couple months and a couple beers ago lol
I think that if i was to ever drive a truck again, I would have cams in the truck while driving and on on my head while loading or unloading!
Great video Chuck! I am doing my road test for XPO doing linehaul today. Only downside is the fact that the service center is 2 hours from home but the money and experience is worth it!
Do you have any tips for linehaul? There won't be any layover thankfully.
My suggestion is always get a goodnight rest, never be rushed and or feel rushed remember and I means always put this in your head your safety always comes first. Goodluck I’ve been with xpo for over two years now, currently 1.3 as a DSR it’s a tough job but worth it for the experience
Now having to be fair to XPO, they gave me a big break, fresh out of school, got experience off the books, but they were my first gig. Put me on linehaul and a forklift, had to figure out the system, and how the heck to hook doubles (for a guy 140 pounds, with cannoli arms, it was an argument, especially going from a 53’ to pups). Show up and they gave me a rig. Most of the appeal was they had ten speeds if you preferred. Apparently the money was good, but the hours are harsh, the single screw daycabs are rough. Not my cup of tea, was there but a few month, but they gave me a push, and now I got the best job I’ve ever had. Oh, those driver cameras, good luck with that. Coolest part of the job was when you had freight for those you know. I’m from Pittsburgh, but was getting unloaded at another terminal, but I just happen to look down at the sticker, and it’s to a family friend. Wrote “loaded in (city) by (my name). Was a really cool moment. Best part of freight is when you make a tangible difference. Now when I see their fire pit, I know I had a part in moving those bricks. Feels great.
I need a single axle 🤦🏾♂️. I’m in 53 liftgate and it would greatly benefit me if I had one
See what I do is keep a couple dunkin donut gift cards(not sponsored lol) in my back pocket.. just in case these receivers try and refuse something
😂😂 good idea
Nice job! chuck... Way to handle the ins and out - Man your fast 👍
Question? When you start line haul, are you unloading your trlr and reloading, or are you doing swaps? Or you pulling doubles? And is your hours going to change?...
Question? When you start line haul, will you be unloading your truck or are you doing swaps?
All I will be doing is moving trailers from terminal terminal never touching freight in the process 👍🏻
Hay chuck I am not a truck driver but I have some questions about this job when you get your two trailer how do you know wich one is frist and what is the number two truck and I see you put the door strap in when you shut the door why I love when you do a long drive and get your truck cleaned up do you stop at truck stops
We put the trailers together by weights. The heaviest trailer is what we call the lead in the lightest trailer is in the rear. I put the door strap inside the trailer so it doesn’t get caught in the dock when I’m back in. We taking the truck washes
Whips that 53fter better than I can with my bass boat trailer.
Some places I go to have refrigerated warehouses
you could do a p&d marithon video
Can't be afraid of the curb it's called a curb check ur making sure the curb is still there lol
🤣 true
