Thanks to Majeed and Ernest for taking me on this extreme Ghanaian street food tour of Accra. We had an incredible time eating and exploring Accra!
Jamestown, Accra, Ghana - We started off this Ghanaian street food tour of Accra in Jamestown, along the coast in Accra. The neighborhood is home mostly to a fishing community, but they also are known for having some of the best boxers in Ghana. We walked around Jamestown, and tried a few snacks and drinks along the way.
Palm wine - 2 GHC ($0.40)
Egg - 1 GHC ($0.20) per egg
Tigernut milk - 2 GHC ($0.40)
Kenkey (Kenkey - West African staple made from ground corn) and fried fish - After walking around Jamestown, we found a small restaurant to eat kenkey, a common Ghanaian staple made from corn, and here, eaten with fried fish. The restaurant was awesome, and the owners were very friendly. We ordered some food, and also had the chance to watch some of the cooking production. This was probably my favorite meal of this entire Ghanaian street food tour.
Total price - 20 GHC ($4.30) for all
We continued eating our way through Accra, here are a few more of the meals and snacks we tried:
Kelewele and gizzard - 5.5 GHC ($1.20)
Coconut - 2 GHC ($0.40) per coconut
Mama Vee Waakye - We couldn’t have an ultimate Ghana food tour without eating waakye, and so Majeed took me to one of his favorite spots. Waakye is a beloved Ghanaian food, a mix of many different things, and it’s incredible delicious. It wa also a huge plate!
Price - 13 GHC ($2.80)
Hwe Nea Nyame Aye Chop Bar (translated to “See what God has done” restaurant) - For one of our final meals of the day, we stopped at one of their favorite local neighborhood restaurants to eat fufu, along with massively giant jungle snails. They were delicious.
Price - 26 GHC ($5.60)
Chinchinga - Many places around the world offer grilled meat on skewer over charcoal, and in Ghana they are called chinchinga. Especially if you enjoy meat, you can’t miss them.
Price - 3 GHC ($0.60) per stick
It was an incredible day of street food in Accra, Ghana, West Africa. Thanks again to Majeed and Ernest for taking me around!

I love how Mark respects every culture he goes to. I love this guy. He needs his own show.
Yeah that's how we got colonized.. he shouldn't have a choice but to respect our culture but wer act so docile we allow anyone in... that's exactly how their missionaries came in
Greg Hunt agree
😀I know...coz am a native too..that we share common ways of doing somethings in life...but I don't have the courage he has, in doing all that. Much admiration for him👍
yes, I absolutely agree with you Great Mark!!!
so true.
Been watching this guys videos for a while he’s such a respectful guy to all cultures . God bless him
i also feel that ....he does not want to hurt anyone......though food was unhealthy and prepared in unhealthy manner ..still he praised...
I was about to say that. His contents re way better than most travel vlogs out there
I hope the native gods bless him

The people of Ghana have opened their homes, hearts and communities to Mark. When people break bread with you, know you are well appreciated. Something many of the people posting these negative comments will never understand. When you have little, but give all, you give everything- including yourself with love and happiness.....and there everyone matters.

He probably shouldn't. Producers will control his footage and we might not see all the authenticity
Just as BiellasPointofView said, producers and their controlling entourage will FUCKUP the very thing that makes Mark's productions lively and colourful. I hope he never falls for any TV deal temptations.

I am seriously salivating here, l grew up in Accra and it was so wonderful to see all the foods of my childhood, my favourites being, fufu , kenkay and plantain. I wish l could get fufu and kenkay here in UK 😢
I feel your pain😭
There's enough Ghanaians there, befriend them :)
You can get some of the delicacies from the African grocery shops. Best regards
After seeing this, l did some research and found a place online that sold Kenkay. I ordered a goat curry and fufu .from our local African/Carrie restaurant and I had and amazing meal and trip down memory lane. I wish they did the kenkay but l know it is labour intensive. I also miss the groundnuts, cannot get them tasting the same here. Remember them as a delicious treat served in a twist of paper .
Yeahh there's quite a few lovely Ghanaian restaurants/takeaways here in London, probably depends where you're from x

lisa kell You think fried chicken gizzards, fried plantain bananas, noodles and fatty goat meat are healthy?
@@IslenoGutierrez I believe they call her interpretation "confirmation bias". I love Ghana and have lived in Ghana for several years. While the food tastes good, much of it is very unhealthy and it's not uncommon to see Ghanaians over weight and dying before 60.

Eric Platt superb gr8 Coment
Eric Platt *thanks again for the valuable time and thought*
Eric Platt true. People have gotten so apart and shielded nowadays. Then everyone complains about how lonely, boring and des pressing life is.
We all wish that was the case Eric. However, it will never be the case because certain religions demand violence, literally.
Eric Platt funny how you say god wants us to be together yet the main reason for everyone being apart is religion. Especially in the Middle East. So don’t say god wanted this. Humans have to figure it out. Has nothing to do with god. Religion is ripping people farther apart as much as you don’t think so it is. Not saying having a religion is bad but religion is separating.
My place of birth..I'm a proud Ghanaian to the fullest..😘😘😘😘

Sam LSD he doesn’t live in Africa he lives in Thailand. His son will grow up to be strong with strong bones and muscles because his parents feed him healthy food and take good care of him not because he was exposed to some sun and water while vacationing in Africa.

My respect for Mark is gone up. He really also visits places where others would rather not go.. Because of some prejudices.. You really show the world that we are one :) And it makes no difference, every country has bad and good people.. Some are especially friendly and more than often its not the so called first world countries ;)
As an American, these people are much hospitable and sincere then a good portion of Americans. Americans are spoiled and narcissist to a fault. Our disconnection from the rest of world makes Americans think of the worse of everything then the best of everybody. Blame in mainstream media and also inadequate education system.
Yeah.. I never would blame it first of all on a person themself because as a kid, if nobody would push you in this direction, you would treat all equal. What happens later is society, media, the enviroment.. Plus, what can be a mindopener for people in later years, can be school exchanges, which sadly doesnt happen as broadly and much as it should be. Living in another country for some weeks or months, make you understand all those things much better..
I am off to Accra in November!
